Chapter 462: Chapter 157: Courtesy Before Force_1
Upon hearing this, Heizi also didn’t know what to do.
Though running this miniature zoo could bring in some antique collections for him, he clearly knew what Mon Yan’s main family business was. It was essentially cattle-farming, while these animals were just for amusement, something to do when he was not busy. Honestly, if they worked out the numbers according to what Yan had just told him, they would definitely starve if they relied solely on this for food.
After much consideration, he could only suggest, "How about we don’t send the bill and just keep it for ourselves? When someone comes to get the animals, we can say we want to keep some sables. That’s called "courtesy before force". If they refuse, we then show the bill?"
"We can only do that!" Yan nodded his head. "Later I’ll ask Uncle Baoguo for advice, see if he can come up with any ideas! I bet he’ll definitely say no, but if he doesn’t help me with ideas, I’ll ask him for money! Let’s see what he does?"
As they were talking, it gradually turned dark and Heizi began to prepare the kids to return home. He himself was going back to the cattle farm as well. He would take all the kids to the cattle farm, from where it would be a straight road back to town, not far off.
Though Heizi had his own purposes for letting the kids come see the tigers, he still had to ensure safety. He had to return to the cattle farm at noon for lunch, taking all the kids home.
The kids were in a rush to see the big tigers when they first arrived, they wouldn’t detour to play elsewhere, going straight here. But going back would be a different story. Once they had seen the tiger, very few kids would be in a rush to go home. If no one was looking, they’d surely run around everywhere like lost sheep.
Some of the kids came on bicycles. They were old-style bicycles, these kids couldn’t even get onto the seats, let alone the crossbar they had to straddle. Some were just the height of their bicycle, yet they could still manage to get one leg under the front crossbar and pedal.
Those a little taller couldn’t sit on the seat, but they could just about straddle the bar and pedal, balancing on the crossbar. As they pedalled, they would sway from left to right on the bar, their heads bobbing up and down in the distance, looking comical.
And that wasn’t all, all the bicycles were carrying more than one person, ferrying others. The most powerful ones could carry two on the back and one on the front, making a total of four people on a single bicycle. Even though they were all just kids, they were incredibly endurance!
Some of these kids, usually the precious ones at home, would make a big fuss even if they fell and I got their skin grazed. But when they were out to play, even if they fell with such a bicycle and all three or four people and the bicycle crashed together, everyone bruised and battered, they would still grimace in pain and laugh at each other for falling more embarrassingly.
Watching the little kids leaving laughing and shouting, Miss Xu Xiaoyan couldn’t help but feel emotional again: "I really envy their carefree lives!"
Yan chuckled, "Aren’t we carefree too! Plus, we can play games they can’t play..."
The girl giggled, casually stuffed a tomato she had just plucked from the greenhouse in his mouth: "There are still people interested! Don’t just think about this all the time, hurry up to cook and eat, then continue learning."
All the people had left, only the old man who was entrusted to watch the bamboo forest was still coaxing his grandson.
After coaxing for a long time, he came back to Yan to get a small melon, only then did he leave with his grandson. Before he left, he happily reminded Yan, "Boss Yan, remember to save me those small melons! I will bring my grandson to see the tiger tomorrow!"
The old man was so pleased that his eyebrows seemed to be flying away, as if he hadn’t brought his own grandson, but a god from somewhere.
Xu Xiaoyan didn’t understand this old man and also expressed her feelings, "This old man really spoils his grandson..."
Yan, disdainful, said, "He completely spoils him like a master! If my grandson was this disobedient, I guarantee I wouldn’t say anything, and would have slapped him long ago!"
Xu Xiaoyan giggled, "Just like when you were a kid? I could hear the smack smack smack of a palm from next door, has someone forgotten the pain once the scar is healed?"
"Humph! Dare to reveal my shortcomings! Are you looking forward to being punished? Follow me to cook..." Yan suddenly became angry out of embarrassment and made a move.
The girl let out a cry of surprise as he lifted her up by the waist and carried her off to the kitchen...
Originally, Yan and Heizi planned to make a small bill and consult with his Uncle Baoguo on how to keep the three little sables. But before they could go find him, director Lin had already made his way over.
And he came over right after having breakfast early in the morning.
The sun hadn’t fully risen yet, Heizi was already seated, putting a half-basket of vegetables at his feet, ready to continue his ’ticket collection’ operation. As soon as he saw Lin Baoguo, he immediately went up to greet him, "Director Lin is here!"
Lin Baoguo said unhappily, "Isn’t it because of the good deeds you’ve done? You frightened the people from the pharmaceutical factory with a tiger. Now they are complaining to the higher-ups. They asked me to inquire about what happened?"
The injustice was immediately etched onto Heizi’s face, "That’s not our fault. I mean, they came to buy such a large chunk of bezoar for only a thousand bucks. Wouldn’t you say that’s a rip-off? Wouldn’t you get mad?"
Lin Baoguo’s anger immediately dissipated, "A thousand bucks? They didn’t mention that, they just said someone in Sancha River Township was keeping a protected wild animal, and then used a tiger to intimidate people! Tell me the full story, where are they two?"
Before he had even finished speaking, the two of them happily came out from the greenhouse. One of them was holding a large cage with three little sables in it, and the other was leading a large tiger, looking very imposing!
Yan heard early on that this uncle was here, but he intentionally hid inside to listen to what he was up to. In case it was not good news, he could think of a strategy early on. When he realized it was just about the incident of frightening people with the tiger, he knew it was no big deal.
He enthusiastically greeted, "Uncle Baoguo, you’re here! How about sitting down! Want some water? I’ll pour some for you?"
As per the old rule, if both of them were indifferent towards him, there was peace. But if one was especially warm and welcoming, most likely, there was a problem. As such, Lin Baoguo became alert, "Your tea isn’t easy to drink! You don’t need to say you have something on your mind, but first tell me what happened yesterday. After I hear it out, then we speak."
There was no need for Yan to speak, Heizi immediately started to embellish and exaggerate the performance of the two from the day before. Anyway, the emphasis was on how Yan didn’t want to sell, but they were persistent. In the end, they had no choice but to bring out the tiger to chase people away.
Lin Baoguo automatically left out the parts where Heizi added fuel to the fire in his narration, took a cucumber out of the basket beside him, didn’t bother to wipe or wash it, took a bite and began to ponder.
