Chapter 822: Chapter 840: Mum, Mum, Mum! (10)
Isabel shook her head, nerves taking hold as her fingers started shaking uncontrollably: "No, how could I ever lie to Raymond?"
It was only then that Percy turned off the vacuum cleaner, speaking calmly to his son, "Raymond, haven’t you been wanting to find your mum all this time? Now she’s back - it’s Sister Isabel, the one you love so much. Aren’t you happy?"
Upon hearing these words, Isabel held back her emotions and looked intensely at Raymond.
Even his father was saying that Sister Isabel was his mother... For a boy who idolizes his father, the accuracy of this revelation had just peaked.
Raymond looked first at his father and then at Isabel, seeing that both were equally serious. He finally realized that this was an undeniable truth.
He really was Sister Isabel’s son.
His eyes turned red in an instant.
Seeing Raymond like this, Isabel’s heart ached. She reached out to hug him.
But Raymond raised his hand, pushed her away violently, and jumped back from her. He then ran towards the bedroom door and rushed through it.
Isabel hadn’t expected this reaction from Raymond, and she stood up reflexively, "Raymond!"
Raymond hesitated for a moment, but didn’t turn back, his shoulders shaking as if he was crying.
Percy glanced at Isabel, stepped beside Raymond, and gently patted his head, more soothingly than ever, "Raymond, your mum is right in front of you. Go on and call her ’Mom’."
Upon hearing this, Isabel stopped trying to approach Raymond.
To Isabel, she would be willing to give up her life for the chance to hear him call her ’Mom’.
About half a minute later, Raymond slowly turned his head.
Isabel’s heart picked up as she anxiously awaited his response.
However, Raymond only glanced at Isabel, pursed his lips, and raised his leg to quickly run out of Percy’s bedroom. Then, a loud bang was heard from the neighboring bedroom door.
That sound shook Isabel’s heart, making it tremble violently.
She had been afraid that Raymond would hate her, which was why she hadn’t immediately told him the truth that she was his mother when she found out. She had been searching for the right opportunity, doing everything she could to make Raymond like her more. In the end, the truth she finally revealed was met with his refusal to forgive.
At that moment, Isabel felt unbearably distressed, and she slumped back onto the sofa, completely drained of energy.
Percy quickly walked over to her, lifted his arm, and pulled her into his embrace, comforting her softly, "It’s alright, Raymond’s just been startled. He needs some time to adjust; deep down, he still loves you as his mom."
Isabel knew these were just comforting words from Percy; her mood didn’t improve, she simply leaned against his chest, her body trembling for a long while before she finally spoke, "Percy, Raymond really doesn’t like me, he really doesn’t..."
"No, no, don’t think like that." Percy stroked Isabel’s hair, lowered his head, and kissed her forehead, doing his best to ease her panic.
