Chapter 586: Chapter 252: No Killing Allowed_1

When Yan Fei had followed Old Zhutou to lead the tiger away, he saw the two Golden Eagles still obediently gripping onto the chestnut tree. He couldn’t help but ask Old Zhutou, "Does this shoddy place of yours have anything worthwhile left?"

Old Zhutou chuckled coldly, a smug satisfaction hidden within his laugh. "This shoddy place of mine? Heh, this bamboo forest has been passed down through several generations to my possession, what do you think?"

"So having it for a long time means it’s valuable?" Yan Fei looked skeptical, but then had a thought and began to laugh. "But you have a point, over time some bad things can turn good. Fresh cow dung can’t be used directly as fertilizer, but leave it to dry and it can nurture earthworms. Given enough time, it could turn into great fertilizer, and it can even breed maggots for feeding chickens..."

If you were to mention Yan Fei’s talent for being provocatively annoying, it seemed to grow day by day. As Old Zhutou was proudly claiming ownership of this bamboo forest, hearing these words made him so irritated that he lost a few more strands of his sparse white hair. "You brat, watch your mouth! Here, let me show you. These two shorter ones are fig trees, and these few here are peonies, over here, we have Bang Jiang, and over there are water chestnuts..."

"It’s just a couple of fig trees and a few flowers, right? I’ve seen plenty of those..." Yan Fei was purely killing time, arguing with Old Zhutou while unchaining the tiger. "You’re treating these things like treasures and planting them by your house, but nobody comes to see them. You’re just flattering yourself!"

Fig trees were indeed scarce in Sancha River village. Mostly used as pot plants, never growing into large trees. As for the fruit of the fig tree, Yan Fei had seen immature ones but never a mature one, let alone eaten one. As for Bang Jiang, Yan Fei knew about it, it wasn’t commonly sold in the market or commonly grown. No one knew its scientific name, locals simply referred to it as Bang Jiang.

Bang Jiang looked exactly like regular ginger used as a spice, but the taste was worlds apart. Bang Jiang is eaten as a vegetable, directly dug up and edible, crunchy, sweet, and juicy. It can be eaten directly as a cold dish or pickled into Salted Vegetables. However, it was mostly grown for personal consumption, nobody sold it for money, so naturally, there was a smaller number being grown, making it a rare item.

Water Chestnuts are also known as Chinese water chestnuts, Yan Fei had eaten them, he knew they were dug from the ground, however he had never seen them being planted or what their above-ground leaves and branches looked like.

Seeing Yan Fei’s stubborn refusal to admit his expressions, Old Zhutou coldly chuckled. "Hmph, you ignorant lad, I won’t bother discussing with you further. As for valuable things, I won’t be telling you anymore, figure it out for yourself!

"Fine by me, I will just come here every day to wander. I refuse to believe there’s something here you can hide from me..." Yan Fei was about to continue but suddenly perked up his ears. "How did a car come all the way to this shoddy place? I better go check it out, you enjoy feeling superior by yourself!"

With that, he quickly picked up the pace in unlocking the chains. Seeing his dismissive look, Old Zhutou angrily rushed into his house, returned after a while, and said to him, "Wait wait, look at this! I bet you’ve never seen this before!"

Yan Fei had already unleashed the black bear and tiger and was planning to lead them away. Hearing his shout, he glanced back and almost burst out laughing, "A few mere Lingzhi mushrooms, and you’re considering them as treasures?"

"Have you ever seen real ones?" Old Zhutou boastfully replied. "Even if you have, it would be at most in a pharmacy. However, have you seen ones grown by oneself?"

"You grew these yourself?" asked Yan Fei, genuinely surprised.

He really hadn’t heard of anyone in Sancha River village growing these. There wasn’t even anyone cultivating mushrooms in Sancha River village, let alone Lingzhi mushrooms! He hadn’t pegged this old neighbour of his for the kind to hide his light under a bushel.

Still in a smug mood, Old Zhutou replied, "Yes, see those trees over there? Around the root of the tree, you’ll find..."

Just then, Yan Fei’s face changed. "I need to go, we’ll talk later..."

With those words, he sprinted off, leading the bear and tiger. After running a few steps, he found the two beasts digging their butts in the ground, resisting being dragged. He felt it was too much trouble to continue manhandling them, so he threw the chains onto the ground and ran off on his own.

All the while, he heard worried shouts from the old man behind him: "What’s the matter?"

Ignoring him, Yan Fei shouted back: "It’s none of your business..."

The reason was, just because he had been chatting with the old man for an extra second or two, he had heard Xu Xiaoyan calling out that someone was causing trouble. Of course he should be worried! Who had time to spare to say goodbye to the old man?

Yan Fei flung the chains aside and darted away, with several tigers hot on his heels. The black bears, initially disinclined to move, instantly galloped after them. They’d previously been reluctant to travel, but now that they were free they were frightened and made haste.

It was then that the Sixth Miss Guo and her party saw him sprinting out from behind the bamboo grove.

They failed to notice the two golden eagles circling in the sky above, shrieking and flying towards them!

On catching sight of the scene, Yan Fei was livid. Despite his conversation with the old man, he hadn’t entirely grasped the situation. But he could clearly see Ma Yongming leading a crowd brandishing hoes and rakes, facing off against the Fifth Young Master Guo and his two bodyguards with the Third Young Master Guo not yet having approached.

Although the Sixth Miss Guo stood closer, Yan Fei no longer held a favorable impression of her. He hadn’t forgotten her conduct at the western restaurant; she clearly wasn’t a person of good character.

Upon seeing Yan Fei charging furiously, trailed by a pack of fiercely rushing beasts, the Sixth Miss Guo and her party went weak in the knees—they’d never encountered such a ruthless individual!

The man was fearsome enough, never mind the group of ferocious beasts trailing him, each with a chain around its neck. The clanging of the chains during their wild run added to their intimidating appearance.

What truly frightened them was the speed!

Before they could even react, Yan Fei was already upon them. The closer he got, the more tangible was the overwhelming aura emanating from his young being—like a prehistoric beast, amplified by the beasts trailing behind him, instilling a palpable sense of dread.

The Third Young Master Guo hollered a few words indicating a misunderstanding, but nobody paid him any attention.

On the verge of fainting, Miss Guo tried to let out a scream but found no voice. Instinctively, she reached out for the nearest person for support, only to grab Miss Nana, who stood closest. In a more tragic turn, Miss Nana was rolling her eyes back, sluggishly collapsing to the ground, and inadvertently pulled Guo down with her.

Still possessing a shred of courage, Guo managed to croak out: "Help...".

However, with each step back, he fell to the ground. It wasn’t surprising; after all, Yan Fei had him dead in his sights!

As he staggered backwards towards the workers, none of them were in the mood to catch him. Seeing Yan Fei rush over, they were terrified and kept retreating.

To their credit, the two bodyguards managed to stand their ground. Despite knowing they were no match for Yan Fei charging towards them, let alone the beasts trailing him, they still stepped in front of Guo.

They didn’t advise their young master to run—clearly, there was no escape.

Although filled with a sense of doom, they expected that the day’s events would probably end their lives right there. They had no other choice: as bodyguards, it was their duty to shield their charge in times of danger.

Yan Fei was fast approaching...

How fast can a charging tiger be? Yet Yan Fei was outpacing them. With such speed, the onlookers didn’t have time to even react.

Just as the groups were about to collide, Yan Fei leaped forward with so much force that it stirred up a burst of wind. In the blink of an eye, a girl’s voice rang out: "Don’t kill..."
