Chapter 431: Chapter 131: Missed Sea Disaster, Tyrannosaurus rex, Mosasaur_3

After a brief pause in the forest, finding nothing particularly noteworthy, Yan Fei continued to fly forward.

Even the sight of fresh bones along the way no longer excited him – there were just too many. A single bone used to be a precious find from a Pterosaur’s nest, but now they were everywhere, easily spotted with a casual glance.

As he flew, he lost track of the direction he was supposed to be heading towards. Thankfully, there was the sun, or he would have been completely lost.

When he came across particularly tall peaks, gigantic trees, broad rivers, or distinct landscapes, he would make a note of the coordinates, making it easier to revisit them in the future.

Then something happened that left him kicking himself in regret.

When he saw a line of blue in the distance, he initially thought it was a river. However, after flying a bit further, he realized that it was actually the sea and the blue line he had seen was a strait.

As he flew closer, he noticed signs of a recent disaster - perhaps a hurricane or a tsunami. The forest by the sea was marked by the effects of wind and floods, and he could spot various animal corpses among the trees.

Along with land-dwelling dinosaurs, there were many marine ones too; Kronosaurus, Ichthyosaurs... It seemed that a lot of shallow water creatures had not been able to escape the disaster and had perished in it.

The air was filled with a strange smell, and numerous squawking Pterosaurs were swooping around looking for food, along with many small, scavenging dinosaurs. However, Yan Fei found the smell unbearable and quickly flew past, ignoring the dinosaurs below.

It was such a pity. If he had arrived earlier, he might not have been able to prevent the disaster, but he could have reaped some benefits from it. The potential benefits lost were enormous!

He firmly believed that if he had discovered this area when the disaster was taking place, he could’ve gained more abilities by now.

His heart ached with the pain of missed opportunities. As he flew over the strait, the sight of a massive body below caused him further grief.

A group of meat-eating dinosaurs, comparable in size to a Carcharodontosaurus, was feasting on the corpse of a colossal sea creature more than twenty meters long. Numerous smaller carnivorous dinosaurs could only watch from a distance, waiting for the large animals to finish their meal.

Yan Fei didn’t know whether to observe the carnivores first or the gigantic carcass.

One look at the meat-eating dinosaurs and he knew - these were Tyrannosaurus rex.

They had enormous heads even bigger than a Carcharodontosaurus, thick necks, muscular bodies, and short, chunky tails. Of course, there were also their iconic tiny forelimbs that seemed ridiculously small when compared to the rest of their bodies.

If he had been somewhere else, Yan Fei might have been interested in observing these Tyrannosaurus rex, but at that moment, he was too distracted.

For Yan Fei, who had never ventured far out into the sea even after his transformation into a Sarcosuchus, marine creatures attracted his attention more.

Unfortunately, he was too late. The body being feasted on by the Tyrannosaurus rex barely had any flesh left. After circling in the air for a while, Yan Fei could only discern that it was most likely a Mosasaur.

Mosasaur had a more aquatically adapted body, with a tail nearly half its body length and short, powerful flipper-like limbs, making it a perfect hunter in the sea. As a top predator in the ocean, it was an example of a creature that had evolved to near perfection.

Usually, these creatures were rare, preferring to hide and then ambush their prey.

Even a giant Sarcosuchus might not be a match for them in the sea, unless it cheated. After all, these creatures had honed their hunting skills and techniques in the ocean since their birth.

Heartbreak. Regret.

That was how Yan Fei felt.

Had he not slacked off before, had he discovered this area sooner, the disaster would have been a golden opportunity for him.

As for the idea of a disaster bringing about mass destruction, it was inevitable. Even in times when airplanes and rockets were available, disasters were still constantly occurring – it was an unavoidable part of life.

After feeling regretful for a while, Yan Fei perked up.

No, he had to explore more areas quickly. He couldn’t afford to miss out on opportunities like these again.

Opportunities only come to those who are prepared, and for Yan Fei, being prepared meant observing more places.

Picking a direction at random, Yan Fei dived back into his efforts with renewed determination...
