Chapter 506: Chapter 196 Black Little Lightning_2

It was a soft chirping, akin to that of a small bird...

If it weren’t for the clear weather or the silence of the late night, he would have easily missed this tiny sound. But now that he had heard it, he couldn’t help but investigate its source.

He followed the sound for a while, only to find it had stopped.

But he was not in a hurry, time wasn’t pressing, so he leisurely roamed around the forest. Eventually, he transformed into a Deinonychus and strolled around the woods at a more leisurely pace.

It wasn’t because he was fearful of any potential danger; it was just that he thought the Deinonychus would have better hearing abilities.

When he heard the sound again, he felt dejected, realizing that he had seemingly walked in the wrong direction and drifted farther away.

The Deinonychus has light and agile footsteps. He quickly turned around and trotted in the direction of the sound.

After trotting for a while, he sensed that he should be nearing the source. He then transformed into a Parasaurolophus, roared out loudly, and then shifted back into a Deinonychus to listen carefully.

The roar of the Parasaurolophus echoed throughout the forest. The small creature emitting the chirping sounds, obviously startled, became somewhat restless. It instinctively remained quiet, fearful of attracting any predators. Still, the sound of its anxious movement in the nest reached the ears of the Deinonychus.

With that sound, Yan Fei was able to pinpoint the exact location of the creature’s nest.

Within a hole in a large ginkgo tree.

The Deinonychus disappeared, only to reappear on the tree. With a diameter of about ten meters and branches extending outward, the tree had a wide, flat spot in the middle. Not to mention a Deinonychus, even a Tyrannosaurus rex could stand there—granted, if the Tyrannosaurus rex could manage to climb up to that height.

The spot he arrived at was indeed great, directly before a few roots of the branches that provided an excellent shelter from the wind and rain, revealing some scattered branches.

It must be here.

The location of the nest was superb, and clearly something wasn’t right. He’d arrived at the opening of the nest, yet the small creature inside seemed oblivious to the impending danger.

He sensed carefully and managed to pinpoint the exact position of the small creature within.

He casually stirred some noise. As the creature inside shifted its body, he promptly reached out and captured it like a turtle trapped in a jar.

The small creature caught in his grasp immediately started making frantic chirping sounds that echoed clear in the silent forest.

A crow? A magpie?

Yan Fei not only felt an enormous surprise but also great perplexity.

He instantly returned to the cabin and even lit a seldom-used candle. Under the candlelight, Yan Fei carefully studied the small bird.

It resembled a crow more than any other bird, but there were distinct differences too. Its neck was a touch slender and longer than a crow’s, and its claws were more robust.

As Yan Fei spread its wings amidst the panicked chirping, he saw that while its wingspan was shorter than a crow’s, their length was indeed greater. He didn’t need to look anymore. His curiosity coupled with his joy had made him fiddle with the bird a bit longer.

Despite being a tad smaller than a crow and having feathers that weren’t purely black—in fact, they were a mix of grey—it could easily pass for a crow, or simply not pose as anything. Apart from ornithologists, it would be nearly impossible for anyone else to recognize different bird species.

No matter what, this could be the Black Lightning, and Yan Fei thought this bird was a perfect match for his aim.

So, it was destined that this little creature was doomed.

I’ll take good care of your kin in the future, Yan Fei muttered as he mercilessly exterminated the tiny creature.

Looking at the tiny body, he tossed it into the sea of the dinosaur world, granting it a sea burial. Of course, such treatment wasn’t a way for Yan Fei to commemorate it, but it was more due to the small amount of meat on the creature.

With a fit of laughter, Yan Fei rummaged the house and found an old mirror shard which he put in front of the candle. Then he transformed into a Yan Fei-style crow, admiring his reflection in the mirror shard with delight.

He looked at it straight, from the side, tail to the mirror, wings spread out...

Only when he was completely satisfied did he flap his wings to extinguish the candle, then he flew straight out.

Not far into his flight, he landed on Vegetable Garden Island. Taking his electronic watch out from his pocket, he used the stopwatch function and quickly transformed into a mock-crow before taking off towards the sky above Sancha River.

Without hesitation, he immediately headed towards Provincial City.

This has to be the Black Lightning. Feeling his own speed, Yan Fei’s heart swelled with delight.

That’s how things are—a thing you’d look high and low for, you may never be able to find. But then unexpectedly, when you’re least concerned, you’d discover it in an instance.

He’d been searching for the Black Lightning for a while; it hardly seemed possible to accidentally run into the one he had been looking for, but now wasn’t it true that when he least expected, one of its kin sprang out of nowhere?

In the night sky, the speed at which the imposter crow flew could genuinely liken it to a mini bolt of lightning. The species of bird was already fast, and the added augmentation through the Seventy-Two Transformations Ability made it blisteringly swift.

He was lost in his thoughts when one city after another sped past him beneath the night sky.
