Chapter 478: Chapter 173: You Raise Tigers, Don’t You?_1
Accompanied by the clinking of iron chains, the silhouettes of three tigers appeared gradually in the darkness.
In the darkness, the three beasts moved silently, their massive sizes shocking. Even though they knew the tigers were led by someone, the group of young men was still quite tense.
Each tiger had an iron chain around their neck, held by a person staggering at the other end. Adding to that, there were more chains dragging two lazy black bears that didn’t seem inclined to walk at all.
Due to Yan Fei’s ’meticulous care,’ the largest tiger grew overwhelmingly, at least two and a half meters long excluding the tail, and weighed several hundred catties. Its limbs were thicker than a human’s thigh, which appeared particularly intimidating just by looking at it.
The other two smaller tigers were a bit over a year old and already showing the majesty of the "king of the jungle".
The funniest were the two lazy bears. As fat as they appeared - even bigger than average dogs, they carried no dignity aligned with their size. Reluctantly, they frequently made Yan Fei drag them along, using their chubby paws to brace against the ground.
However, none of the young men present could laugh. The pressure from the three tigers was overwhelming, especially as the tigers got closer to them, clearly showing hostility towards them holding tools. Hearing low growls from the tigers’ throats, any lack of nervousness would have been strange.
Yan Fei patted the tiger’s head, calming them down.
He originally planned to fly over, but noticed a group of people on the ground with tools early in the morning. After listening to their conversation briefly, he learned what was happening, and decided to land and lead his tigers and bears, deliberately blocking them.
Right now, he pretended to be oblivious and asked them a few questions before saying, "You can forget about it, it’s a trivial matter, no need for you guys to fuss over. I’ll handle this myself, you guys can go back."
Since the crowd had come out, they were naturally unwilling to turn back. Tian Dafu, who was more familiar with Yan Fei, stepped up and said, "Brother Xiao Fei, we’re already here, why don’t we follow you and just watch? Don’t worry, we won’t do anything without you saying, we’ll follow your command."
"Yes, yes, we’ll listen to Boss Yan, don’t worry, we won’t create trouble for you," the crowd echoed.
Yan Fei thought for a moment, "That works too, but can you spare two people to go to East Bridge? If they see our militia going to the town, notify them not to."
"Alright, don’t worry!"
Listening to their reassurances, Yan Fei waited for a person to rush towards the town, continuing to walk towards Houfang Village, followed distantly by these young men.
Everyone fears tigers, but having a tiger on one’s own side was indeed a confidence booster.
The group of young people following began to discuss how fierce these tigers were. None of them had seen a real wild tiger before, so they could only make random guesses. Some said the tiger must weigh three to four hundred catties, while others insisted it weighed much more. Had they not heard of the ’weight of the tiger’s bone? A tiger’s bones are much heavier than a cow’s, of the same size, so it must weigh heavier! Maybe it weighs up to a thousand catties.
Listening to their increasingly absurd assumptions, Yan Fei turned back and said, "It’s not as outrageous as you think. This fellow is just a bit fat, actually not even six hundred catties. Besides, it’s still young, equivalent to a sixteen or seventeen-year-old human, it’s still growing!"
The group didn’t feel as relaxed as him: it can still grow after becoming so big? Is it going to reach a thousand catties?
Yan Fei laughed and said, "The biggest one might gain another three hundred catties at most, these two little ones should be fine. They used to starve in the wild; now that they have meat every day, they’ll definitely grow bigger than they would have in the wild."
Of course, the key point he left out was that they had not followed him before; they had no dinosaur meat to eat or dinosaur soup to drink. But that remained unsaid.
Everyone walked slowly mainly due to the two lazy bears; they would sleep after filling their stomachs, wake up and eat again. They were as lazy as dough, lethargic to even walk. Yan Fei was annoyed and gave them a kick, forcing them to dash up front, yelling.
By the time they reached Houfang Village, it was just getting light. There was no sign of anyone yet, but there were many dogs running around the village. They had already started to bark madly before their arrival. When the group got closer, the dogs barked a few times from a distance and ran away. Maybe seeing the tigers on leashes, they started barking even louder, making a retreating bark every few steps.
Yan Fei turned to the people behind him and said, "You guys back off a bit, I’ll let these little guys greet the people in the village first."
He patted the lead tiger’s head and emitted a low growl, mimicking a tiger’s roar.
The tiger immediately understood, shook its body, lowered its head and let out a roar.
The roar wasn’t very loud, but it was penetrating; all the dogs whimpered and fled. The entire village descended into chaos.
Upon hearing the roar, people came out to look. One glance and their legs turned to jelly; they screamed and ran back into their houses.
"A tiger has entered the village..." finally, someone shouted out.
Once someone reminded them, others also started to yell, "A tiger has entered the village..."
Someone else began banging a metal basin in their yard, crying loudly. Various sounds - noises, shouts, animal cries, chickens, ducks, geese – every living thing was alarmed, causing a scene of chaos.
The young men behind Yan Fei joined in the shouting, "A tiger has entered the village, everyone stay inside, hide in your homes!"
Yan Fei leisurely led the tigers and bears forward, inducing chaos within the households he passed, leaving nothing visible in his path.
Only after he had passed through the village to a wheat field did someone begin organizing the villagers. They brought out their weapons and started to come this way.
Of course, no one dared to come forth. Only upon seeing that the tigers were being led by a person, did someone dare to shout from a distance, "What are you guys doing here? Why did you bring tigers?"
Before Yan Fei could respond, a young man answered for him, "Isn’t your village considering raising cows? Our Brother Fei came to ask you if you’d like to raise tigers instead?"
This young man had a bright future; this was the right response! We’re not here to make trouble. We came to ask if you want to raise tigers?
Yan Fei looked at the young man who had shouted. He felt he must remember him. In the future, when it came time to break the cows, he couldn’t forget him.
