Chapter 92: Chapter 33 Hunting Iguanodon Alone_1

"For sure it’s a lot better than you running around in the countryside! Just buy a piece of land on the road side, don’t have much money at first, let Uncle Ming build a house for you, you can settle it with him later. Wait a few days, I’ll have some money, I can lend it to you to pay him back." Yan Fei suggested.

"Whether I borrow from him or you, it’s all the same, do you still have money?" Pang Fa laughed.

"I don’t have any at the moment. I just bought three more cows to fatten them up, this way is quicker to make money. I will have some after a few days." Yan Fei honestly answered.

I’m surprised you were able to afford cows, you sneaky usually!" Pang Fa was surprised.

Yan Fei giggled.

In fact, he had also made a little calculation. He had wanted to do this after he saw the location of Pang Fa’s fish pond, but he was afraid Pang Fa would ask for the money for the cows. Now that the cows have been bought, he has come forward to play good guy.

This won’t hurt feelings, Pang Fa would have no complaints, even if he knew. After all, with his large cattle farm, and only ten cows right now, it would take several months at least to see some profits!

"But if I open an oil mill here, wouldn’t it undercut old Li family’s business?" Pang Fa worried.

"What are you afraid of? You charge less, and his place still attracts people from the northern village! You only need to serve the ones from the east. How can he not let you do it? Do as you wish. When would you make money from fish farming?" Yan Fei answered confidently. He doesn’t care about others’ views.

Pang Fa thought it sounded quite reasonable. So, the two of them talked for a while, even though Yan Fei didn’t really know much too. Pang Fa just wanted someone to talk to, so since Yan Fei was here, he could only talk to him.

Yan Fei has another plan. The residue oil from the mill and the wheat bran can be collected and used for feeding cows and pigs. He can get a steady source of feed from the farm.

This act of seeming kindness won’t cost him a dime, others even will have to appreciate him for it, and besides, he can also benefit. It’s a win-win situation.

The idea came from Xiang Changsong, who collects vegetables. The simpleton has become wiser after running around a lot.

Yan Fei, feeling pleased with his own cleverness, rode off on his motorcycle with a big smile on his face.

Night.

Cow Breeding Island.

An Iguanodon is on lookout duty beside an unknown group of plants.

With the slightest rustle of the wind, it would raise its head alertly and look around.

Taking advantage of the moment when it just lowered its head after looking around, a shadow suddenly appeared above its head. A steel rod, over a meter long, came down on its eye.

Missed?

Even the most prepared wouldn’t be able to anticipate the exact moment the Iguanodon would move its head. Moreover, the Iguanodon’s head itself was hard to steady, so a misaim was quite expected.

In fact, the moment the rod hit, Yan Fei immediately left the scene.

The reaction of the attacked Iguanodon was limited, it couldn’t understand what had just hit it. By the time it reacted, Yan Fei was already back for the second attack.

This creature didn’t even run away after being attacked. It stood on its hind legs, raising its upper body, and shaking its head around, searching for the source of danger.

In this pose, it was easier to hit.

Yan Fei got right on the back of the Iguanodon, as if riding a horse, and stabbed it with the rod again.

Before the Iguanodon could even react, the rod accurately pierced into its eye. In a bout of thunderous wailing, the shadow disappeared.

The injured Iguanodon screamed dementedly. Its companions heard the noise and panicked, and made various cries. Yet, at this time, Yan Fei, back in his room, was swearing, having dropped his heavy hammer.

Moving around on the Iguanodon’s head wasn’t easy. Even though Yan Fei had been practicing hard lately, the rod didn’t go in deep enough. The moment Yan Fei let go, the rod fell out.

Without a second thought, he immediately dropped his hammer, quickly went back to the spot, picked up the steel rod and returned to his room. He saw an opportunity and went in again.

He had a gut feeling that things weren’t looking good the moment he appeared on the Iguanodon’s back, and quickly returned to his room.

The Iguanodon’s constantly moving head makes it hard to aim. But he was prepared this time and went out again, aiming at the Iguanodon for another shot.

