Chapter 401: Chapter 112: My Gun is the Most Realistic_1

As soon as Yan Fei heard about the rare animals, he became interested, "Take me to see."

The driver obediently took him to the back door. The man who had been tied up was still shouting, "Brother, you won’t be able to sell this stuff we’re transporting with no connections. Take anything you want, just let us go..."

The man was now actively addressing the driver as his brother, but unfortunately, his ’brother’ had already given up on him. The driver, however, was very compliant to Yan Fei. He untied the iron wire bounding the cargo and drew back the curtain of the van.

So stinky!

As soon as the driver opened the curtain of the van, a horrible smell erupted.

Inside, fur, bones, and other goods were neatly arranged, and at the far end, numerous cages housed live animals making all sorts of noises. Even with Yan Fei’s sharp eyesight, he couldn’t make out what they all were.

Yan Fei didn’t need to look closely; these two men transporting a van full of rare animals and materials were caught red-handed in a major case. Considering they had people coming to pick up the goods, it was best to take them to the police station swiftly!

"Cover it up! Get in the car, drive, and follow my directions. I’m taking you and your cargo." Yan Fei ordered without revealing where he intended to take them, and gestured for the driver to start the vehicle.

He then stuffed the bound man into the van, picked up the two weapons on the ground, and finally got in himself.

On the road, the driver drove silently under Yan Fei’s command. He seemed to have resigned himself to his fate—he was less ferocious than the man beside him. Even when they had struggled earlier, he was clearly much less threatening. Unlike the other guy, who can hardly even stand, he was still able to drive.

Though unable to straighten his legs, the other man didn’t stop trying to negotiate with Yan Fei, hoping for some leniency. After being slapped by Yan Fei a couple of times, he finally shut up.

Fortunately, the local police station was well-staffed these days, with the officers resting in the station’s temporary lodging. When Yan Fei arrived at the gate of the police station, he instructed the driver to honk the horn loudly, causing quite a commotion.

He then called for the gate to be fully opened. Without time to ask more questions, and knowing Yan Fei was on board, the officers quickly opened the gate.

Yan Fei looked at the gate and asked the driver, "Can you get this through?"

The man bound in the vehicle turned ashen-faced after seeing the police station. Surprisingly, there was a certain degree of relief visible on the driver’s face. When Yan Fei asked his question, he nodded and responded, "Just clear the way and make sure there’s no one in the pathway."

Confident.

Yan Fei felt that it would be a tight fit due to the van’s roof and the gate above. Watching as the van slowly passed through, he couldn’t help but comment to the driver, "With your driving skills, you could be doing anything. Why work for these lowlifes? You’re always under the threat of being abandoned to save their bosses. Don’t you feel wronged? Get out of the car now! Confess everything properly, maybe you’ll get some leniency."

By now, everyone in the station had gathered in the yard, which was lit brightly by outdoor lamps. The yard seemed pretty cramped as the large van occupied most of it, causing a small crowd to gather to one side.

After hearing Yan Fei’s words, the driver fell silent, his eyes darkening. He turned off the engine, made sure the car was in gear, performed a quick inspection of the vehicle, and only then did he get out. He raised his hands towards the surrounding officers and said, "I’m the driver for these men involved in poaching and illegal transporting of wild animals."

Good attitude.

But considering Yan Fei’s previous arrests, this behavior didn’t surprise anyone.

If Yan Fei knew what they were thinking, he would definitely object. He hadn’t initiated the conflict this time. The two men were just aggravated by their own partner’s betrayal. They were most likely determined to turn over a new leaf hence the willing demeanor—well, being beaten into submission could also be a factor.

Watching as the driver was handcuffed, Yan Fei then threw another man off the van. Tightly bound and shoved in the van by Yan Fei, the man also had a leg injury. He was in immense pain.

He started to scream as soon as he hit the ground.

Served him right!

If he hadn’t exerted his full strength when trying to hit Yan Fei, this wouldn’t have happened.

Yan Fei warned everyone, "You need to interrogate them fast. They have a connection who’s meeting them at dawn. The case is urgent. His injury isn’t major, and won’t kill him. It’s better not to waste time sending him to the hospital before he’s confessed. Be careful, they’re seasoned criminals and are very agile. You can’t afford to delay this. Where’s my uncle? Hurry up and call him over!"

Even though they seemed cooperative for now, who knew what these criminals were planning in their minds!

The local police station was primitive and the officers were inexperienced at dealing with criminals of this caliber. Although their injuries seemed minor, one could never predict when they might seize an opportunity to escape—death awaited whether they escaped or not. But it was better to try to escape from a small rural police station than from a heavily guarded jail.

"Mm, mm, someone’s already gone to call him." Hearing Yan Fei’s explanation, everyone nodded understandingly. Some officers then untied the criminal who was screaming and replaced his bindings with handcuffs.

As the officers were about to take him inside, Yan Fei reminded, "There are a few weapons in the van, don’t forget to retrieve them!"

The officers laughed, "Don’t worry, we won’t leave anything out."

Then came the sound of a bicycle outside, followed by a voice, "What’s going on? Why is there a van back here?"

Yan Fei turned around to see Dang Wenzheng and Xiang Changqing coming back. He grinned and said, "Poaching and smuggling wild animals. I caught them red-handed. How about that? Isn’t your new recruit impressive?"

Not only were Dang and Xiang envious after hearing this, but those busy at work also envied his luck: such a great opportunity to build his reputation! Why did all the criminals seem to run into him!?

The two arrested men reacted quite differently, both so shocked that they almost puked: Shit! The officer who nabbed them was not plainclothes police; he was a militia man, and a new, raw recruit at that. They had weathered all sorts of storms, but to fall into such a trap, they felt like dying right then and there...

Yan Fei didn’t forget the task at hand after bragging, "Are you two back already? What time is it now? Hurry! Leave the stuff in the van for now, and help with the interrogation! They have a boss, and other connections. It’s an organized group..."

Dang Wenzheng and Xiang Changqing stopped bantering, parked their bikes, and came over to help take the suspects inside for questioning.

That’s when Lin Baoguo arrived with the other officer. Seeing him in the yard, Lin promptly got the gist of the matter from Yan Fei. Lin then climbed into the van with a flashlight.

Watching Lin stick his head into the van and then hastily withdraw it, Yan Fei couldn’t help but grin.

Almost asphyxiated from the stench, Lin Baoguo turned to look at Yan Fei who was chuckling at his discomfort. Annoyed, he snapped, "Are you going to come and hold this curtain for me?"

Another officer saw this and promptly approached, with him and Yan Fei each holding one side of the curtain. Lin Baoguo took out a handkerchief to cover his nose and entered the van, taking a look around before jumping back out.
