Chapter 402: Chapter 113 Tiger Bear Mink Eagle_1
As Lin Baoguo hurried towards his office after getting out of the car, he said to Yan Fei, "You should quickly come in and elaborate! I need to report to the county bureau first and have them prepare more people. As soon as we figure out the rendezvous location, we’ll capture whoever shows up..."
The interrogation process was swift. Although the two being interrogated were resistant, especially the one with the limp, their failure to stick together at the crucial moment worked against them. The remorseful driver confessed all he knew without putting up much of a fight.
As the criminal gang’s meeting point was located at the junction of two provinces, upon receiving Lin Baoguo’s report, the county bureau immediately dispatched officers to handle it, without needing their further assistance.
Additionally, these two had used a military vehicle and carried fake guns, which would require informing the army. Considering the cases involved wildlife smuggling, both the city’s Public Security Bureau and the Forestry Bureau must be informed. All in all, it was quite a headache.
However, the lion’s share of the trouble fell to the county bureau. All the people from Sancha River needed to do was to keep the criminals in custody and protect the evidence in the car.
Seeing that he wasn’t really needed now and noticing Lin Baoguo’s incessant phone calls, Yan Fei waved at him and intended to leave.
He stood by the car and started contemplating: he dealt with bone liquor every day, and he had spotted real tiger bones in the truck. Should he take some as his "hardship allowance" and later compare the medicinal effects with dragon bones?
A tiger skin would also be a great catch. Although dinosaur skin was thicker, it didn’t look as attractive as tiger skin!
With so many things in the truck, taking a tiger skin shouldn’t be an issue! He could re-upholster his recliner with it. How fantastic that would feel!
Seeing that the yard was empty, he quietly slipped to the back of the truck. Just as he was about to act, he heard a loud bang and saw Lin Baoguo running out. As he ran, he called out, "Xiao Fei, Xiao Fei..."
Lin headed towards the main gate, Yan Fei appeared from behind the truck. Yan Fei was relieved, "You haven’t left yet? So, you want to take a look at the animals in the car?"
"Indeed! The car reeks so much. I feel sorry for the animals in there and want to check whether they are all dead," Yan Fei casually replied.
"Great, just in time! We just got another call telling us to look after these wild animals..."
"Hold on, don’t include me in this. It’s the police station’s job, not ours..." Yan Fei became alert right away. Even though he had thoughts of taking some things, it didn’t mean he wanted to meddle in extraneous affairs!
Lin Baoguo, grinning, said, "Listen to me! There’s no space in the station. I want to borrow your cattle ranch to unload this cargo. Let the animals breathe some fresh air. You did say you felt sorry for them, right? Rest assured, as soon as higher authorities take over, these things will be gone. It won’t be for long."
Yan Fei was indeed curious about the animals, but he didn’t want to bring these smelly things to his cattle ranch. He refused on the spot, "It won’t be difficult to find a place, don’t cause trouble for me. I only have cattle on my ranch, what if these things are carrying contagious diseases?"
"No, it’s got to happen. After all, you brought this trouble upon us, so that’s decided. It’s only a waste of half a day. It won’t take much of your time," Seeing that he couldn’t persuade Yan Fei, Lin Baoguo bluntly gave up reasoning but still promised him some benefits: "Once this is over, you won’t be patrolling anymore."
Yan Fei nodded in agreement, "Don’t bring it to my cattle ranch then. As we have the vehicle, why don’t we just go to the vegetable greenhouse. It’s quiet there and no one goes there anyway."
"Okay!" Lin Baoguo agreed and shouted inside. "Wen Zheng, Changqing, both of you come out."
When they came out, he instructed them, "Stop what you’re doing and drive this truck to Yan Fei’s greenhouse. Unload all the stuff and let the animals out. Don’t let them suffocate."
By the time the three of them drove the vehicle out of the yard and reached the vegetable greenhouse, it was already daybreak.
The three men covered their noses and began unloading. The smell shouldn’t have been so strong in this weather, but no one had been cleaning the animals’ feces, which was sealed pretty well inside. The smell was unbearable. Thankfully, the curtain wasn’t tied down during the journey, which let the smell dissipate. The smell was much less than before, and it felt far better.
The vehicle was cluttered with various items, all precious commodities from animals: tiger skin, tiger bones, tiger penis, bear skin, bear gall bladder, bear paws, deer antlers, sable fur, the list goes on. After unloading, a huge pile of items was formed.
After all these items were moved out, the next task was to move the cages.
There were two young black bears, probably less than a year old, looking somewhat akin to dogs.
Three fluffy balls curled up together, of which Changqing said they were sables. Among the two fluffy white chicks that were starting to grow black feathers, Changqing said they were golden eagles.
Last were three tigers. One of them was probably under two years old. It was wounded on the upper part of its left front leg, probably from when it was captured.
The rest of the two were probably a few months old and were not bigger than a dog, but they were pretty heavy, probably around a hundred catties. They seemed lethargic. Despite their youth, they weren’t much trouble to move.
The older tiger was a bit more of a problem, as Yan Fei observed it still attempting to attack from within its cage, he decided to open the cage, grab it by the neck and pull it out.
While Yan Fei was holding the tiger, Changqing took the chance to check the wound, guessing it was a gunshot wound, though the bullet was not lodged within. The bleeding had stopped and it would recover on its own after a while.
Just the ten young animals and six cages. Although they were unwell, none of them seemed to be in life-threatening conditions. It was to be expected. The criminals who captured them aimed to sell them for money. Dead animals would be worthless.
This worked out well for Yan Fei and his team. They spared the trouble of caring for these little creatures. All they had to do was take them out, let them breathe in some fresh air, and then let them be taken away.
Having been busy for a while and seeing that it was now daybreak, Yan Fei fixed some breakfast. After eating, the three of them began idling away.
During their downtime, Yan Fei made snacks and fed the animals. The biggest tiger was quite large and its cage was too small. It had to curl up inside, which looked pitiful.
