Carrying a Jurassic on me
Chapter 310 - 30: The Shrinkable Big Sword_1

Chapter 310: Chapter 30: The Shrinkable Big Sword_1

The back of the Futalognkosaurus was large enough to not just hold one person, but it had enough room for a few people to lie down, too.

It’s really hard to understand the shock of suddenly seeing such a huge creature unless you’re actually there. The pillar-like legs shake the ground with each step it takes, and every tremble of its body feels as though it’s causing an earthquake.

And Yan Fei wasn’t the only creature standing on the Futalognkosaurus’ back. Every so often, small Pterosaurs could be seen circling the Futalognkosaurus, plucking unknown parasitic insects from the folds in its skin and eating them.

The Pterosaurs were about the size of pigeons, with sickle-shaped wings reminiscent of swallows. Of course, their sharp, long, slightly upward-curling beaks full of teeth and their slender tails didn’t resemble birds in human society at all.

Observing these small Pterosaurs, Yan Fei had a thought.

When one of the Pterosaurs happened to fly nonchalantly past him, he swatted it out of the air.

The Pterosaur let out a squeal as it fell victim to his strike.

Before the other Pterosaurs could react, the perpetrator had vanished.

After a while, a peculiar new Pterosaur had appeared on the back of the Futalognkosaurus.

While the other Pterosaurs were busy helping the Futalognkosaurus get rid of parasites, this one was peering around curiously, even flying up to perch on the Futalognkosaurus’ head for a bit.

It’s a bit too big, isn’t it?

In the dinosaur world, this little Pterosaur was a tiny helper for the Futalognkosaurus in getting rid of parasites. But in human cities, with such a large size and strange appearance, it would be hard not to attract attention.

The cinerous vulture could pass off as an eagle in comparison!

Seeing a small moth fly off from a branch shaken by the Futalognkosaurus, Yan Fei had an idea and flew off into the forest.

When it comes to transforming into something small and inconspicuous, insects are the way to go!

The forest by the sea was dense, full of countless small creatures, so the addition of a nimble Pterosaur went largely unnoticed.

Land ecosystems are really quite different from those on islands!

Besides all the small dinosaurs flying and running around in the forest, there were also butterflies, ants, moths, wasps, mosquitoes, spiders, and the like. There were countless species, many of which were too peculiar and too many to even name.

Some were so large they were frightening, and others so small you couldn’t see them clearly unless you paid close attention.

Small insects weren’t too bad, but once they grew larger, most of them looked quite vicious and terrifying. However, Yan Fei wasn’t interested in these larger insects, he ignored them as long as they didn’t bother him.

He only paid attention to insects of similar size to those in human society, although some slightly larger ones were also acceptable.

For instance, wasps.

A wasp, about five or six centimeters long, was proudly flying around a bush when its body was abruptly severed in half by an extended beak. Its two halves writhed a few times on the ground before stopping completely.

Then another wasp appeared, hovered for a moment, turned into a Pterosaur, and continued to hunt in the forest.

This Pterosaur victimized an ant, then became an ant for a bit; it victimized a butterfly and became a butterfly for a bit.

Before long, the trees began to thin out and the Pterosaur, which had devastated countless small creatures, suddenly realized it had flown out of the vast forest.

Before him was a great river. The location was already the mouth of the river leading to the sea. It was not surprising to enter the woods from the beach and then emerge from here. The fortunate thing was that not far away was where he had fought the Suchomimus at night.

The area was only dotted with a few large trees, and did not have many fern-like plants on the ground.

This was exactly the place that Yan Fei had set his sights on yesterday. It was located near mountains and water, with both the sea and river present, making it an ideal spot for establishing a large vegetable garden!

Of course, there was no rush at the moment. He still needed to inspect the surrounding area more carefully.

As for establishing a garden, it was not something that could be accomplished in just a few weeks. Just thinking about the size of those Futalognkosaurus, he could imagine how high a fence or perimeter wall would need to be to keep these giant creatures out.

Having chased off the Suchomimus just last night, there was no need to inspect the land anymore. Yan Fei didn’t believe that this predator would peacefully coexist with other carnivores of similar size.

Up next, it was time for the Kronosaurus to take the stage.

He dared not go into the sea, but the mouth of this big river where it flowed into the sea was presumably safe as long as he was cautious.

As soon as he entered the river, he got a surprise.

Swarms of strange fish sporting large swords were swimming upstream against the current, filing in line and crowding towards the source of the river.

Of course, by large swords, he didn’t mean real swords forged by humans from metal, but rather the long part in front of their heads that looked like a large sword, with serrations on its edge. These swords were more than two meters long, and the bodies of these fish were as long as seven or eight meters!

This type of fish was documented in the book "Ancient Bones" that Yan Fei had purchased. The book informed him of the fish’s name: Onchopristis, an extinct type of ancient swordfish.

Probably, these Onchopristis were returning to the upper spawning area of the large river to lay their eggs, hence they were moving upstream in groups. No wonder the Suchomimus yesterday ignored him! The river was teeming with food. Why would it bother with anything else?

The Kronosaurus wisely stayed on the riverbank and didn’t crowd into the path of these Onchopristis. If he was accidentally hit by those great swords, it would, although not dangerous, cause him pain.

The sea was truly dangerous. Such large fish were moving in groups. One could guess how many larger monsters must be out there!

After a large wave of Onchopristis passed and the following Onchopristis gradually dwindled, the Kronosaurus began to slowly move along the riverbed.

The riverbed was incredibly clean. After the large wave of Onchopristis passed just now, almost all of the other fish had hidden, and only tiny creatures were leisurely swimming around in the water.

The Kronosaurus sneakily transformed into a Terrestrisuchus at the bottom of the river and hid there. He waited for a lone Onchopristis to swim past and then sprung up suddenly, biting directly into the body of the Onchopristis.

Truthfully, this Onchopristis was slightly longer than the Terrestrisuchus, but under surprise attack, it had virtually no power to resist. In an instant, there was a flood of fresh blood. When the red mist cleared, neither the Terrestrisuchus nor Onchopristis were to be seen.

After a while, the Terrestrisuchus reappeared. However, in the blink of an eye, it had transformed back into an Onchopristis, subtly swimming along and camouflaging itself as a ’comrade’ among the passing Onchopristis.

The mouth of the river leading to the sea was infinitely broad, and it would take quite a while to traverse it, not to mention inspecting it carefully.

After a little while, just as Yan Fei was preparing to leave, an abnormal movement at the bottom of the river caught his attention.

Swimming over for a closer look, he was instantly overjoyed!

Was there even this kind of creature in the dinosaur world?

He was truly lucky! Now he would not worry about having nothing to bring back for the girls tomorrow!
