Chapter 156: Chapter 32: Professional (Subscription Tickets Requested) _1
"Why? I thought you wanted to go to that university in Yanjing?" Yan Fei couldn’t understand why Xu Xiaoyan would want to apply to a local university.
"You’re such an idiot. Studying in our provincial city is closer to home, right? This way, I can come home even during short breaks. If our town had a better college, I would have applied there. That would have been even closer." Xu Xiaoyan expressed with some regret.
"Oh, I thought our province’s universities weren’t any good. But it’s good that you two sisters are studying in our provincial city. You’ll still be together!"
Looking at Yan Fei’s clueless face, Xu Xiaoyan felt upset: "Even if I tried to explain it to you, you wouldn’t get it. Just remember this, if you ever treat me badly in the future, I will be utterly ruined."
"Utterly ruined? How could I ever treat you badly? You’re my wife!" Yan Fei felt uncomfortable with the girl’s sudden attitude towards him, almost stumbling over his words.
"Hmm, just remember what you’ve said." Xu Xiaoyan stared at him. "Yan Xiaofei, remember it well. You need to treat me well. In the future, if you..."
Xu Xiaoyan spoke for a while, but never clearly stated her intended point, suddenly blushing and grabbing his hand, turning her face away, and staying silent.
The car was empty, and the driver hadn’t arrived. The two of them sat in the grimy, beat-up car, hand in hand, not saying a word.
After a while, the girl turned her red face back towards him, and softly said, "Actually, I’ve already decided, whether or not you... If you treat me well, it doesn’t matter if I go to university or not. Before, I wanted to study because I wanted to. Later, I wanted to go to college because I thought you wanted a college graduate...uh, so I went. It doesn’t matter what school I go to, I just don’t want to be too far away from you."
"Didn’t you say before that you wanted to attend that university in Yanjing? If you want to go, just go. No matter how far away it is, I’ll be okay. If I want to visit you, I’ll definitely manage," Yan Fei said awkwardly, trying to pull his sweaty hand from her grip, but ultimately he didn’t move.
"You’re such an idiot. I was just saying that to see if you cared about me. Humph!" She squeezed his hand powerfully... oh, it was more of a pinch. Suddenly, her face cracked into a smile. "Do you know what major I want to pursue?"
"How would I know? Anything would work, just not that veterinary thing you mentioned last time."
"You’re such an idiot! I was just joking with you! I’ve already made up my mind. I’m going to apply to Provincial University. They have a specialized law program there. I’ve decided to study that."
"What’s the point of studying that?"
"You’re always getting bullied because you’re so naive, and I can’t help when you are. Do you remember the time when so many people came to the farm to cause trouble? That’s when I thought to myself - if I go to university, I should find a powerful major, something that could help you. You just wait and see!" The girl’s confidence returned. It seemed as if she could already envision her commanding presence in a courtroom.
"Oh!" Yan Fei was speechless.
He didn’t take her seriously, thinking she was naive. How could she pick such a major when it seemed useless? If eloquence was the key, what else do we need the police for?
Furthermore, he figured that anyone who tried to mess with him could be easily given a beating. If he met someone really vicious, he would just send them to Yama’s Palace.
Was he supposed to believe that after studying law she could go and complain to the judge?
He guessed the Zhang brothers, who once ruled Dongguan County, would be more than happy to support Xu Xiaoyan. After all, given a choice between legal punishment or dying in silence, they’d definitely prefer a fair trial under the future Lawyer Xu.
But that wasn’t all he thought.
Regardless of Yan Fei’s attitude, she continued to speak: "We’ve been lucky so far, and you’ve always been able to defeat anyone. But what if you meet someone you can’t beat? What would happen if you’re at a disadvantage? That’s why I have to study law. If someone ever bullies us and we can’t outfight them, we won’t fight back. I’ll just give them a lesson about what the law really is. Hehe..."
Yan Fei liked these words. Although he doubted he would ever meet someone he couldn’t beat, he thought her words made a lot of sense.
Of course, we should fight back if we can, and only resort to the law when we can’t!
Having a wife who’s a college graduate is really great! No wonder Pang Fa is so keen on finding a college graduate to be his wife!
Yan Fei was feeling reflective.
These two ignorantly shamed themselves, not considering the car was almost full of people. They started chattering about what they found to be amusing anecdotes.
This girl spent her days at school, so there wasn’t much "funny stuff" she hadn’t said which Yan Fei hadn’t heard hundreds of times before. Despite his own emotional obtuseness, Yan Fei was sensitive to the girl’s feelings. Every time she spoke, he would sit quietly in the swaying car, listening to her whispering voice.
The ride, which usually seemed unbearably slow, didn’t feel so long now. They arrived at Sancha River Town before they knew it.
She’d been talking the whole ride until they reached a familiar place, at which point she suddenly grew shy. She adamantly refused to have a meal at Yan Fei’s cattle farm and insisted that Yan drop her off home.
After delivering her home, Yan Fei felt a little dazed.
After some thought, he decided to leave his motorcycle at the cattle farm, made up an excuse to leave, and sneaked off to the perimeter wall. Seeing no one around, he wriggled himself into the drainage channel under the wall.
Next, he began to lay flat and transformed into a Terrestrisuchus.
Once he was ready, he used his telepathy to observe Toad Island, seeking his target.
Toad Island hadn’t changed much in the few days that he hadn’t been around. The casual Iguanodon and Parasaurolophus were still leisurely munching on leaves while the stealthy Rapators, always hungry, were hiding and looking for the next prey.
A group of lucky Rapators were cheering in a clearing in the forest. Beside them was a partially-eaten Parasaurolophus.
This Parasaurolophus had injured its leg and had the misfortune to be targeted by the Rapators, becoming their food.
There was much of the Parasaurolophus still left, but the Rapators were already full and engaged in chasing and playing with each other.
Bang, arrived a giant Terrestrisuchus into the scene. With a few sways of its tail, it quickly scared off the group of Rapators.
Then, the Terrestrisuchus dragged the half-eaten Parasaurolophus towards the lakeside.
Once at the lake, it pushed the big carcass into the water, which immediately attracted many greedy giant salamanders.
These giant salamanders could either overeat and die or go without food for half a year. Now that they had smelled blood, they couldn’t care about anything else.
Yan Fei didn’t have time to watch their struggle for food; he quickly chose a medium-sized salamander, secured it with a quick grab, and brought it to Vegetable Garden Island.
After cleaning it up in a jiffy, he stewed some of it in the island’s large pot. The leftovers were taken back to the cattle farm, where he cooked up another pot in his kitchen.
He also prepared a few vegetables, cold dishes actually, which was enough.
Next, he mounted his motorcycle and headed straight for Ma Yongming’s house.
Ma Yongming wasn’t home, but good thing his pregnant wife was there. Yan Fei asked her about Ma’s whereabouts and immediately dashed off on his motorcycle to find him.
Seeing that Ma Yongming wasn’t too busy, he urged him, saying: "Uncle Ming, I have an urgent matter to discuss with you. Are you free for lunch? If you are, why don’t you come over to my place for a meal?"
Seeing Yan Fei’s urgency, Ma Yongming thought for a moment and then said, "Okay, I just need to give them some instructions, and I’ll be right over."
With that, Yan Fei happily waited for Ma to finish up his work.
