Chapter 428: Chapter 130: Hunting Carcharodontosaurus_1

Yan Fei felt quite embarrassed when later, he recalled not going to school after his talk with Teacher Guan Yue.

It wasn’t that he deliberately avoided this enthusiastic, beautiful, gentle, kind young woman teacher, but in the afternoon when he returned, he saw Gao Rui, a rehabilitated criminal who had left just a few days ago, at the cow farm again.

Gao Rui was somewhat embarrassed upon Yan Fei’s return, and could not manage to utter a word for quite a while.

Heizi, seeing him silent, did the talking for him, saying to Yan Fei, "Gao Dasha said that when he returned home, he was alone and couldn’t find any other work to do. He didn’t know what to do in his idle time, so he wanted to come and work at our cow farm. He wanted to know if you want him."

"It doesn’t matter whether it’s okay or not. Just come and work hard," Yan Fei felt that it didn’t really matter — having one more full-time worker on the cow farm would make things easier for everyone.

As for why Gao Rui couldn’t find a job elsewhere, he knew the reason. Who would want him with his reputation as a murderer and labor reformer? Even for casual labor, no one dared to hire him.

However, this problem was non-existent at Yan Fei’s farm! As long as he worked well, it didn’t matter whether he was a criminal not currently wanted by the police or otherwise. Besides, the prison had already released him, which indicated his good attitude towards repentance and that he had been punished for past wrongdoings, right? One should give him a chance to start anew.

Thinking like this, he suddenly felt that the red scarf on his chest became even more brightly colored — he only found out after a few days at school that middle schoolers can all be members of the Young Pioneers, and he knew without thinking that he had no chance. The red scarf he had from elementary school was only issued just before graduation, when the school distributed red scarves to all students who did not have one, which he had managed to get.

With Gao Rui’s arrival, Yan Fei no longer needed to help at the cow farm in the morning.

Since he didn’t need to come to the cow farm in the morning, he thought it would be too much hassle to travel the extra distance to school in the afternoon, so he decided not to go to school at all — it was over three miles from the greenhouse to the cow farm!

In actual fact, there was less than a month left before the final exams. Because he stopped attending classes, he lost the motivation to cheat by copying others in the exams. Feeling that it was pointless, Yan Fei didn’t even go for the exams in the end.

Poor Teacher Guan still worried about the day when he would come for tuition and she wouldn’t be there. So, she stayed in school as much as possible and never did see him up until the start of the school holiday...

With more time on his hands, Yan Fei spent it exploring Dinosaur World.

Day broke early in Dinosaur World. Yan Fei had already explored the area extensively in the morning, mapped out a lot of new places, and the Sancha River sky was just becoming slightly bright.

Upon returning to the greenhouse, he tossed a few pieces of wood into the furnace in the pool, listened for movements around him, then comforted the watchdog and the guard tiger, as well as the little creatures in the cages.

These "little" ones weren’t actually that small anymore. The two tiger cubs were almost as big as the Native Dog, and they definitely weighed much more. Although the two black bear cubs were smaller than the tiger cubs, they were really distressed being trapped in the cage. They stared at Yan Fei with their dark eyes, always rolling around and acting pitifully.

Then there were the Golden Eagle and the Sable, both were in the phase of growth spurts, they could not be let out of the cage at this point, Yan Fei worried they would turn out to be as useless as those in the zoo.

Before entering Dinosaur World again, he couldn’t bear it. After some thinking, he flew out for another round and brought back a few ’collars’, putting them on the two tiger cubs and two black bear cubs and then tying them outside.

Though they now had a collar around their necks, the four little ones seemed rather pleased to have the freedom to move around. They howled outside, rolling around and having fun, their excitement indescribable.

Watching these creatures, Yan Fei couldn’t help but think, when these little ones grow up, how safe his greenhouse would be!

Three tigers, two bears, tied around the greenhouse, and inside are three little sables. Add to that, two golden eagles in the sky and two large guard dogs on the ground ready to run anywhere. With security in the sky and on the ground, it felt incredibly safe. The thought of this made him feel highly of himself!

