Chapter 1691: Chapter 802: New Ideas Provided by Anderson
Anderson didn’t sleep a wink that night. He spent the whole evening browsing the internet and brainstorming ideas. By the crack of dawn, as the first rays of sunlight appeared, he couldn’t wait any longer and dialed Yan Fei’s number.
Unfortunately, Yan Fei’s phone was busy—and it stayed busy for quite a while.
Morning in America meant nighttime in the country on the opposite side of Earth, and naturally, Boss Yan was using his phone to call his wife.
These past few days, he’d been a bit too carefree, almost forgetting that his wife could be a little thrifty when it came to spending on international calls. Luckily, he had a sudden realization—if he didn’t call home soon, he might face her cold and angry stare upon his return. Heck, some of the "progress" they’d painstakingly achieved in certain areas might even regress. With such alarming consequences in mind, he quickly calculated the time difference and dialed his wife’s number.
Xu Xiaoyan was concerned that Yan Fei, busy dealing with tasks abroad, might be interrupted by a phone call and lose focus on important matters. What she didn’t know was that Xiao Fei had already fully embraced his carefree spirit—and she certainly didn’t know he was internally grumbling about her being thrifty. On the phone, she continually advised him to exercise caution, be mindful abroad, and not stir up trouble.
Determined to ease his journey financially, she emphasized over and over again that when it’s necessary to spend money, he should spend freely, reminding him that things are different abroad compared to home.
Yan Fei assured her that he was always following her advice—being cautious and prudent as she suggested. Of course, there was the small incident of nearly sparking a world war, but then there was also that time he picked up some scrap and found treasures like gold, cash, and vehicles. He added that he had no issues with spending money—he’d picked up so much cash that he probably wouldn’t be able to spend it all anytime soon.
As for stirring up trouble? Definitely not. Trouble always found him first—like Anderson and the people associated with him.
Xu Xiaoyan was delighted with Yan Xiaofei’s apparent obedience and sweetly whispered, "I miss you. Wrap up your work and come home soon!"
Yan Fei’s mind instantly wandered, conjuring up a collage of past memories, along with some not-so-PG-13 images: "Alright, as soon as Teacher Yang finishes his business, I’ll head right back."
If it weren’t for the wife waiting for him at home, he might have been so carefree here that he’d completely forget about going back!
It was amazing. Doing anything he wanted, whenever he wanted—it felt a hundred thousand times better than being home—except for one thing: Xu Xiaoyan wasn’t here.
Unfortunately, her absence outweighed everything else, so he seriously began to consider finishing his tasks as quickly as possible. Once Yang Xing settled the fossil ownership dispute, they could head back together.
But the issue wasn’t so easily resolved. Even if Torres agreed to return the fossil, others wanted to keep it for a longer period to conduct further research. Though the research might yield little to no results, the fossil, having originated from the opposite side of Earth, had undeniable value for comparative studies.
Yang Xing was well aware that pressing the matter wouldn’t help. For now, he could only push the small research team to pick up their pace and wait for the right moment to discuss the issue with Torres.
That morning, for Yan Fei, was another dull one. He wanted to avoid looking at these things altogether—but sitting idle felt like a waste. Not doing something felt like frittering away time, and as someone used to scraping by, he had a hard time tolerating wastefulness!
Luckily, Anderson’s call finally came through.
Anderson had been dialing nonstop, but he’d been interrupted by a call from his contact in Las Vegas. The informant told him that Abe was still nowhere to be found and wanted to give up on the assignment, offering to refund part of Anderson’s payment. After all, professionals in this field aren’t fools—if a search yields no leads after a full day and night, chances are slim to nonexistent. Continuing would only waste time and render the payment unprofitable.
Anderson feigned a few complaints but didn’t bother arguing with the unreliable informant. Though Yan Fei hadn’t explicitly stated it, Anderson could hazard a guess—the odds that Yan Fei had captured Abe seemed close to certainty.
Afterward, Anderson received several calls from people he’d previously asked for help locating Abe, followed by rounds of consultation calls. Only then did he dial Yan Fei’s number.
On the call, Anderson avoided saying too much directly and instead said, "I’ve thought of a way to make up for my mistake, but we need to talk face-to-face. Can you come over again?"
Yan Fei wasn’t having it. This old guy had already swindled him out of money, and now he wanted him to run around some more? "Just tell me what it is. Do you think I’m just sitting around with nothing to do? Do you even know where I am? It’s not exactly a quick hop to your place, you know."
Already in a bored state, Yan Fei was thoroughly annoyed by Anderson piling on more trouble. It wouldn’t have been realistic to expect anything but agitation in his tone.
Still, Anderson insisted: "No, I can’t tell you now. We have to meet in person. I’ll deliver what you want, but only if you meet me first."
Yan Fei, though he’d temporarily relocated his family to the dinosaur world for safety, couldn’t bring himself to go as far as threatening others for personal gain.
"Alright, but you’d better guarantee this isn’t another scam," Yan Fei said after some deliberation. "I hope what you’ve prepared will satisfy me. Otherwise, I won’t be accountable for the consequences."
"I’ll be waiting for you," Anderson replied. He had nothing left to lose, overflowing with brazen confidence.
Seriously now, people these days are way too awesome. At this point, I couldn’t even tell who started the dirty business first—me or him. Our families in each other’s clutches? Well, you’d better hope the deal you offer is good enough to make me happy. Otherwise, don’t blame me if your current boldness ends up leading straight to disaster...
