Chapter 1634: Chapter 778: Experimental Material - The Crow That Steals Cell Phones
·"Whose child is missing!"
This loud shout—years later—still remains fresh in the memories of the people in the small village situated between Provincial City and Xu City.
First, it was the sheer volume. Many thought it had to have been broadcasted over loudspeakers, while others verified it wasn’t, with two little kids as witnesses. They swore the person was standing there yelling, without using a megaphone.
It was the off-season for farming, and though the sky was still light, rural folks had no pressing concerns and were either tidying up the house or still sound asleep. Being abruptly woken up by such a yell—feeling puzzled—was completely understandable.
Kids as young as five or six can articulate a few things, but these two little ones were in a state of confusion and fear. What they could say wasn’t much, and their experience was too bizarre to be believed. Just like Yan Fei imagined, no matter what the kids said, adults simply filled in the blanks with their imaginations.
For instance, the clearest details remembered by the kids were as follows: first, they were taken away in a car and driven onto a main road. Afterward, the car mysteriously reached an unknown location, they were carried off, then suddenly placed into a pitch-black shack, and after that, somehow ended up in the village... Who could possibly make sense of what actually happened?
But none of this mattered to Yan Fei anymore. After yelling out, he didn’t forget to instruct the two kids: "Cry loudly!" This request was incredibly easy for the two children to fulfill—they had been too scared to cry during the entire ordeal. Now, as they finally let loose, their cries shook the heavens and moved the ghosts, utterly unstoppable.
Crying was for the best, sparing the children from trauma that might leave psychological scars.
Yan Fei soared in the sky, all while thinking about this. As villagers poured out to locate the two wailing kids, half of his worries eased. Then he heard someone yelling about the kids being a pair of twins. The villagers picked up the children and rushed to their family home, only to find that the couple living there had been tied up...
As Yan Fei had suspected, the car that had abducted the two kids hadn’t dared to even turn on its headlights. The whole thing had just been carried out, and the children were from a neighboring village—of course, even if they weren’t, it wouldn’t matter. Yan Fei’s shout had awakened most of the village, ensuring that, regardless of whether the kids belonged to this village, the entire village could help them find their family.
In the countryside, spreading news of a big event doesn’t lag behind the speed of the internet or TV networks. It’s likely that very soon, word would travel to the surrounding area, spreading farther and farther. No exaggeration—by dawn, even folks in Provincial City would catch wind of it...
Yan Fei didn’t care to learn about the causes or details of the incident. What mattered was the kids returning home safely. Seeing that everything here seemed settled, he didn’t linger but quickly flew toward the main road to seek out Boss White.
As soon as he landed back on the road, he was struck by "deep grief." Originally, he thought he’d find a scene of a kind-hearted driver heroically aiding car crash victims. But in reality, Boss White was still agonizingly clinging to life in the car, while Old Lang was halfway out of the wreckage—his car flipped completely upside-down. Whether he was injured or trapped by something inside the vehicle, he had been struggling to climb out for ages and was still trying...
The human heart has changed!
Yan Fei sighed with emotion. People nowadays—truly worse than before! Life kept getting better, people had more money in their hands, yet why did their moral baseline keep sinking lower and lower? Witnessing a car accident with victims lying nearby—sure, there weren’t many cars on the road, but there were always a few passing by. Yet, not a single person stopped to lend a hand in rescue?
As he lamented, Yan Fei selected a perch with a good view and landed on a high branch. He basked in the early morning chill, gazing at the tragic scene of the car crash below, continuing his ruminations on national woes, societal despair, and the decay of morality...
Thinking of how deeply society had rotted, Yan Fei couldn’t help but recall the new visitors to the dinosaur world. The thought prompted him to glance that way again.
This one glance stunned him into action. He swiftly flew to the dinosaur world, grabbed one person, and leapt into the air. Landing directly on the head of a meat-eating bull-like dinosaur with its jaws wide open, he stomped down fiercely twice. Overwhelmed by the weight of two people, the dinosaur—its massive skull already struggling—let out a few tragic wails before turning tail and fleeing, abandoning its earlier prey.
Good thing he caught sight in time. Letting someone die without assistance wasn’t acceptable, even if they were child traffickers—dying like that would be way too easy for them.
"Who are you? Who the hell are you? Where is this place? What are those monsters?" Moments later, Yan Fei caught up with the quicker of the two men. As he dragged them both to Dahe Base, they were still shouting questions nonstop!
Yan Fei couldn’t be bothered to answer them. He summoned No.1 Coolie: "These two are child traffickers—similar to the crimes you and your brother committed back then. Keep an eye on them and do something that’ll satisfy me; I need to feel justice served... If you can’t, I’ll settle the score with you two instead!"
With that, he walked away, leaving No.1 Coolie startled and uneasy. The big boss seemed ready to deliver payback after all?
It made sense. When he and his brother first arrived, the dinosaur world hadn’t had a single other person. Now, it had so many people from all walks of life—different skin colors, too—and as far as talents were concerned, they could only rank at the bottom. Apart from the advantage of their earlier arrival, nothing else really stood out.
Gathering a few people to restrain the two struggling and shouting guys, No.1 Coolie immediately furrowed his brows and started brainstorming: just how could he make the big boss feel satisfied?