But in the end, it was all imagination. The three little sables couldn’t be let out of the cage as they were too small, in case they got lost in some grass burrow next to the river. The two little golden eagles were even worse, they were capable of fluttering and flying on the ground. If let them out, they might fly around and land on the greenhouse, their claws would definitely ruin the plastic greenhouse!

After a while, he stopped thinking about it. These little ones might be taken away at any moment. He had already spent enough time because of them, it was time to start exploring the ’new world’.

He had been too idle before and needed to be more diligent now.

He habitually scanned the little islands, and the places he had explored so far, looking for any ’missed’ opportunities. Suddenly, he made a new discovery.

Fortunately, because he took some time to settle these little ones, or else he would have missed this!

In a jungle with sparse, low bushes, a few Carcharodontosaurus were secretly watching a group of Ceratops. Both groups had come dangerously close for the bull-dragons, it seemed like the Carcharodontosaurus were about to move.

In the world of Dinosaurs, there are many types of horned Dinosaurs. The most famous Triceratops is a kind of Ceratops, there are many other peculiar shapes too. This group of Ceratops were about seven or eight meters long, with bodies similar to enlarged pigs. Of course, they, known as Ceratops, naturally had their signature long horns.

They only had two horns, directed straight ahead. It was these two long horns that made the Carcharodontosaurus careful, hesitant about launching an attack, attempting to get closer, to avoid any accidents while launching a surprise attack.

In nature there are no doctors, at most some parasitic type of dinosaurs may help other large dinosaurs clean their wounds with some sticky liquid from their mouths, promoting healing. They mostly could be considered nurses, minor injuries would be okay, but major injuries, there was no way. Also, it requires being coincidentally in the vicinity of these type of dinosaurs.

So even a near apex predatory dinosaur like Carcharodontosaurus, once it becomes injured in a way that affects its hunting ability and its competeition for food with its kind, it could be abandoned by its own kind and then be dismally devoured by other predatory dinosaurs before it starves to death.

Survival is just like that, yesterday’s hunter could very well become today’s hunted, in nature, there’re no eternal leaders.

You can’t say there isn’t, because for the world of dinosaurs, Yan Fei is the eternal leader, even if his current strength is not strong enough.

When Yan Fei saw that the Carcharodontosaurus and the Nedoceratops were about to fight, he decided not to explore new territories and prepared to ’pick up a leak’. Whether it’s Nedoceratops or Carcharodontosaurus, he wasn’t able to transform into either of them! This time, however, he didn’t plan to get a Carcharodontosaurus because there was a significant size difference between a Nedoceratops and a Carcharodontosaurus.

The name Nedoceratops was a term Yan Fei coined for this type of dinosaur. Similar dinosaurs were too many for him to match with those peculiar names.

As the Carcharodontosaurus approached, the Nedoceratops began to sense something and became restless. A heightened sense of danger caused them to gather together, so they even seemed to consider leaving the area.

The Carcharodontosaurus, sensitive to this development, almost simultaneously launched an attack.

The Nedoceratops herd reacted immediately, and almost without thinking, began running in one direction.

At the same time, two more Carcharodontosaurus burst out from their flank, roaring with their huge mouths wide open as they rushed forward.

Dogs that bite don’t bark, these roaring Carcharodontosaurus were only there to intimidate. They always hid their predatory intentions. Until the last moment, they would not let their prey guess who their target was.

While the Nedoceratops herd was fleeing, they intended to protect the younger ones in the middle. Those old or possibly diseased ones were ignored.

But this time, the Carcharodontosaurus did not choose the old, weak, sick, and disabled as their target. They singled out a young Nedoceratops who, most likely due to its robust health, was quite far from the herd.

By the time this Nedoceratops realised it was surrounded by Carcharodontosaurus and separated from the main Nedoceratops herd, it was already too late.
