The place to acquire earthworms was quite hard to find, situated in a rather remote area on the outskirts of the city, in a feed factory.

The number of households that raise earthworms has decreased significantly. When Yan Fei asked a knitting older woman sitting at the entry, she gave him information warmly after learning about his interest in selling earthworms.

There are not too many people who come to sell earthworms to the factory, so there’s no specific place appointed for the transaction. The older woman told Yan Fei that if he brought earthworms, he could directly deliver them to the warehouse. The person in charge of it would handle the buying process, assuring him that there are always people present at the warehouse.

This was very convenient because he didn’t need to worry about finding no one there. He could go whenever he wanted.

Upon hearing that Yan Fei was from a location far from the Provincial City, the older woman directly told him that he could bring dried ones. He would get at least fifty or sixty yuan per catty depending on the quality. The price was generally fixed, so he didn’t need to worry.

The drying method for earthworms was provided in the information that Yan Fei had obtained, so he didn’t need the older woman to explain it again. Still, her enthusiasm made him feel quite guilty. He felt he owed her and should have brought some earthworms with him at least!

Having bid farewell to the warm older woman, Yan Fei immediately dived into the library of the Agricultural University to research what fruit trees would suit his dinosaur world valley best.

After conducting extensive research, he found the issue came back to the question of the seeds.

The valley could probably be considered a tropical region! If he searched according to the available information, he would discover that the majority of the fruit he could grow there were completely unfamiliar to him even the seedlings, let alone the mature fruits.

It seemed he could only address this issue in the future.

As it was getting late, he hurried back to prepare lunch.

He hadn’t finished preparing when Miss Xu Xiaoyan arrived.

On seeing Yan Fei, Miss Xu Xiaoyan erupted into joy. Before her excitement had even settled, she noticed the ’ingredients’ Yan Fei was preparing and was astonished. "Yan Xiaofei, what on earth are you preparing? Is this slimy, little creature even edible?"

"What do you mean, ’slimy little creature’? I can see you’ve never encountered one!" Yan Fei could not help but smile wryly. "This is squid, a rare find from the sea. I was lucky to come across a seller."

Xu Xiaoyan’s surprise was evident. "Really? I’ve never come across one before. How is it that you always manage to stumble upon things that others cannot find? What’s the deal with these crabs and prawns?"

"Ah, I didn’t have anything to bring, and these creatures with their claws are difficult to transport. So, I decided to remove some parts." Yan Fei responded confidently. Those crabs and prawns, with their strange appearances, would scare you if I didn’t remove some parts. I did this by considering your feelings.

"Hmm, hmm, hmm, I’ll give you a reward then." Hearing about the reward, Yan Fei joyfully leaned forward, only for Miss Xu Xiaoyan to give him a piece of cut tomato instead. "Did you know? Last month we accomplished a significant mission."

"What significant mission?" Having not received the kiss he expected, Yan Fei listlessly asked while cooking.

"Look how deflated you are! Okay, okay!" Xu Xiaoyan said whilst nudging her face up against his. "Feeling better now? After you left last month, we brought a few additional people from Yangyang’s hometown to sell peanuts."

"How does that make a ’significant mission’?" Yan Fei felt that this idea was pretty similar to the one he proposed before leaving, wasn’t it?

"Wait, wait! Hear me out! Later, we had an older woman selling peanuts at the train station. The store owner there claimed that our peanut sales were affecting his business and tried to forbid us from selling there. When the older woman tried to shift to another spot to sell, the store owner’s son demanded compensation for the lost business incurred that afternoon. Naturally, the older woman disagreed and a quarrel ensued."

"Then what happened?" Yan Fei could tell that they had run into a local bully.

When Xu Xiaoyan reached this point, her voice hardened: "They injured the older woman’s head. It cost tens of dollars just to bandage her up at the hospital!"

"What about the police? Aren’t there always patrol officers at the train station?"

"She wasn’t attacked during the quarrel. After arguing, the older woman quickly departed. But when she switched to another location to sell peanuts, someone came and assaulted her." Xu Xiaoyan clenched her teeth in anger. "After the assault, the man ran away. Yangyang brought them to report the incident to the police station for several days, but they haven’t caught the perpetrator yet."

"What happened next?"

"Next, we wrote a collective letter to the newspaper and got signatures from most of the girls in our class." Xu Xiaoyan’s emotions surged as she spoke of this. "Now, the man who attacked her has been captured. Apparently, he is to be detained for fifteen days, and they’ve even paid the medical expenses."

"And now?" Yan Fei inquired further.

"Now there’s nothing to worry about. Haven’t you thought about it? We were so many people who collectively wrote to a newspaper, wouldn’t they be scared if they didn’t catch the man quickly?" Miss Xu Xiaoyan spoke excitedly, but then turned gloomy, "Sadly, the man claimed he bought peanuts that tasted bad and so tried to take revenge. We all think it was the store owner who instigated the crime. There’s no evidence, so we can’t catch him."

One could get their head fractured for selling peanuts. Is doing business in the Provincial City really this hard? Yan Fei turned his attention back to the topic at hand and called out to Miss Xu Xiaoyan, "Quick, serve the dishes! They won’t taste good once they cool down. They will become quite fishy. We should eat while it’s hot."

Miss Xu Xiaoyan immediately abandoned the subject to help serve the food. As the two of them settled down to taste the ’seafood’, Yan Fei casually asked, "They were selling peanuts, how did they come into conflict with the store owner? What does that store sell? They also sell peanuts?"

"No? How can a store only sell one item? That shop sells everything: peanuts, melon seeds, sugar, biscuits, canned food, drinks, etc. It’s a pretty big store! It’s located right next to the bus station exit, called Dahong Grocery. Everything at the station is expensive. We theorize that because our products were cheaper, they were envious of our booming business!"

"Alright, I got it. Quickly eat your food before it cools down. Don’t have too much of the seafood for now. What if you get sick from it? We’ve never had this before."

"Isn’t this something new? You were the one who brought it. It’s not fair if you don’t let me eat any!" Miss Xu Xiaoyan expressed her little displeasure. "By the way, what are you planning for the afternoon? I only have one class left this afternoon. Should I skip it to hang out with you?"

"This afternoon?" Yan Fei hesitated. "Isn’t your course important?"

"Don’t worry!" When it came to academics, Miss Xu Xiaoyan exuded confidence. "I learned the material ahead of time, so whether I attend this class or not, it would be the same. Even if I do go, I’ll just be studying other courses. It won’t interfere with my studies."

"Alright then." Yan Fei nodded. "This afternoon, we’ll go find Little Dark-skinned Girl first and get her to return my five hundred yuan. We won’t get involved in this business anymore after this."
