Chapter 343: Chapter 63 Valley_1

Thinking indeed about having someone else help him with his work, Yan Fei felt instantly happy.

Before, when he set foot in the dinosaur world, it always felt like there was endless work to do, that he never really could relax. Now, with two extra sets of hands, he instantly felt lighter, refreshed even!

He went and caught another fish - given his constant quarrel with the fish in the dinosaur world, he was determined to find a fish that would taste good no matter how it was cooked.

This time he wouldn’t stew it, rather he’d roast it.

He purposely chose a smaller fish, only a little over a meter long and weighing about fifty to sixty catty. After skewering it with a wooden rod, he started roasting it.

While roasting the fish, he leisurely considered which condiments to use. Life was very laid-back.

Once the fish seemed about done, Yan Fei started to become busy with a knife and a brush, making incisions in the fish and brushing in the condiment. This was necessary due to the thickness of the fish: if the aroma didn’t seep into the meat and it ended up tasting bad, it would be a waste of effort.

Thankfully, after the fish was roasted, he was somewhat satisfied with the results. The fish was not exactly delicious, but it wasn’t that bad either: the texture was somewhat coarse, and it had a strong fishy smell.

This was his first time roasting fish and his technique wasn’t the greatest, only the outside of the fish tasted okay, but the inside... not so much.

Originally, he thought about giving the leftover fish to the dogs, but when he saw the five exuberant dogs running around, he realized it wasn’t right to treat the dogs guarding his house in such a bad way.

So, the two workers, busy at work, suddenly saw a large fish falling from the sky.

Although not much flesh was left on it, it was still meat!

The two workers then began feasting with great joy.

The taste didn’t matter! Anyone who had been on the run in the middle of the night, been beaten multiple times, waited for death for an entire day and then chopped wood for half of the day without eating anything, they wouldn’t care about the flavor of their meal.

Having prepared some stew with the meat, Yan Fei then went inside his cabin and laid down.

He woke up in the early morning, looked at the sky, and then went to Vegetable Garden Island.

He took the stew out to feed the dogs and then disappeared.

Just when daylight was beginning to break in the sky over the large river in the dinosaur world, a pterosaur flying above the river began circling around.

Looking to find a suitable valley for farming, Yan Fei found that water was imperative. So, he followed the river upstream, observing the tributaries flowing from the mountains along the way.

He explored each tributary, checking if they passed through valleys suitable for farming.

Instead of aimlessly flying around, Yan Fei felt it would be far more effective to follow the water source.

The magnificent beauty of the dinosaur world began to slowly unfold before Yan Fei.

Lively but filled with bloody fights everywhere.

Among the high mountains and large rivers, a variety of peculiar creatures, each one more astounding than the last, showed Yan Fei the magic of the dinosaur world.

Since he was mainly searching among the mountains, there weren’t any large dinosaurs, but many small and medium-sized ones.

Apart from the ones he’d seen before on the island, famous herbivorous dinosaurs like Triceratops, Styracosaurus, and Corythosaurus appeared.

However, carnivorous dinosaurs were generally low-key, hiding away. Unless they were preparing to strike a fatal blow to their prey, they preferred not to disclose themselves to other animals.

But one species of carnivorous dinosaur, a little smaller than Deinonychus, was spotted by Yan Fei while it was brazenly chasing prey.

Even at this moment, Yan Fei didn’t have time to observe them as he had just seen another renowned crocodile in the big river and hadn’t paused to observe it.

Its fame was indeed well-deserved.

With a body length comparable to the Sarcosuchus, but a build that seemed even more majestic and intimidating than the Sarcosuchus. Compared to the lean Sarcosuchus, these crocodiles looked more robust, especially their heads and mouths, which appeared larger and stronger, making them look much more terrifying — of course, this was just Yan Fei’s own feeling.

This was the Sarcosuchus!

They seemed to be lying by the water like rocks, only a few accompanying birds were hopping around them. There were no other creatures daring to approach these guys, thereby inviting their own death.

When Yan Fei flew overhead, he just noticed a few Sarcosuchus with particularly large bodies, and then left without any hesitation.

Right now, for him, his main focus was on the terrain.

As for the Sarcosuchus that caught his attention or the ones he targeted, which one would be in trouble and how much trouble it would be in, would all depend on what Yan Fei intended to do in the future.

At the moment, whenever he saw a valley, he would study it carefully. Did it have a water source, could the terrain around it prevent all dinosaurs from entering, was the entrance easy to block, etc., everything needed to be considered.

From time to time, pterosaurs would come to pester him. Fortunately, with the variety of creatures he’d turned into by now, he had gained ample experience in aerial battles. All the pterosaurs that came to attack him or protect their territory were effortlessly defeated and chased away by him.

Nevertheless, these minor disturbances did delay his valley-hunting quest.

No matter, he had the time to check on the state of the greenhouse, so he simply spent his morning just flying around.

As for the greenhouse, leaving two dogs to watch over it was enough, people rarely came around there. The other three dogs were taken by Yan Fei to their old home, the Vegetable Garden Island, after they had eaten.

It wasn’t until almost noon that he found a valley which wasn’t entirely satisfactory but was workable.

The valley was quite large, and apart from the exit, it was surrounded by cliffs. There were waterfalls, ponds, streams, and not a lot of plants or dinosaurs, and those that were there were small.

The unsatisfactory part was that there weren’t many trees and the lack of dinosaurs meant there was a reason for it - there were too many rocks in the valley.

Another problem was that the exit was too wide, so even if there were no large dinosaurs nearby, it remained a potential safety hazard - nobody would want to spend months growing crops only to have a large dinosaur barge in and frolic around in their vegetable field.

Whether satisfactory or not, Yan Fei didn’t feel like searching any more.

Even if he found the perfect place he imagined, it would definitely be lush with vegetation and filled with dinosaurs; it would still take effort to transform it.

Instead of choosing between cutting down trees and moving rocks, Yan Fei chose the latter. After all, you just need to move the rocks away, while you need to uproot the trees if you want to plant vegetables!
