Chapter 437: Chapter 137: Sell Pigs, Give Clothes_1

Yan Fei had always been a good kid who could correct his mistakes, so knowing he had been overthinking things, he wasn’t anxious anymore.

It had already gotten dark in the dinosaur world, and he guessed that the birds had returned to their nests, so it would be impossible to find them. Instead, he decided to kill some time with the animals of various sizes in the greenhouse.

The small animals in the greenhouse were in for a treat. Three little sables got a large bowl of dinosaur eggs, their small heads huddled together, drinking joyfully. The little bear and golden eagle got the big fish, though it was only catfish, which wasn’t very tasty, but they didn’t mind - the catfish placed in the ’fish pond’ on the island had mostly been eaten by the Kronosaurus, but the fish reproduced too fast, and had to be culled to avoid affecting other fish species.

For the three tigers, it was large chunks of dinosaur meat, which they enjoyed immensely.

As for the two dogs, they were his own pets, so there was no way he would let them lose out. They ate from the same pot as him, sharing Therizinosaurus meat.

Usually, Yan Fei wasn’t a patient person, and raising these animals as pets was simply out of the question. But since he had food to give, these animals were happy enough with the daily delicious meals, unconcerned by his attitude.

Just like the dogs he started out with, he only fed them like guard dogs, yet they couldn’t resist his tasty food offerings. Even the large dogs borrowed from other people were won over by his food, leaving him without any reasonable explanation.

Animals were even more sensitive than humans. Yan Fei didn’t play around with them much, but he gave them unparalleled food and drink. Whether it was spring water to drink or dinosaur meat and eggs to eat, no other owner could provide such delicacies!

Furthermore, he would occasionally treat them to extra meals when he was in a good mood. In less than a month, these little fellows looked lively and plump. He wondered if the two golden eagles could still fly.

Hence, these animals remained obedient, knowing that as long as they didn’t provoke this human, their lives would be as blissful as little immortals. Even the golden eagle, famously known as the proud king of the skies, knew how to please him now.

After finishing his chores, he washed the pots and dishes, then fell straight to sleep without another word.

When he woke up, he busied himself in the two greenhouses, refilling the fire pits with dry cow dung and adding some firewood. He then returned to the dinosaur world and began to fly in a circular pattern around the forest where he discovered the bird yesterday, exploring uncharted areas.

It was still early, and it was just beginning to get light in the dinosaur world. Flying high above, the forest below was still blurry. But he didn’t need to see, just to listen.

The early bird catches the worm, and wouldn’t a bird who gets to eat worms sing happily?

So all he needed to do was follow the sounds.

When the sky brightened, the map had expanded quite a bit.

After coming back to the greenhouse and listening to the surrounding sounds, he was puzzled: What was going on? Why did it seem like Heizi was running over so early in the morning?

After waiting for a while, he finally saw Heizi struggling towards him. Upon arrival, Heizi started complaining, "The wind is so strong, I’m freezing! It would be so cool if we could all use old-school mobile phones. I wouldn’t have to run over when there’s something happening at the cattle farm, a simple call would be enough to get you informed. That would be so nice!"

"Come in and warm up by the fire! About old-school mobile phones, we would need to trade in several of our cows to get one, so just forget it. So what’s up at the cattle farm?" Yan Fei saw Heizi’s lips had turned purple from the cold and hurriedly invited him to warm up.

Although it stopped snowing today, the temperature has indeed dropped. Besides, the wind blowing along the way here from the river is quite piercing, making it uncomfortable for ordinary people as if they were being cut by a blade.

"The people at the Slaughter Pig Station asked if we’re selling our pigs? They’re offering a high price and guarantee it won’t be much lower than what we would get if we waited until after the New Year. They aren’t planning on ripping us off. They want to buy two pigs to take back." Heizi entered the greenhouse, standing by the fire pit as he spoke, stomping his feet against the cold.

"What happened? Are they running short of pigs to slaughter?" Yan Fei was quite curious. Was the Slaughter Pig Station running out of pigs?

