Chapter 439: Chapter 139 Ingredients for Stew Soup_1

The Sarcosuchus King’s body exerted no small amount of pressure on the Carcharodontosaurs. Observing the fearsome appearance of the Sarcosuchus King, the dark, glossy scales, and its current actions, it was undeniably a formidable creature.

Fortunately, the Carcharodontosaurs were merely on alert and had not planned to launch an attack directly.

Amid their cautious growls, the Brachiosaurus finally became completely silent. The Sarcosuchus King released its torn throat, slowly turned its head around.

The Carcharodontosaurs instantly began to stir.

The rising and falling roars seemed to threaten and remind the Sarcosuchus King to whom this territory belonged.

The Sarcosuchus King was much larger than them, and as the Carcharodontosaurs watched its indifferent attitude, they began to scatter—a dispersal meant to surround the Sarcosuchus King, create some distance between themselves, and make it easier for them to launch an attack.

However, the situation below was quite different from what the Carcharodontosaurs had imagined. The Sarcosuchus King had no intention of fighting. With an attitude of utter disregard, it turned its head, bit off a large piece of meat from the Brachiosaurus, and disappeared with it.

The Carcharodontosaurs were momentarily stunned, looking around in bewilderment. Once they realized they couldn’t trace the Sarcosuchus King, they once again pounced on the carcass of the Brachiosaurus and began eating more quickly.

A Carcharodontosaurus had just ripped off a piece of meat, tilted back its head and swallowed it. When it lowered its head, it got startled and jumped back like a scared puppy with a howl.

The other Carcharodontosaurs were frightened by it, and they all stopped eating to look in its direction.

They saw that at the place where the startled Carcharodontosaur had been standing, the Sarcosuchus was there again, shaking its head and tearing meat from the Brachiosaurus!

Now it was really a matter of endurance! The Carcharodontosaurs were enraged!

Unfortunately, before their anger could be expressed through their roars, the Sarcosuchus disappeared again, taking with it another large chunk of food.

By the time the Sarcosuchus King made its third appearance, the Carcharodontosaurs had just resumed eating once again, and this time, they were simply livid...

The nearest Carcharodontosaur even attempted to contend with the Sarcosuchus. But alas! It barely moved when it realized it was facing a horrifying gaping mouth. It could only retreat obediently, waiting for its companions to come and assist it.

Before they could organize an attack, however, the Sarcosuchus had disappeared.

Being disturbed while eating time and time again - not just aggressive and brutal Carcharodontosaurs, even the most good-tempered dinosaurs would lose their patience.

The Carcharodontosaurs formed a formation, defending their food, waiting for the Sarcosuchus to reappear so they could teach him a lesson.

They waited and waited...

But the Sarcosuchus did not appear again.

By the time the Carcharodontosaurs realized that the Sarcosuchus would not appear again, Yan Fei was already nearly done cooking the meat and was lying in his tent, staring at the world of the dinosaurs in search of birds for half a day—he thought to himself, as a busy person like him could manage hundreds of tasks a day, how could he afford to waste time with a bunch of naive Carcharodontosaurs?

If the Carcharodontosaurs knew his thoughts, they would probably vomit blood out of anger. After all, they were also considered the overlords within hundreds of miles radius, and if they were so disdained, they would surely regret not risking their lives to decide a victory or defeat with the Sarcosuchus King...

Because he had just transformed into such a large dinosaur like Brachiosaurus, he knew he would have to replenish his energy intensively for some time. On this day, Yan Fei did not transform into a Pterosaur to explore new maps in the dinosaur world.

In spite of this, patiently searching all day brought him some gains. While watching his surroundings, he was suddenly exhilarated. Instantly, he vanished from the greenhouse and reappeared with a large, squawking and struggling bird in his hands.

Yan Fei, holding the bird, was slightly disappointed. The bird was a little big, about the same size as a chicken. Moreover, it had long tail feathers, somewhat like a giant mandarin duck.

The vibrant colors were quite attractive, but for Yan Fei, the brighter the feather color, the less useful it would be for him! It would attract too much attention.

This was even worse than a cinerous vulture! At least a cinerous vulture didn’t grab so much attention.

But having discovered this oversized guinea fowl, Yan Fei felt he was one step closer to his goal. With a cheerful heart, he stewed the oversized guinea fowl into a pot of chicken soup and continued his search for the bird he wanted.

This oversized guinea fowl wasn’t useless. At least after decapitating it and removing its claws, leaving just the body, it could pass off as a wild chicken — albeit with less chicken flavor.

For the remaining days, Yan Fei patiently searched for flying birds. In between, he even sold some vegetables once. Counting the days until it was time to pick up his wife, he finally put a halt to this search.

The harvest was immense.

Well, at least he had discovered several birds that could be used for stew, such as birds with some feathers on their legs, looking like a four-winged Microraptor when they flew, and having what seemed to be four wings. There were also two kinds of birds without feathers on their legs but with long tail feathers.

The smallest bird was not much bigger than a sparrow, but strangely, this tiny bird had tail feathers longer than its body and only two of them. It couldn’t be more peculiar.

Such a bird would certainly cause trouble when seen, at least in the Wan City area. Yan Fei had never seen a bird with such long tail feathers before.

Actually, these birds were already quite ’famous,’ including Confuciusornis, Archaeopteryx, etc. As for the smallest one, similar in size to a sparrow with two tail feathers, it was called the Smaller Liaoning Bird.

Even those unnamed birds, if placed together, would make a tangible history of avian evolution.

Unfortunately for Yan Fei, however much he understood about its evolutionary history, it was still more practical to transform into a more inconspicuous bird. So, these birds were destined for the pot!

As he calculated how much his menu had expanded, he was already flying to the Provincial City.

This time he didn’t need to bring much, nor pretend with a bicycle — his wife had a break coming up and he just needed to fetch her.

He had collected several catties of dried earthworms, but with the Lunar New Year approaching, people would probably stop production. So he decided not to trouble them by selling his goods, and avoid the hassle of them having to store it.

The truth was that he was anxious to fetch his wife and didn’t want to create any extra problems.

He set off at midnight, intending to arrive half a day early to visit the homes of number one and number two.

Flying straight, he didn’t stop when he passed over the brightly lit Provincial City, but flew past towards the small mountain village the two had described.

Along the way, he entered the dinosaur world several times to clarify the geographic conditions from the two of them.

The so-called small mountain village was hillier than mountainous. More like rolling hillocks.

Flying over the continuous hillocks and noting the significant ’features’ the two described — a few small hills nearby, certain large trees at the entrance to the village, such villages on this ancient land of China are too numerous to count.

He searched for a long time without finding it, and Yan Fei was becoming anxious — crucially, he had set off at dawn and now the day was just turning light, and the visibility was poor.

When he finally saw the small mountain village, he breathed a sigh of relief. He hadn’t wasted too much time, his luck wasn’t too bad.

Upon seeing the homes of the two, Yan Fei felt a wave of emotion. These two bad boys from such wealthy families.

The homes they described were all newly built houses. There was no one at number two’s house; he wanted to see his older brother’s house, which now also had a flat built on it. Number one’s house was more impressive, the only two-story Western-style building in the small mountain village. Both houses even had large bamboo poles standing in front of them with strange aluminium alloy frames atop them — these were the outdoor antennas for their televisions.

Hovering over the small mountain village, it was cold and there were very few people. The weather made people stay at home. Yan Fei specially transformed into a small insect to take a closer look inside the houses.

It was time for breakfast, and everyone was home, giving Yan Fei a clear view of everything.
