Chapter 584: Chapter 250: A Single Oversight in a Hundred Cautions_1

More hands make light work. While others were busy with measurement lines, Yan Fei had already made a round, taken out his specially made large hoe, and begun to dig.

He dug alone while several others followed behind, removing the dug-up dirt. Halfway around the perimeter of the foundation, Ma Yongming started gasping behind him: "I can’t keep up. It’s been awhile since I’ve done hard labor health myself. Follow you and work like this, I’m going to collapse. I better take it slow!"

With Yan Fei leading the charge, Ma Yongming had no other choice but to work as well. As two bosses got engaged in labor, the rest of the workers had to buckle up and work too. In the end, Yan Fei worked with such vigor that Ma Yongming and even the workers began gasping for air.

At this, Yan Fei laughed and said, "Take your time, we’re not going to finish this work in a day, there’s no need to rush."

Jokingly, Ma Yongming says, "Boss Yan, why not come to work at my construction site? With your efficiency, I’ll pay you the wages of twenty workers. I planned to buy a modified mini excavator, but with you on board, there’s no need to spend that money. You’ll easily earn tens of thousands a month!"

"Do you have that much work?" Yan Fei asked with a smirk.

"Rest assured, there’s plenty of work. It’s just that our conditions aren’t optimal, so we can’t take on many jobs. I plan to buy an excavator and get a new mixer. With these, we can take on bigger jobs. Now is a good time, there’s endless work and money to be made!" Ma Yongming replies with high spirits.

"Deal! Once I’m done here, I’ll head over to your place to work and earn your money!" Yan Fei says, grinning.

The workers laughed, knowing these two were joking. They all knew how busy Boss Yan is. Whether it’s building greenhouses or buildings, then there’s the cattle farm. It’s a miracle if he ever gets free time.

This is not major construction; the foundation does not need to be too deep. Digging till the hard soil layer is enough. With Yan Fei’s help, progress is fast.

By noon, Yan Fei tosses his large hoe aside: "You guys continue with the work while I prepare some food for you. Uncle Ming, stay put, I’ll make something delicious for you."

He zoomed off on his motorbike, and soon returned with his wife. The workers instantly perked up, their working spirit shot through the roof.

An old turtle, and two large catfish still struggling with their tail fins – too freaking exciting! When have they ever seen such treatment when working construction? But they turned a blind eye to the remaining buns and vegetables and just salivated over the large catfish and old turtle.

After parking his motorbike and grabbing the stuff, Yan Fei joked, "Sorry, guys, times are tough, I didn’t have money to buy vegetables, so I had to catch some things from the river. Enjoy the turtle soup and catfish meat, and buns to fill you up."

This was already over the top. They all worked diligently until mealtime. Yan Fei was generous, pouring some liquor, "We still have work to do later, so let’s drink less now and more in the evening!".

Actually, there was no need for him to say anything. Given their treatment, the workers knew their limits. They were fully committed, didn’t even take a breather after mealtime. After the foundation was dug, they insisted that Yan Fei rest and not help out anymore.

What was left was masonry, and the bricks were already unloaded in a circle, reducing unnecessary moving. Yan Fei’s brute strength was not needed anymore. He simply went over to the side to rest.

Well, it was called resting, but he wasn’t idle. He washed up at a small nearby pond, transformed into clean clothes inside the house, and came out in just his underwear. He then sprawled on a wicker chair under the sun, sketching out plans on paper, discussing with his wife about important things left to do recently.

Just as they were talking, Old Zhutou ran over, smiling cheerily, "Boss Yan, it’s the weekend today. I’ve got everything ready at my place. Could you bring the tigers over?"

Yan Fei nonchalantly stood up and led the tiger and black bear over. He even called down the two Golden Eagles flying overhead to land on a thick-bowled tree in the middle of the yard.

Old Zhutou boasted, "Do you know what kind of tree this is? It’s a chestnut tree. There are only two in this vicinity, and nowhere else. Those two over there are walnut trees, also a rare sight everywhere else."

No wonder the old man treasured his bamboo forest so much; hidden within were some real gems! All these trees were tucked among other trees, they were close to his house but towards the bamboo grove. Since most people avoided playing near his little cabin, not many knew about them.

The satisfied old man declared pointing at his surroundings, "Look at my place, it’s right by the river. Once the weather warms up, there’ll be people on the opposite bank. Having the tiger tied here will certainly attract many spectators!"

Yan Fei couldn’t be bothered to respond, but he was quite satisfied with the preparations Old Zhutou made. The old man set up several large wooden posts near the bamboo grove, each accompanied by a pile of dry hay, and circled the lot with several fences. Each fence was filled with spiky branches—Yan Fei didn’t know the name of it, but it was a plant full of thorns and small leaves, some rural families would plant it as a fence for their yards.

With these spiky branches, he wouldn’t need to worry as much. These naughty children would’ve seen it before. The thorns were sharp enough to pierce through the soles of shoes, whoever wanted to come closer would have to factor in their soft, tender flesh against these sharp spikes.

After securing the tiger and ensuring that the wooden posts were hammered deep enough for safety, Yan Fei left.

As he left, he saw Old Zhutou gleefully carrying out a brand new lounge chair from the house. He lay on it humming a tune, looking completely pleased with himself.

Just as he settled down, Old Zhutou started again, "It’s the weekend! It’s already so late, why hasn’t anyone come..."

Yan Fei was baffled too, until the girl by his side reminded, "Both of you were preparing for people to come see the tigers, did you go out and advertise it at all?"

Both young and old exchanged dumbfounded looks, speechless.

No wonder they say no defense is perfect! They considered everything but forgot this crucial detail.

The advertisements used to attract visitors to see the tigers at Yan Fei’s place were always arranged by Heizi. Heizi had great ideas and knew many leisure seekers, spreading the word was easy. But this time, preoccupied with other matters, Yan Fei forgot to do so, even the girl only heard about it through Yan Fei – the rest did not have a clue!

"We can wait until next Sunday!" Yan Fei suggested hopelessly. "When you go to school, spread the word, otherwise, who would know to come here!"

Since Boss Yan’s reputation had grown considerably, the townsfolk dared not offend him. When Heizi previously declared that Yan didn’t want visitors, parents naturally instructed their children to avoid playing in this area. After all, this place now had an owner, Landlord Yan, and when he doesn’t want visitors, nobody can do anything about it—Who would know that he suddenly started inviting visitors again? Nowadays, everyone cares about when his cattle farm would start distributing cows, many probably have even forgotten he has a tiger!

Without other alternatives, Old Zhutou sighed in despondency, "Then you might as well take the tiger back! I’m heading to town..."

Yan Fei knew the old man must be planning to promote his mini zoo in town, nodded and followed him to get the tiger.