"Well, it’s been snowing, hasn’t it? No one came to deliver pigs yesterday, and still nobody today. They’re worried this weather will continue, and their reserved pigs won’t be enough, so they’re preparing in advance. Imagine, if no one delivers pigs in the next few days, especially now when meat sells really well due to the New Year! They’d lose out on making money, right?"

Missing out on making money is a minor issue, but as the New Year is approaching, if there’s no meat to sell on the streets, the people from the Slaughter Pig Station would be scolded to death by the town folks!

"Then let’s give them the pigs! Besides, we have plenty of pigs and I’m worried we won’t be able to sell them all when the New Year is upon us! You make the decision, negotiate a good price with them, consider the surge in meat prices before the New Year, so our pig prices should also increase. Just make sure we aren’t at a loss."

"Hmm, rest assured! They’re shrewd, but we’re not idiots either. Last time they even mentioned how tasty our farm’s pork is, I remember that well! If they don’t agree to a higher price this time, they can forget about slaughtering our pigs. If necessary, we can slaughter and sell ourselves, can they still dictate us?"

"Hey, stop portraying me as a bully..."

"Normally they restrict private slaughtering of pigs but it’s lax during the New Year. Many people in the countryside slaughter their own pigs; they cannot control all of it. Whether we act dominantly or not is irrelevant. In my opinion, it’s best if we do it ourselves, saving us from giving them a cut of our profits!"

"Isn’t that too much trouble? It’s too tiresome to set up a stall at the crossroads for selling. This will suffice. If we have unsold pigs when the New Year is upon us, we can also slaughter a few and sell them ourselves. For now, let’s just give the pigs to them!" While Yan Fei was saying this, he noticed the fellow standing half a day by the fire hadn’t warmed up yet. He walked into his room, came out again with an additional leather jacket in his hand. "Here, wear this old leather jacket! I’m not using it anyway, you look like a freezing monkey."

Heizi’s face, already red from the cold, turned even redder. "I have a thick coat. It’s just that our cattle farm is filled with braziers and it doesn’t get cold while working, that’s why I didn’t wear it. I didn’t expect it to be so windy and cold beside the river. You still have to pull a cart to sell vegetables, wear this jacket to block the wind. If I wear your jacket, won’t people say I’m inconsiderate?"

Seeing Heizi refusing to take it, Yan Fei simply threw the jacket to him: "Enough, do you think I need this to block the wind? Just take it, stop being so wordy. Get warmed up and head back! We’re going to sell so many more pigs later on, we shouldn’t keep them waiting."

Only then did Heizi take the jacket, with a rare embarrassed face. He looked at it over and over again without putting it on. After a while, he exclaimed, "Brother Fei, your jacket is a brand-name, huh? Incredible, we don’t even sell these here, do we?"

Yan Fei chuckled, "Heh heh, I found it lying around, just put it on, stop staring."

Seeing Yan Fei’s grin, Heizi knew there was a story behind it but he didn’t pry further. Delighted, he slipped the jacket on. Keeping his chest out and head up, he looked ready to receive an award at a commendation ceremony - if only his leaking nose hadn’t ruined the image.

This jacket indeed was a name-brand one. It was the same one Yan Fei got last year when he bumped into someone while selling stuff in the city. But to Yan Fei, it was something he didn’t use nor paid for, so he didn’t think much of it.

After admiring himself in the jacket for quite some time, it was only when the runny nose reached his lips did Heizi realize. Wiping his nose, he cheerfully headed out, "Brother Fei, rest easy! I will definitely get us a good price for our pigs. This jacket is really warm, I’m off..."

(I won’t say much, this was after moving to my rental house, the first dinner. My wife carefully made two dishes and even bought a serving of cold dishes. Spent the whole night going to the bathroom multiple times, had a terrible stomachache... just like that... took some medication, the pain is gone but I still feel uncomfortable... utterly depressed...)
