Chapter 791: Chapter 809: Then, I’m Ready to Love You (32)
His enthusiastic response left Isabel momentarily stunned. She then looked at Percy with a somewhat amused expression, wanting to laugh at his child-like innocence. However, seeing Percy’s stern face, Isabel suppressed her urge to smile, bent down to place the slippers beside the bed, and then helped him walk over to the dining table.
As the two ate in silence, the only sound that filled the air came from the clinking of cutlery and porcelain bowls and plates.
After a while, Isabel placed a piece of meat in Percy’s bowl. Percy hesitated for a moment before a faint smile appeared on the corner of his lips. He bowed his head and silently ate the meat, and then, following Isabel’s lead, he picked up a piece of rib and placed it in her bowl.
Isabel looked up at Percy and smiled before lowering her head to take a bite.
Just as her mouth was about to touch the rib, Percy suddenly reached out, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her towards him.
Isabel shuddered, and the rib held by her chopsticks fell to the ground with a clatter. Annoyed, she furrowed her brows and asked, "What are you doing?"
Ignoring her question, Percy gently lifted Isabel’s long hair and saw the traces of the medicine burns on her neck, leaving red marks. He finally understood and furrowed his brow, gingerly touching her skin and asking apologetically, "Does it hurt?"
"It hurts," Isabel replied without hesitation.
Percy’s expression became even more remorseful.
Isabel then smiled gently, "But it doesn’t hurt now."
Percy still sincerely apologized to Isabel, "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do it at noon."
Truthfully, Isabel had long stopped being angry, but now, seeing his sincere apology, a faint sense of sweetness rose within her heart.
Isabel casually rubbed her neck and said, "It’s fine. It’ll be better in two days."
Percy’s finger lightly traced the reddened skin of Isabel’s neck where the burn wasn’t too severe. He looked somewhat disheartened at her smiling, charming face. After a long silence, he muttered an apology, "I’m sorry." He then stood up, walked aside, and rang the call bell.
When the caregiver came, he asked for a bottle of burn ointment.
After the burn ointment arrived, Percy sat on the dining chair, pulled Isabel towards him, and carefully applied the ointment to her burn with his finger.
Percy’s movements were very meticulous. The cool medicine, accompanied by his gentle touch, felt as if he was handling a significant matter with a solemn expression on his face. This caused Isabel to burst into laughter.
Puzzled by her laughter, Percy stared into her eyes and asked while applying the medicine, "Why are you laughing?"
Of course, Isabel wouldn’t tell him she was laughing at his silliness. So she lowered her eyelids without speaking, but the corner of her lips still revealed a noticeable smile.
This sweet and playful expression of hers made Percy’s heart feel warm and fuzzy. After finishing applying the ointment, he couldn’t help but hold her in his arms. He stared intently into her eyes for a while, then suddenly lowered his head to kiss her lips.
