Chapter 255: Chapter 115 The Teachers who Invite ’Hatred’_1
After a whole day of searching, not a single thief was found.
However, Yan Fei was not in a rush; there were still plenty of days until school restarted. No hurry.
He just thought that the calculations of those people at the end were somewhat meaningless. As for hitting people, those kinds of people would inevitably get hit sooner or later; it was just a matter of time.
By this time, he didn’t even feel like taking the bus back. Once he took off into the sky, all those lingering moods were gone.
Looking down at the wilderness, the farmers in the fields looked like tiny dots, the trees by the road turned into little grass, and the cars on the highway looked like little insects.
Even though he had become accustomed to flying, the feeling of soaring through the clouds with the wind still filled him with a different kind of joy.
Yep, it was quite wonderful.
Because he flew slowly on the way, by the time he reached the cattle farm, it was already time for dinner.
After he landed and took out the eggs, he jumped directly into the cattle farm. Four dogs ran over, jumping and frisking around him. A few moments later, a girl came out holding a bowl.
Upon seeing Yan Fei return, Xu Xiaoyan greeted him with a beaming smile. Suddenly, her face turned stern, demanding: "Where have you been all day? I asked around and found out that you were not at home the whole day!"
Yan Fei was confused: "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be coming home these two days?"
"Hmm, don’t change the subject," the girl feigned seriousness, then couldn’t help but change the subject laughing. "Guess how my communication with the teachers at school went?"
"You’ve sold all the paper?" Yan Fei’s question disrupted the girl’s enthusiasm.
"It’s not that quick! Everything is in the initial communication stage, we need to see if they want it. The school is not easily persuaded by just one teacher." The girl entered the house with him, before reacting. "Did you eat yet? I didn’t know you were coming back now, so I didn’t make food for you."
"I already ate. Here, I brought you some tea eggs. They’re pretty good," Yan Fei handed over the bag full of eggs. "They’re a bit cold, want me to warm them up for you?"
"Where did you go? You brought back so many eggs. No need to heat them up, I almost finished eating, just hand me one to try." The girl extended her hand, waiting for him to pass her an egg. "You haven’t guessed how my communication with the teachers went? Guess quickly! Guess how many schools I contacted!"
"You contacted all four?" Yan Fei deliberately played along.
It would not be possible. Schools are on holiday now! Apart from high schools that have a third year that starts early, all other schools are still on break!
"You’re looking to be hit, aren’t you?" Xu Xiaoyan took the egg from him and smacked him on the forehead. "Hey, why didn’t you dodge?"
Yan Fei did not dodge or hide and was left with a mark on his face from the flour-covered egg. The girl quickly put the egg down and took a small handkerchief from her pocket to wipe his face.
After she finished wiping, she started to look him over.
"What are you doing?" Feeling her odd gaze, Yan Fei quickly touched his own face.
"Nothing!" The girl started laughing at his naive expression. "You know, I never noticed! You’re always wearing ragged clothes, but I’ve never seen you wash your face in the morning. I never realized your face is quite clean!"
"Of course!" Yan Fei puffed up with pride. "Not only is my face clean, my whole body is clean. Don’t believe me, take a look?"
"Are you mad? Who wants to look at your entire body, whether you’re clean or not has nothing to do with me..." The girl turned a mixture of embarrassed and annoyed, her face red as anything, and she started to avoid his gaze.
"I’m telling the truth! If you don’t believe me, forget it, don’t look then!" Yan Fei hadn’t quite caught on to the girl’s swift change of attitude.
What he said was true. With his transformation, his whole body would be clean - not only would wounds heal but any dust would disappear. Of course, he was spotless.
Seeing that the girl was ignoring him, he quickly changed the subject: "Didn’t you manage to get in touch with the schools? How many? You didn’t really contact all four, did you?"
Upon hearing this, the girl perked up: "Of course."
Then, with a triumphant smile, she started to recount her journey of selling paper.
In the morning, she had gone home and discussed with her two sisters before going to the primary school.
The primary school was on holiday, but many teachers still lived on campus with their families, so she was able to catch quite a few teachers.
The first one she found was her primary school’s homeroom teacher from the fifth grade, a chubby woman in her forties with the surname Chang. The teacher was thrilled to see her former star student.
What’s more, the teachers often had to pass her house multiple times when they went out shopping. They knew her circumstances quite well.
After chatting for a while, the girl hesitantly told the teacher why she had come. Teacher Chang replied: "I’m afraid this will be difficult to arrange! I’m no longer teaching in the primary school soon, so I can’t be responsible for this!"
Xu Xiaoyan was surprised. This primary school teacher had been teaching here for over twenty years. How could she just leave like that?
"But..." The teacher said with a laugh. "I’ve been transferred to No. 2 Junior High School now. I’m in charge of that school. These days I’m busy preparing for the beginning of the term and have meetings every day. I’ll take advantage of these meetings in the next couple of days to bring up this matter."
Xu Xiaoyan was stunned, she went to the primary school and ended up contacting someone at No. 2 Junior High School?
Seeing her confused state, Teacher Chang waved her hand in front of the girl’s eyes, "You’re stunned? You’ve grown up so quickly and yet still act so naively. I wonder how you’ll manage when you go away to school. It’s scary to think about."
Only then did the girl react. She thanked the teacher, had a little bit of small talk, and then left.
Teacher Chang subtly questioned her about the source and price of the paper. The girl honestly told her that the paper was picked up by Yan Fei for free, hence there was no cost. Regarding the selling price, she really had no idea.
"That dumb kid! I always thought he was dumb, but turns out he’s quite lucky. Has he really turned stupid now? Sometimes I see him acting crafty. Whenever someone speaks ill of him, he plays the fool. I figured him out a long time ago!" Teachers at that time were always annoying in the eyes of the students.
No matter if the student was good or bad, they were always subject to home visits.
Especially in primary school, where there were fewer students and everyone was local to the town. Our small town wasn’t that big. Any little incident in school, and the teachers would go directly to the student’s home. They could describe in detail every slight action in class - how many times a student dozed off and bumped their head.
And it wasn’t just the average teachers; at least each homeroom teacher knew every student’s household situation, including family backgrounds. There was no way for students to make up an excuse.
Teachers oversaw students even more strictly than parents did. There’s no need to say how "hated" they were!