Nailing the moving head of the Iguanodon was indeed very difficult, although he’d been practicing with the short rod for days. However, when he couldn’t even maintain his footing, how could he aim properly?

The Iguanodon herd was already restless, letting this one run further would make it much harder to handle once it regained its composure and entered the group.

Switching the iron rod to my left hand, I tried a couple of times, but felt even less sure. If I could blind its other eye, it would be thoroughly cornered.

In my urgency, I didn’t have time to think. Going directly for the thinnest part of the Iguanodon’s neck, I stabbed forcefully, not caring where exactly it was. As long as the rod didn’t hit the bones of the head, it could still penetrate.

The Iguanodon suddenly started to run wildly due to the stimulation.

Yan Fei instantly returned to his room. The long-planned hunting expedition seemed to have failed.

Suddenly, a muffled thud echoed through the forest. Although Yan Fei couldn’t hear the noise, he clearly saw what had happened.

The frenzied Iguanodon, due to panic and its eye injury, crashed headlong into a large tree which would have taken several people to wrap their arms around.

The considerable impact made the Iguanodon step backwards, its head a little dazed. During that moment, Yan Fei struck again.

He aimed for the injured eye again, and finally, the rod stabbed through it, at least a third of it deeply lodged in the Iguanodon’s head.

This was followed by a sharp ’snap’ sound.

The clash of iron rod and hammer, although not very loud, seemed like a death knell for the Iguanodon.

As though a red-hot iron bar was stabbed into the snow, the rod easily plunged almost entirely into the Iguanodon’s head.

The Iguanodon emitted a final, mournful cry of its life. Its gigantic body attempted to take a step, only to stumble a few times before crashing down with a loud thud, like a collapsing hill.

Even as it lay on the ground, its body occasionally quivered. The one uninjured eye gradually lost its vitality.

The smell of blood drifted around, causing the nearby Iguanodon herd to roar in alarm, gathering in confusion before running away, leaving nothing behind but broken branches and the sound of receding footsteps.

Only the heavy scent of dust remained, the forest once again silent in the blink of an eye.

Yan Fei was immensely satisfied.

After so much planning and days of practice, he had finally succeeded!

What followed next was hard labor for Yan Fei.

Cutting meat and chopping legs, along with the spreading smell of blood, gradually attracted other carnivores, Rapators and the Terrestrisuchus, which began to observe everything from the perimeter.

It wasn’t that Yan Fei enjoyed killing Iguanodons, but most of the time, he couldn’t pick up an easy meal as he did the first time he ate Iguanodon meat.

Whether it’s Terrestrisuchus or the Rapators, their hunting method usually involves choosing the old, the weak, the sick, and the disabled Iguanodons; they rarely hunt the robust prey. Yan Fei wouldn’t pick up any unhealthy-looking meat to eat, even if he wanted to take advantage of the situation.

His killing skills had somewhat improved under his targeted practice, and at least this time, he had managed to take down the Iguanodon independently.

The surrounding carnivorous creatures were very cautious, which gave Yan Fei enough time. Occasionally, a few which had not been taught a lesson before tried to approach. Once they crossed Yan Fei’s psychological line of defense, they would be brutally attacked.

The Terrestrisuchus, relying on their thick scales, could protect themselves, but for the Rapators, including those flying Microraptors, any attempt to approach would yield a bloody lesson from Yan Fei’s butcher knife.

After Yan Fei decapitated a Rapator with one swing, he was quite pleased with himself.

All the hard work and practice had been effective at least; the blow had been swift and accurate. That Rapator had barely sensed the danger, and its head was lopped off.

With the headless corpse of the Rapator still twitching on the ground, the surroundings immediately quieted down considerably.

Until he picked enough meat and left, none of the ravenous carnivores dared to cross his line.

The natural law of survival was deeply ingrained in these creatures. The strongest had the first choice and could choose the food that satisfied them the most. The rest could only wait for leftovers.

Those who attempted to challenge this rule usually ended up as food, fortunate escapees were rare.

To make matters worse, Yan Fei was the boldest creature in the entire forest. He only took a small portion from the entire Iguanodon, leaving enough for the rest to feast upon.
