Chapter 52: People these days really like to say one thing and mean another

Because of the close proximity to the nearby shelf, Soren quickly stepped back while raising her hand to grab a bow.

Soren retreated, while Carlotta pursued, her Elven Butterfly Dance unleashed, like colorful butterflies fluttering towards her.

Since the distance hadn’t been broadened much, Soren could only swing her bow to strike, attempting to force Carlotta back.

In response, Carlotta lightly tapped with her Rose Cross, easily moving the blade to cling to the bow and shifting it aside.

Fourth Movement, Elven Dance!

While controlling the bow with the Elven Dance and moving it aside, Carlotta executed a spinning slash, the sharp blade of Rose Cross instantly cutting across Soren’s waist, leaving a deep wound that made Soren scream once more.

One spin, one slash; another spin, another slash!

This time, Carlotta added a slight jump to her spin, changing the height of Rose Cross’s slash, aiming it towards Soren’s neck.

Soren saw the strike, the chilling edge of Rose Cross and the crimson bloodstains on it.

She wanted to dodge, but couldn’t!

The Elven Dance controlling the bow and moving it aside also caused her to stumble, and she hadn’t yet regained her balance.

All these steps seemed numerous, but in reality, they were completed in an extremely short time, so Soren couldn’t do much more.

She could only instinctively widen her pupils, watching helplessly as the sharp Rose Cross approached and then swept past her.

The next moment, Soren felt her entire body become light.

With a look of shock and confusion, she looked down and saw a headless corpse swaying, then fell to the ground with a thud, blood pooling around it.

It was her body!

This was the last thought in Soren’s mind before her vision went dark, and she completely lost consciousness.

Carlotta watched Soren’s head roll on the ground a few times, taking a deep breath, even though the air was filled with the scent of blood.

She had done it!

She had succeeded!

Carlotta still couldn’t relax her tense body, the veins on her hand gripping Rose Cross almost popping out, her chest heaving.

The person who had caused her countless troubles, openly and secretly, had finally been slain by her own hands!

But it wasn’t time to relax yet.

While taking care of Soren was good, she also had to ensure her own safety, not to be buried with Soren.

The first thing to do was to leave this place safely.

Carlotta moved quickly to the shooting range’s door, pressing her ear against it to listen for sounds outside, waiting for several minutes until she confirmed the corridor was empty.

Then she swung Rose Cross, cutting open the lower part of the door.

She couldn’t open the door.

If she did, the two guards in the coffee shop across the street would notice, and she would be in grave danger.

The two guards serving Soren were of such high rank and strength that she couldn’t possibly handle them.

Carlotta acted quickly, hollowing out the lower part of the door. She didn’t know when someone might pass by on the third floor, so she had to be fast.

This also made her heart race, feeling as if it was about to leap out of her chest.

After quickly making a hole, Carlotta crawled out.

The corridor’s wall blocked the view of the lower part, with shadows and sunlight each occupying half of the corridor.

After crawling out, Carlotta didn’t dare to stand up, using the wall’s cover to quickly move through the corridor, familiar with the path, she quickly found the study from last night.

The study was quiet, with no one inside.

Only after arriving here did Carlotta let out a long breath, her forehead already covered in fine sweat. After all, what she had done was extremely serious, and if seen, it would be extremely dangerous.

After licking her dry lips, Carlotta quickly opened the secret passage, passing through it to reach a residence not far from the club.

Upon arriving at this residence, she didn’t dare to come out casually but observed the outside from the shadows, making sure no one’s attention was on this side before quickly leaving.

Before leaving, she took out a mask from her storage card and put it on, also changing her clothes.

She silently made her way to the hotel she had checked yesterday, climbing up the wall in the alley behind the hotel to return to her room.

She was lucky; no one noticed her actions.

After closing the hotel window, Carlotta took a few deep breaths, then went to wash her face before checking out at the front desk.

Next, Carlotta quickly went to the Cecily Flower Shop where she had placed a deposit yesterday.

"I’m Carlotta White, who reserved roses last night. While waiting for your shop’s roses to arrive, I accidentally overslept," Carlotta said, trying to appear relaxed with a hint of frustration in her tone.

The flower shop owner naturally didn’t think much of it, completing the transaction with a smile.

After receiving a bouquet of vibrant red roses, Carlotta quickly left.

She returned to the Caerwyn Academy.

Coincidentally, Avery was at the academy’s entrance, and seemed about to go out.

Seeing Carlotta return with a bouquet of roses, Avery couldn’t help but showed a strange expression.

Carlotta immediately walked over, smiling, "Miss Clarke, thank you for your recommendation yesterday. The roses from Cecily’s shop do look very good, I’m quite satisfied with the quality."

Avery’s expression was odd, "As long as you’re satisfied..."

Carlotta didn’t say much, just leaving Avery with the impression that she had gone out to buy roses.

Watching Carlotta’s departing figure, Avery asserted, "Still saying they’re not dating, people these days really like to say one thing and mean another."

Buying roses during the Rose Festival, how could they not be dating?

Holding the roses, Carlotta walked towards Amelia’s dorm.

Suddenly giving Amelia roses made Carlotta feel a bit uneasy, not knowing if it would create more misunderstandings, but since the roses were bought, she had to give them out. This was the final step in her plan to hunt Soren.

The previous steps had all been safely completed, so this last step naturally had to be done well.

She knew this would likely make the rumors spread even more, but she had no choice. If it caused any trouble for Amelia, she could only compensate her slowly in the future.

Soon, Carlotta arrived at the noble dormitory building.

Arriving outside the noble dormitory building, Carlotta looked ahead with a slightly subtle expression.

