"Someone came to buy liquor, but had no money and couldn’t work for it, so he used this to barter." Yan Fei explained.

"Oh, isn’t this made of silver? And there’s a golden one, could it be made of gold?" Xu Xiaoyan picked up one of the golden coins, lightly chewing on it, then said with surprise and a bit of disappointment, "It’s so hard that it didn’t even leave a bite mark on it? Guess it’s not gold after all."

"Duh, could you even bite it with your strength?" Yan Fei retorted disdainfully.

Xu Xiaoyan widened her pretty eyes and intently stared at the river, as if she could watch flowers bloom there.

Actually, she didn’t see anything.

At this place where three rivers meet, the blending of the waters muddied the clarity. Plus, Yan Fei had intentionally chosen this deep spot in the river, ensuring that no one could see what he was doing underwater.

Xu Xiaoyan felt gradually anxious as she watched the calm surface of the river.

When Yan Fei said he could stay underwater for a long time, she assumed it was longer than the average person, but the prolonged silence began to worry her.

They had dared to fish here in the first place because this area was deserted. With only her left on the riverbank, the emptiness of the river and lack of people around, apart from the four dogs, made her feel as though time was passing excruciatingly slow.
