Carrying a Jurassic on me

Chapter 1699: Chapter 805: The Last Vote_2

When Anderson said those words, it was quite difficult for him. Helping a businessman like Yan Fei—someone he was supposed to ’oppose’—promote a product, and doing so during the first half of the year, when relations between the two sides of Earth were so tense, came at a significant cost for him.

First, he had to change his stance. In other words, he must abandon his previous ’masters’ and choose between the donkey and the elephant—picking a new ’master’ with a friendly attitude toward the opposing nation. Regardless of whether the new master’s friendliness was genuine or profit-driven, once he made the choice, he could proceed logically from there.

But from that moment on, he would undoubtedly be viewed as a traitor by his former masters and allies.

Anywhere in the world, a traitor who betrays their allies must work hard and pay a significant price to regain their previous status and benefits.

However, at this moment, Anderson had no other choice—now that someone had caught hold of his weak spot and given that fabrication was out of the question, he didn’t even have a damn cow on hand. Trying to produce a certification out of thin air was a near-impossible task.

He had to first figure out a way to get Yan Fei to ship over a batch of cows. Only then could he use the beef to determine its grade—and the price he needed to pay in the process would definitely go beyond just money and reputation.

But now, he’d finally figured things out. If his family were gone, everything he did would be meaningless. Since that was the case, he had no choice but to abandon everything else to protect what he deemed important.

Yan Fei mulled it over for a moment. "Alright, but the price has to be calculated based on...the grade the beef should achieve."

When it came to doing business, Boss Yan was always fair and reasonable.

To Anderson, this confirmed what he’d already suspected: the mysterious and unfathomable ’demon’ in front of him must indeed be part of that Dragon Group, or else he wouldn’t be so meticulous.

Meticulous people are welcomed anywhere, especially when they’re in a position of power and still manage to be principled—that earns respect.

In any case, as Anderson watched Yan Fei leave, he suddenly felt a surge of energy. Grabbing the phone, he pondered for a moment before dialing a number...

At that moment, his whole body felt light, as if he’d shed a burden weighing a thousand catties. Before doing anything, you always overthink it, but once you’ve taken the first step, it’s like being dead set on seeing it through to the end—nothing else seems to matter anymore.

...

A black sparrow shot through the night sky like a streak of lightning.

This time, Yan Fei chose a relatively distant region—a place where one of his laborers had spent a long time and had a good understanding of.

There was a major bank here, the kind with the word "Reserve" in its name. There were only twelve such banks in all of America, and they stored a lot of valuable things inside.

Additionally, the region’s two major economic pillars were agriculture and manufacturing. This was also one of the reasons Yan Fei targeted this place—his main business was cattle farming, so he figured he might as well grab some useful supplies during the trip.

Coming here was absolutely worthwhile. Rumor had it, there were an average of three cows per resident in this region. Food processing, especially meat processing, was also quite famous, and the manufacturing industry could produce everything from airplanes to zinc castings.

In short, Boss Yan arriving here was like a rat falling into a rice jar—everything in sight was up for grabs.

That night, Boss Yan had no choice but to push himself extra hard. The area was large, and there were too many things he wanted, so he had to run all over the place. But hey, as they say, life is motion. Following the excellent traditions passed down from his hometown, Yan Fei thought about how the elderly kept working until the very end of their days. As a young man, what reason did he have not to give his all?

So being tired didn’t matter, and the outcome wasn’t important—what mattered was the effort he’d put in.

Only after a muffled explosion shook an entire city did Boss Yan finally call it a night.

It was already early morning, and getting back to the hotel was a race against the clock. But what could you do? Work really could be addictive. People, once busy, often lost track of time.

That’s why phrases like "going without food and sleep" exist in the first place!

Even so, after flying at top speed all the way back to the hotel, it was already quite late.

After tidying up briefly in the room and washing his face—his hair still damp—Yan Fei "eagerly" opened the hotel room door and walked over to the next room.

When Yang Xing opened the door and saw Yan Fei’s appearance, he let out a warm laugh. "I was just about to knock on your door. Figured you’d be excited about heading home and might’ve gone to bed late, so I didn’t disturb you. How’re you feeling? Pretty happy about going home, huh?"

"Mhm, mhm," Yan Fei nodded. "First time so far from home..."

While chatting, the two quickly grabbed a bite to eat before hopping into Professor Hans’s car to head to Professor Carter’s lab.

On the way, Professor Hans gave Yan Fei a good pep talk, reminding him to study hard after he went back and expressing his hope to see more of Yan Fei’s name published in well-known academic journals soon.

When they arrived at the lab, Professor Carter no longer planned to continue the research work with them. He simply explained the predicament of the Torres couple to Yan Fei. It was just the usual talk about how big the losses were from this incident, not only financially but also in terms of reputation, and hoped Yan Fei could understand their difficulties...

Yan Fei understood the couple "perfectly," and he straightforwardly handed over the promised two thousand dollars. "Consider yesterday’s deposit as our compensation. After all, it wasn’t easy for you to make such a decision..."

Seeing how considerate he was, the others felt delighted, except for Yang Xing, who felt a bit distressed by Yan Fei’s big spending and added an extra five thousand dollars of his own with a casual wave of his hand.

After that, it was time to book the return flight tickets. Of course, the fossils needed some documentation to be issued, or else they couldn’t be legally transported through the airport.

With Professor Hans’s help, everything went smoothly. The only less-than-perfect part was that the flight was scheduled for midnight. But there was no fixing that; international flight schedules weren’t something they could change just because they wanted to return sooner.

After dinner, Yang Xing was thrilled and kept chatting with Yan Fei nonstop. At one moment, he repeated the same words of gratitude at least twenty times. At another, he went on about how meaningful this all was.

Finally, when he had nothing more to say, he checked the clock and, seeing that there were still a few hours left, sheepishly and reluctantly told Yan Fei, "You’ve still got some time, so get some rest. You didn’t sleep well last night, and a long flight’s coming up—this’ll be bad for your health."

He completely forgot that Yan Fei’s physical fitness, even by what he already knew, was far beyond his comprehension.

After seeing Yang Xing off, Yan Fei packed his things—not that there was much to pack. His luggage was mostly for show, and almost none of it had actually been used—after all, he spent every night toiling hard, so who needed anything from their suitcase?

Afterward, regardless of the time, he made a call to his wife, chatted for a while, and reported that he’d be home soon. Then he lay on the bed in a daze. While lying there, he suddenly remembered—there was one place he hadn’t "taken revenge" on yet.

That’s right, the mastermind behind it all.

At this thought, and with nothing better to do in the remaining hours, he sprang out of bed, said nothing, and flew straight to the airport.

Hovering above the airport, Yan Fei sneered coldly: "Dare to offend me and still think you’ll carry on business as usual? Dream on..."

...

Two hours later, Yan Fei’s hotel room doorbell rang.

Sitting on the sofa, Yan Fei immediately stood up, picked up his luggage, and opened the door. "Teacher Yang, ready to go! Here, let me carry your luggage...wait, where’s your luggage?"

Yang Xing’s expression turned serious. "There’s some bad news. You know how during our time here in America, there’ve been these mysterious major cases of serial thefts and robberies?"

Yan Fei suddenly had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, Yang Xing continued, "The airport we’re supposed to go to just experienced one of those incidents. Several airplanes parked there vanished into thin air. The airport is now under lockdown, and we can’t leave just yet. We’ll have to wait for them to arrange flights from another airport..."

What the f*ck...

Yan Fei froze on the spot.