There were many trash bins outside the dormitory, but they weren’t dirty because clusters of flowers were blooming vibrantly inside them.

Especially outside Amelia’s dormitory, there were so many flowers that the trash bins couldn’t contain them all, and many flowers were placed on the ground alongside the bins.

Sending flowers during the Rose Festival was already a tradition in the Wendell Empire, but many people’s flower-giving was just wishful thinking. Such actions only led to their flowers ending up in the trash bins.

Amelia was the most beautiful person Carlotta had ever seen among all humans, and since human aesthetics are largely similar, Amelia naturally became the object of pursuit for many.

During this festival, Amelia inevitably encountered many suitors presenting her with flowers.

"Isn’t there a rumor circulating in the academy that I’m dating Fenwick? Even in this situation, so many people are still sending flowers?"

Carlotta muttered to herself.

For some reason, a hint of displeasure welled up in her heart.

However, she and Amelia were not in that kind of relationship. Even if she felt slightly displeased, she could only keep it hidden in her heart. She didn’t have the qualification to interfere in such matters, at least not yet.

Taking a deep breath, Carlotta stepped forward and knocked on Amelia’s door.

...

Amelia didn’t like the Rose Festival. Just like Soren, on this day, she will also have many suitors appear, and the number will far exceed Soren’s, undoubtedly bringing her a lot of trouble and giving her quite a headache.

To make the suitors give up, she could only expressionlessly throw the flowers they brought into the trash bins.

It wasn’t that she had no interest in matters of the heart, but she felt that the person meant for her was not among these suitors.

"Knock, knock, knock."

When the sound of knocking came, Amelia rubbed her temples.

Someone was here again.

If she had known, she would have left the academy earlier. Perhaps disappearing for a day and then returning would have reduced many of her troubles. But who knew that so many people would come knocking so early in the morning? She hadn’t even had the chance to leave yet.

Sighing, Amelia got up and went to open the door.

"Good morning, Miss Fenwick."

Outside, Carlotta, with her hair in twin tails and wearing her usual khaki dress, greeted her with a sweet smile.

"Oh, it’s you, Miss White," Amelia relaxed a bit upon seeing Carlotta. "Good morning."

She returned the greeting and then noticed that Carlotta was holding a bouquet of roses, which made her expression change slightly.

These flowers... surely they weren’t meant for her, were they?

Amelia couldn’t help but think of the rumors circulating in the academy these past few days, but Carlotta should know, just like her, that they were just rumors. Could she really be influenced by rumors?

Seeing the change in Amelia’s expression, Carlotta couldn’t help but feel a bit awkward.

But she still spoke up: "it is for the most beautiful Miss Fenwick."

Amelia subconsciously took the bouquet, her expression still subtle, "Miss White, you..."

She looked at Carlotta strangely.

Although Carlotta felt awkward inside, she tried to maintain a composed appearance on the surface and said, "I don’t mean anything else, I just wanted to give you flowers, to have a little sense of participation in the Rose Festival... really, nothing else. You can even throw them in the trash bin later, I won’t mind."

Amelia: "..."

Looking at Carlotta, she didn’t know what to say for a moment.

...

Meanwhile,

In the coffee shop across from the Warrior Shooting Club, Albus and Egon were still leisurely savoring their coffee, completely unaware that something extremely terrifying had happened.

"This cup of Caramel has a bit too much sugar," Albus commented on the coffee in front of him.

Egon didn’t speak. He felt that the Cocoa he was drinking was just right and very satisfying to him.

After taking a sip of coffee, he looked up at the club across the street and saw a person walking down the corridor on the third floor.

When this person reached the entrance of the Tulip Shooting Range, they seemed to notice something, crouched down with a puzzled expression, and then suddenly stood up, let out a scream, and turned around to flee like mad.

Something’s happened!

Seeing this, Egon immediately stood up and looked Albus beside him.

Albus, who had also noticed the situation at the club at some point, stood up as well.

Their eyes met, and without a word of nonsense, they immediately rushed out of the coffee shop. As they ran, they exerted force with their legs and, upon reaching the club’s building, leaped up, directly clearing the height of three floors.

They grabbed the railing of the third floor and pulled themselves onto the corridor.

Only upon reaching this spot did they notice that the lower half of the Tulip Shooting Range’s door had been broken open, and the hole was even stained with blood.

This sight made their hearts tighten, and they rushed over to forcefully open the door.

The scene inside the shooting range clearly came into view, and in that instant, they felt an indescribable sensation wash over them, making their heads spin and their limbs turn cold, unable to stand.

What did they see?

Soren, whom they were supposed to protect, was now decapitated, her body seemed cold for quite some time.

Under their protection, the young lady of the Carlisle Viscount’s family had been killed!

Who did it?

Who on earth did it?

Albus and Egon were both panicked and horrified, completely unable to comprehend what had happened, but they knew this matter was extremely serious, so serious that it made their entire bodies tremble.

How were they going to explain this to the Carlisle Viscount?

...

In the end, Amelia did not throw Carlotta’s flowers into the trash bin. After Carlotta left, Amelia thought about it and decided to bring the bouquet of roses back to her dormitory, placing it on the table.

"Just wanting to have a sense of participation, Miss White? But why did you have to have a sense of participation?"

Looking at the roses on the table, Amelia still felt her mood was subtle.

What kind of feelings did White have towards her?

"Regardless, among all the roses that appeared this morning, this bouquet seems to be of the highest quality... Did you carefully choose them, Miss White?"

Amelia murmured to herself.

And how should she, in turn, face Miss White in the future?

Looking at the roses on the table, Amelia couldn’t help but lose herself in thought for a moment.
