Chapter 249: Chapter 109: Deserving to Die Even If Innocent_1

Despite the girl’s fierce demeanor toward the other passengers just now, threatening them to eat or not board the bus, chivvying passengers like ducks to eat, her appearance was actually not that formidable.

Not only was she not fierce, she was actually quite attractive.

She wore a pair of high-heeled black sandals, and a pair of skinny blue and white jeans which made her legs look especially long; she wore a black-and-white checkered shirt, which was casually tied into a bow at her waist.

Two shiny braids hung from her shoulders down to her prominent chest, and her fair melon-seed face had large, watery eyes that were quite lively.

However, at this moment her body was slightly trembling, her eyes were filled with fear, and faintly visible tears were welling up.

Were this sight to fall into the eyes of men who are fond of genteel women, many would marvel to her being a weeping beauty, and then further exclaim pity over such a fine lady engaged in banditry.

Unfortunately, Yan Fei was never one to appreciate this kind of sentiment. He stepped forward and slapped her hard. The young woman who had been shouting just now fell flat onto the dirty ground like a burst sack, then she was quickly stepped on by a large leg.

Unsurprisingly, her well-shaped leg was disfigured.

When the girl was slapped down, she quickly passed out. Now she is awakened by the pain and the image of weeping beauty turned into an utterly disgraceful look. Without even bothering to wipe away the dripping tears and snot mingling with dirt on her face, she started shrieking, holding her leg tightly in pain.

Seeing her wake up so quickly, it was clear that Yan Fei was not completely unkind. In his slap, he had held back - at least in the future, while she would not be able to eat peanuts, she should still be able to consume steamed meatballs.

Yan Fei then turned to the remaining women and old men who were still standing and said: "Now it’s your turn to slap yourselves!"

These people had already lost most of their reactions and couldn’t even think of offering help when they saw the girl fall. Upon hearing his command, they raised their arms without hesitation and hit themselves hard on the face.

Yan Fei ignored the screams and slapping sounds behind and looked at the accompanying crew member who had run off to call for help earlier. Seeing that he had gathered all the drivers and accompanying crew, Yan Fei turned and walked towards him.

"The same goes for you all: hit yourselves in the face until I say stop," Yan Fei casually ordered the group of over a dozen men.

They looked at each other, each face full of difficulty. Eventually, one of them painfully raised his arm and slapped himself. Once one started, others followed suit.

"We ain’t affiliated with them...we rode the bus with you..." someone managed to get out just as Yan Fei was about to leave.

Yan Fei glared back, and they instinctively took a few steps back.

Yan Fei thought for a moment, "I almost forgot, I paid the fare to the Provincial City. Since I’m not going all the way, shouldn’t you refund me for part of the journey?"

"What?" Those who heard him were somewhat startled. Even those who were slapping themselves paused, seeming to not understand what he meant.

"I’m saying, isn’t your fare to the Provincial City eighteen dollars? I’m not even in the jurisdiction of the Provincial City yet! Since I won’t be taking the bus for the rest of the trip, you should refund me part of the money!" Yan Fei patiently explained.

The crowd fell silent in surprise, as if they hadn’t expected that under these circumstances, he would still care about a few dollars. However, they quickly understood, realizing all he wanted was some money. At this point, they would give him anything as long as he wasn’t asking for their lives.

The one who understood quickly pulled out a wad of money from his pocket, not even bothering to count, a set of keys was mixed in but he didn’t notice, and with a forced smile, he handed it over.

"I only paid eighteen dollars for my fare, why are you giving me so much? I’m not robbing you. Let me calculate...tell me, how much would it cost to go to the Provincial City from here?" Yan Fei didn’t take the money and explained again.

"Ten dollars. From here to the Provincial City is ten dollars." This person finally reacted and answered immediately.

"Oh, then since I won’t be riding the rest of the way, you owe me ten dollars back." Yan Fei said as he took ten dollars from the man’s hand and put it in his own pocket.

Of course, the fare of a long-distance bus is not calculated in this way; it’s a set price for the entire journey, not a partial fare. Otherwise, if it were 18 dollars for a 600-li trip, how much could they make for one round trip? They make their money mainly from passengers getting on and off the bus midway.

But who would argue with him about this now?

Yan Fei pocketed the money and turned to leave. Suddenly he turned back: "Why did you all stop? Keep slapping yourselves!"

People had initially thought that once he’d taken the money he would leave. Now they had to resume hitting themselves with long faces. What a miserable sight.

Seeing them pick up where they left off, Yan Fei finally turned towards the dining hall. As he walked he muttered: "No wonder they say car dealers, boat dealers, foot dealers, shops and dental dealers should be killed with or without cause. If it weren’t for you guys bringing us here, there wouldn’t be such trouble. And to think you said you guys weren’t in collusion. Do you think I don’t know about you guys coming here to eat for free? And the food is even better than what we paid for..."

As he spoke, he entered the dining hall. After searching for a while, he found a pot of hot chicken legs and a pot of Braised Meat. He scooped all the Braised Meat to mix with the chicken legs and sat down to eat in the shade of the shed.

This Braised Meat and chicken legs were prepared for the drivers, along with beer. He didn’t care for the beer, so he didn’t take it.

As he ate, he would take a glance at the pots of food, if any dish caught his eye he would simply add a few bites to his portion.

When this fellow ate, people around him grimaced in pain just watching him. When eating things like chicken legs, he didn’t even bother to spit out the bones but just crunched them and swallowed them down. A chicken leg disappeared in a few bites, he was extremely fast at eating!

After a while, he reacted and asked the women and a couple of old men, who were still slapping their faces in front of the dining hall, "Didn’t you say more people were coming? Why aren’t they here yet?"

An old man timidly replied: "At this time, they would all be out weeding the fields. It might take a while to gather them..."

Yan Fei nodded, understanding. It’s too hot to weed at noon, it would kill you and the roots would stay in the ground and grow back. People in the countryside would know since they had been doing it for hundreds of years. Isn’t there a line of poem that says, ’Weeding at noon’?

Just as he was about to continue eating, his gaze swept across the yard and noticed that everyone was staring at him eating. And to this moment, no one has spoken a word. Except for the injured in the center of the yard, shifting their bodies to find some shade.

Seeing these people struggling to move, Yan Fei addressed the few women and old men, "You don’t have to slap yourself anymore. Go and help. Move them all to the shade. We don’t want anyone dropping dead."
