Chapter 789: Chapter 807: Then, I’m Ready to Love You (30)

Feeling uncomfortable deep inside, his temper wasn’t good either, and his anger manifested in a level of force that pushed Isabel Smith into a stagger.

Immediately afterwards, Percy Stanton flipped up the quilt and covered his head again.

Isabel Smith stumbled while trying to balance the medicine bowl in one hand, causing the medicinal contents to splash all over her neck.

She was wearing a low-cut shirt, and the medicine had a high temperature, which burned her and caused her whole body to shudder in pain. With a loosening grip, the medicine bowl fell to the ground.

Percy, hearing the commotion, lifted the quilt, turned his head, and saw Isabel Smith lowering her head and bending down to pick up the medicine bowl.

Her long hair just happened to cover her neck, obscuring the burns from Percy’s view.

He furrowed his brows and said, "Don’t pick it up; let the caregiver clean it up later."

Isabel Smith kept her head down and said nothing, continuing to collect the broken shards and tossing them into the trash can beside her. She then walked to the side with her head still lowered, picked up a clean set of clothes, and entered the bathroom.

Percy didn’t know what Isabel Smith was doing inside. He vaguely heard the rustling of water.

He then laid with his eyes open, staring at the ceiling, his mood becoming increasingly restless.

What was wrong with him? He had never dared to bully Isabel Smith like this before, but today he had lost his temper with her in his irritation.

In the bathroom, Isabel rinsed away the burns on her neck with cold water. After the pain had somewhat subsided, she changed into clean clothes, reached her hand out to adjust her hair, covering the red marks, and then stepped out of the bathroom. Standing at the door, she said to Percy who was lying on the bed, "I’m going downstairs to pick up Raymond."

Percy moved his lips, wanting to speak, but in the end, he just closed his eyes.

Isabel Smith stood at the bathroom door, watching Percy for a while before turning around and leaving the room.

...

Truthfully, Isabel Smith felt wronged. She had no idea what was going on with Percy; he had shown a temper before but had never been this violent.

So when she went downstairs to pick up Raymond Thompson, she nearly burst into tears.

Since ancient times, parents didn’t like their children to see them arguing, fearing it would affect the child’s emotions negatively. So before going to find Raymond, Isabel Smith managed to control her emotions, washed their small hands at the faucet on the ground floor, patted down his dirty clothes, and then took him back to the infirmary together.

Lying in bed, Percy appeared to be asleep. Raymond, understanding the situation, didn’t make a fuss. Instead, he changed into clean clothes, sat on the sofa, turned on the TV to watch a cartoon, and even remembered to turn the volume down to its minimum.

Isabel Smith went to the bathroom and washed both her and Raymond’s dirty clothes thoroughly. When she came out, it was already slightly dark outside, and Percy still hadn’t woken up.

After a while, the caregiver brought dinner, and Isabel glanced at Percy who hadn’t moved from his earlier position. She then said to Raymond, "Raymond, go tell Dad it’s time for dinner."

Raymond nodded, slid down from the sofa, ran to Percy’s side, and said in a childish voice, "Dad, it’s time for dinner."

Percy turned over in bed, ignoring Raymond and appearing to continue sleeping.

Raymond looked back at Isabel, then stretched out his hand to push Percy again, "It’s time for dinner, Dad."
