Chapter 419: Chapter 124: Turtle Shell Wine_1

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

In the dinosaur world, a series of loud noises reverberated through the valley. Coolie No.1 and No.2 were trembling behind a newly built stove, pretending to cook, but in reality, they were on high alert.

It was terrifying!

They had seen the Sarcosuchus King’s scales before; in fact, they had been handling them for quite a few days now.

However, scales were just scales. How could they compare to a live Sarcosuchus king? Even though they had speculated about how terrifying such a monster with scales could be, they realized their imagination was not enough once they saw it. Facing the real Sarcosuchus king, even though they knew it was transformed by Yan Fei, their hearts trembled uncontrollably.

The nearly twenty-meter-long Sarcosuchus king was in the valley, oozing ferocious energy. Dust and small stones flew around as it swung its head and tail. It was biting into a shell as big as a house, gnawing and tossing it around. The sturdy stone walls on the cliffside, which had remained undamaged for tens of thousands of years, were being destroyed, piece by piece.

The two were watching out for the scattered rocks swept up by the Sarcosuchus king, even more afraid that the house-sized turtle shell might fly towards them if the creature failed to hold it tight in its mouth.

The turtle shell belonged to a prehistoric giant turtle that Yan Fei, disguised as a Sarcosuchus king, had killed. The Suchomimus leader later summoned his kin to feast on its flesh, leaving only a shell behind.

Not only the dorsal shell but also the plastron were left. The Suchomimus had enough food, and after feasting upon so much turtle meat, naturally, they would give up on the hard shells.

Such a large turtle shell would be garbage in the dinosaur world, but Yan Fei never looks down on waste — he treasured what he picked up!

While he spent his vacation with Miss Xu Xiaoyan, Yan Fei had more on his mind than just fun. He posed as a student of the Chinese Medicine Academy and spent several nights studying in the academy’s library.

He didn’t have to rummage around aimlessly for the information he needed. Xu Xiaoyan’s high school classmate, Zhou Beibei, was at the same university. After a dinner meant to win over this acquaintance, everything else became simple.

Hearing that Yan Fei wanted to find recipes for making medicinal wine, Zhou Beibei casually searched for hundreds of different formulas for him, regardless of their usefulness. Without hesitation, Yan Fei copied them all — who knows when they might come in handy. This could save them from the rush of dealing with things at the last minute.

Yan Fei’s thoughts were quite simple. The dragon bone wine could be sold in Sancha River without much concern. But if it were sold too broadly and someone suspicious learned about it, even though they couldn’t see his raw materials to make the wine, what if someone suspected that he was using tiger bones? There was no way he could explain otherwise, was there?

However, turtle shells were readily available in Chinese medicine shops. If he made wine out of turtle shell, what could anyone do to him? After all, the turtle shells had to be processed over and over, applying multiple steps like steaming, cooking, sunlight drying, and eventually grinding into powder to infuse in the wine.

If anyone suspected his turtle shell, "Here, have a look at the original material I used to make wine. If you are able, differentiate turtle shell powder mixed with other medicinal powders, then piece them together and prove that my turtle shell is as big as a house!"

That would be impossible!

So, this could definitely be sold without any guilt. It’s something that can be bought in drug stores, what can anyone do to me?

If it were just the ordinary turtle shells sold in drug stores, it wouldn’t be worth all the trouble for Yan Fei. But after a long time, he had gained enough confidence in the items from the dinosaur world. He believed that the shell of an ancient turtle, which might have lived for an immeasurable number of years, should be way more potent than those sold in drug stores.

After completing his vacation with his lady in Provincial City, he left the carefully prepared gift — a quilt—for her. Before he made his way back to Sancha River, he started working on the giant turtle shell.

She was pretty surprised when she touched the quilt. Even though it was sewn tightly, it felt different! Whether it was cotton or something else inside, one could always tell the difference. Furthermore, the quilt was clearly filled with animal fur, which anyone could feel.

