Chapter 295: Chapter 16 Pinching Feet Known By Everyone_1
After dinner, when Xu Xiaoyan delivered the meal box to the dormitory, Yan Fei and she started wandering around the campus.
It was indeed quite boring. No matter how big the campus was, it couldn’t withstand such aimless walking!
All this had begun when, after dinner, Yan Fei realized that the girl had a full day of classes the next day and suggested she go rest early. She replied wistfully, "College is not high school. The dormitory doesn’t close till eleven at night, so I can go back just before that."
Yan Fei didn’t have anything to do that evening anyway, so he decided to let the idea of copying books rest for a while!
Copying books to raise cattle, raising cattle to earn money, earning money to marry a wife.
If his future wife was right beside him, and he went to copy books instead of accompanying her, wouldn’t that be getting his priorities wrong?
After walking for a while, the girl asked, "Tired? Shall we sit over there?"
Looking at the dimly lit little school garden she was pointing at, Yan Fei instantly felt exhausted and could not move another step. He was so tired!
Once they had found a secluded spot, as soon as the girl arranged her skirt to sit down, Yan Fei moved closer to her with a grin.
"Keep your distance!" The girl pointed to the side.
Yan Fei obediently sat a bit farther away and was about to start using his magical ability to teleport back when the girl said, "Stretch out your leg."
"What for?" Yan Fei halted his magic ability and asked puzzledly.
"Just do it!" The girl’s face was dead serious.
Before he could reply, she arranged the edges of her skirt on her thigh, bent slightly and lifted one of his legs, "Put it here."
"What are you doing?" Yan Fei asked as he obediently let the girl place his leg on her floral skirt. His old, dirty army-green trousers looked quite discordant against her pretty white floral skirt.
Next, she took off his old leather shoes and started kneading his foot.
Yan Fei’s feet, subject to his seventy-two changes, didn’t stink, but inevitably his socks were dirty. Under the dim light, as the girl’s delicate little hands kneaded his foot, he started to feel oddly uncomfortable.
"What’s wrong?" He squirmed a bit and asked her.
"Keep quiet." She adjusted herself to make him more comfortable. "You must be tired, right? If you want to come here next time, take the bus earlier. We don’t care about the bus fare, but don’t bring me food anymore, it’s hard to carry on the road. Do you promise me?"
"You don’t really think I ran all the way here, do you? I really rode the bus, I’m not lying to you. Otherwise, I would be all sweaty! Look, there’s not a single drop of sweat on my feet." Yan Fei explained, feeling a bit awkward.
"I don’t care. Anyway, you have to promise me. Got it?" The girl said, released his foot and started kneading his calf through his trousers.
"Alright! But I can bring food! What’s carrying a thermos on the bus, I didn’t bring anything else. Plus, I really had other business this time! I’m not lying to you, but I won’t tell you now. I’ll tell you when it’s done." As he was still searching for Wang Dafu, Yan Fei was confident he could find him, but he didn’t want the girl to know about the thing with the cow dung.
"I don’t care. Anyway, do what you have to do and don’t let me delay your business, alright? And don’t try to be tough! Now that you’re earning money, use money to solve problems that can be solved with money. Take the bus instead of walking, and don’t use a bike. Got it?"
"Yes!" Seeing the girl’s ’frugal’ nature, even telling him that if money could solve it, then spend the money, Yan Fei nodded honestly.
The girl stopped talking and started massaging him earnestly until it was almost time to return to the dormitory. Apart from the words, "Switch to the other leg," she didn’t say anything else.
The next day, Yan Fei went early to the Agricultural University and embarked on his journey to track down Wang Dafu.
Xu Xiaoyan told him to continue working on what he needed to do, as she had to attend classes all day. Yan Fei observed her resolve and promptly headed back to the Agricultural University.
The Agricultural University cafeteria was not the only one. There was a small cafeteria down a small road next to several large ones. The food was comparatively better there, and it was rumored that even professors who didn’t want to cook often ate there.
Yan Fei thus no longer stood at the entrance of the big cafeteria, choosing instead to stand at the corner. That way, anyone coming out from all the cafeterias could be approached by him. Plus, there was a water room beside the spot he was standing at, which had a line-up of open-air faucets meant for students to wash dishes and fetch hot water, making it very convenient for him to approach anyone who passed by.
Unfortunately, he gained nothing at all, apart from some unfavorable news.
An instructor informed him that Wang Dafu might be a former student of the Agricultural University who, after graduation, got involved in related work and wrote the article in his spare time.
But that doesn’t mean he no longer had any hope. The instructor told him that generally, students who were involved in agriculture-related work might still be in touch with teachers and students of the University. If he asked the right people, he might still find this person.
However, anyone who mentions the name of the Agricultural University in their writing is undoubtedly associated with the University in one way or another, only that he might have very few leads. Especially if Wang Dafu was a former graduate, there wouldn’t be too many people left who still remembered him - now, apart from the name Wang Dafu, there is no other information. Finding him is genuinely challenging.
Well, that was as good as saying nothing, but the young instructor did say he could help inquire about it, which was of some consolation to him.
That evening, he accompanied the girl for dinner as usual. When she asked him how his matters were going, Yan Fei pretended things were going perfectly and said he had sorted everything out.
So the weekend was spent happily wandering around campus with the girl.
When it was time to part, fearing she would worry, he told her he was going back.
And he did go back, flying back to the cattle farm to take a look, without even disturbing a few dogs, quietly flying back again.
When he returned to the Provincial City, it was already morning. He found a spot to land outside and boarded a bus passing by the Provincial Agricultural University. After getting off at the station, he went straight to the canteen.
Lunch, dinner.
He spent two more meals questioning people but to no avail.
Although he thought he was inconspicuous enough, standing in such a place at the corner trying not to draw attention, his questioning every other person still sparked some rumors across campus.
That night at the library, he realized that everyone knew about his person-hunting expedition. Even the library director knew about it and asked him, "I heard you read an article here and want to find the author?"
Yan Fei’s spirit lifted immediately. Could it be that he had a clue?
He immediately told the director in detail about the content of the article he had read and which edition of the magazine it had been published in.
"From what you’ve mentioned, I think you might not find him in the cafeteria. This person might have some relationship with research. Though I am here a lot, I haven’t heard this name before." The director’s words dashed Yan Fei’s hopes but the next sentence rekindled a glimmer of hope. "You can continue your search tomorrow! I have some business in the research building, I can ask for you on the way."
