Chapter 284: Chapter 5 Moving from Elementary School to Middle School_1

While hanging out and having meals with the three sisters, Yan Fei seemed a little dazed.

It wasn’t until Xu Xiaoyan gave him a pinch that he came to his senses, "My sisters have left, what were you thinking about?"

It was then that Yan Fei lifted his head, raising his hand towards the departing bus, probably to wave goodbye. Realising that was perhaps inappropriate, he quickly put it down. Xu Xiaoyan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, "What’s wrong with you? You seem distracted!"

Yan Fei turned to gaze at the girl’s worried face and let out a secretive chuckle, "I’m fine. I think something wonderful just happened."

The girl laughed along and gave him a sidelong glance, "Keeping it all to yourself, huh? Hmph!"

Yan Fei, shameless as ever, replied, "If you’ll interrogate me like you did the other day, I’ll tell you!"

Watching him shamelessly move closer to her, the girl hopped away and blushed, "Stop it! You shameless man! Keep your distance..."

What Yan Fei referred to as "the other day" was of course the day the girl acted like a temptress.

In the past, he was clueless and she took full advantage of it. Now that he was more aware, he often regretted missed opportunities. Now every day, she had to be on guard against him like she was warding off a wolf.

In short, the girl was down on her luck, having to defend against Yan Fei’s compulsive teasing and to endure his drooling over her everyday.

The best part about the Provincial City was that couples could openly walk hand in hand on the streets. This area was popular among young people, some bolder couples even daring to cuddle up in dimly lit areas.

When they arrived at the dormitory building, Xu Xiaoyan was worried, "When you go out to find a place to stay, don’t go too far. There are plenty of accommodations around this school, find a place to stay for the night. There are many students here, so they’d dare not overcharge."

Yan Fei, however, pretended not to hear and made a goofy face at her. She glared at him, "What are you doing? Didn’t you hear what I said?"

She followed his gaze to see a couple, hand in hand under the shade of a tree by the dormitory building, saying their goodbyes. The girl had planted a peck on the boy’s face before running into the dormitory building.

The sight made her blush and she scolded him, "You’re only interested in such things! I’m leaving you to your own devices. I’m heading upstairs!"

With that, she scampered off. Yan Fei didn’t try to stop her. He watched her disappear into the building, then grinned and walked towards the university entrance.

As he walked, he made a flipping gesture with one hand. Each time he flipped his hand, a coin appeared in his palm as if by magic.

There were many who amused themselves on campus, so he didn’t attract much attention. Nobody realized that the coins appearing in his palm were different each time.

Occasionally, a piece of broken wood, or a small metal fragment, and even a tiny piece of meat would appear. Seeing that no one was watching, he happily popped the piece of meat into his mouth and swallowed it.

I guess I’ve upgraded my abilities! At least I’ve advanced from elementary school to junior high, he thought and laughed while he ate.

It was a pity that he was in a bustling school. Otherwise, he would have loved to see how it would feel to suddenly conjure a heavy, long-handled hammer in his hand. Fighting would be so much easier in the future. He had chopped so much firewood on the island that it had piled up like a small hill. He could probably fight until he dropped dead and still wouldn’t run out of weapons.

Sadly, he could only conjure isolated objects. For instance, he couldn’t "think" a branch off a tree, let alone an entire rooted tree.

With so many people around at the moment, he couldn’t test the limit of the size of objects he could "think" into existence.

However, he had found out that he couldn’t "think" a living creature into existence, not even a bug.

But he believed he would be able to do so sooner or later!

As to why and when he could "think" things into existence, he had no idea. He hadn’t considered it before, let alone tried it. Consequently, he didn’t know whether this ability was innate or acquired later.

However, he knew that in the past when he "daydreamed" about his island, he could only do so from a fixed perspective, while now, he could observe the island from any angle, even inside caves.

This meant that his "abilities" were growing. Even though for now, he had no clue as to what triggered this growth.

Lost in thought, he exited the school, without any intention of looking for a place to stay. Instead, he headed straight for the Agricultural School.

He had heard earlier that the library there closed late at night. So, he still had time to read.

Upon entering the Agricultural School, he asked for the location of the library. Before stepping inside, a pen and a roll of white paper appeared silently in his hand.

When he entered, his battle-hardened face didn’t betray a hint of guilt under the librarian’s gaze. He even carried off a more student-like air than some of the first-time visitors. These new students couldn’t hide their astonishment, while he quickly found a shelf and grabbed a random book to read.

Then he realized that his act was redundant. Nobody was paying attention to him. He was just being paranoid. Xu Xiaoyan’s eldest sister had told him that outsiders were not forbidden to use the library here.

Upon realizing that nobody was watching him, he began to search for books that he needed.

He certainly wasn’t looking for books for the second year of junior high school. Although his school also started today, he supposed that his classmates were probably in an evening study session while he was wandering around in another college hundreds of kilometers away!

There were a significant number of books. Even those merely about cattle would be enough for his research. From barn management, feed formula, to disease prevention, every related topic he could and couldn’t think of was covered.

There were also numerous livestock magazines nearby. A casual flip revealed a wealth of knowledge about cattle breeding.

Yan Fei was an action taker. After flipping through a few books, he chose one, spread it on the study table provided by the library, and began to copy it.

Though his memory was exceptional, retaining these bits of knowledge in a notebook was still slightly better.

Moreover, notes in a notebook could also serve as learning material for others. Not to mention, the many years’ worth of magazines stored in the library, Yan Fei didn’t think he could find them anywhere else. Even if he did manage to find one or two, they couldn’t possibly be as comprehensive!

While copying the book, he also practiced his handwriting. He took it so seriously and was so meticulous that he outshone actual students. However, he didn’t recognize some characters and had to approximate them first, noting them down to study later.