Yan Fei clarified, "This is a ’reward’ caught from poachers. It’s processed and sewn into the quilt. It’s covered with a sheet to camouflage it that you can lay on your bed. It’s definitely warm — and remember to lay an extra sheet on top, in case anyone finds out."

Thinking about her confused expression at that time brought a smile of victory to Yan Fei’s face.

Boom!

With another thunderous bang, the turtle shell finally separated.

The separated pieces of the shell were still large. The original shell was composed of many sections, but now each piece was a whole in itself, without any cracks or gaps.

However, this wasn’t a concern because Yan Fei had prepared a gigantic pot over at the new stove built by Coolie No.1 and No.2. This pot was big enough to take the ’little pieces’ of turtle shell directly.

The rest was now up to the two Coolies. The two of them were strong enough to carry these sections of the shell.

The medicinal herbs were also ready, costing quite a bit of money - although these herbs were not particularly valuable, Yan Fei had bought so many of them.

He’d made a point of visiting multiple stores to buy the herbs to keep his intentions a secret. Even though it might not make much difference, maintaining an air of mystique was always a good thing!

After the hectic work, Yan Fei satisfied his hunger with a big meal. When he left the dinosaur world, dawn had not yet broken over Sancha River Town.

After reaching near the greenhouses, he took out parcels of medicinal herbs and woke up the sleepy Heizi to ask him about the situation over the past few days. Upon learning that everything was normal and that at least one puppy had been given away, Yan Fei was relieved.

He then instructed Heizi to take a morning meal break at the cattle farm before sending him away.

After inspecting the two greenhouses and finding the temperature inside acceptable, he noticed the embers still glowing in the pit dug inside the greenhouses for heating and concluded that Heizi was not slacking off.

He watered the two greenhouses. The water from the dinosaur world was relatively cooler in the morning, but it was still warmer than the greenhouses, contributing to their heating, a pleasant surprise.

Finishing an array of tasks and feeding the dogs, he headed off to the cattle farm.

Upon entering the farm, the first to greet him were the two dogs he had bought. They’d lost their previous luxury of eating meat daily. Seeing Yan Fei, they were extremely affectionate. With a wave of his hand, Yan Fei placed several pieces of meat on the ground for them to have a hearty meal.

Entering the inner courtyard of the farm, breakfast was not ready yet. The cattle feed was all prepared and a few people on the field were watching the convict Gao Rui teaching Gao Bin martial arts.

Yan Fei took a glance and lost interest. With his current abilities, he didn’t need to be concerned with the forms and stances. As for martial arts, he can be considered a master level. Understanding by analogy, he roughly assessed Gao Rui’s martial arts routines and techniques.

Gao Rui’s martial art style had features of animal movements. The forms showed stability, power, and a sense of boldness which, as he had claimed, were suitable for a strong and stout person like Gao Bin to learn.

When it was time for meals, Yan Fei took out two hundred Yuan and placed it in front of Gao Rui at the dining table. "You have been working here for quite some time, and the unpleasant incidents from the past are long gone. Consider this money as your return travel expenses. You are free now."

Gao Rui hesitated, looking at the money then at Yan Fei, and asked, "Can I wait for a few more days? I want to teach Gao Bin the rest of the routine. Is that okay?"

"Sure, you can stay a few more days if you like," Yan Fei nodded his head.

What’s bad about that? Stay as long as you like!

After lunch, Yan Fei sent Gao Rui away. Since Gao Bin couldn’t participate in the conversations, because he was deaf, Yan Fei sent him off to keep Gao Rui company and continue learning martial arts.

Gong Hanqing’s Grandfather, Old Gong, knew they had matters to discuss. He chuckled and said, ’I’ll go watch them practice martial arts,’ then left the room.

The old man was crafty. Although his eyesight wasn’t working well, his mind was sharp due to his household being well-off in the past.
