Chapter 787: Chapter 805: Then, I’m Ready to Love You (28)
"Get out, just get out!"
The last few words uttered by Percy Stanton seemed to release the pent-up anger in his chest. After he shouted, the infirmary fell silent, and then the door in front of Isabel Smith was pulled open from the inside.
"Miss Smith."
The head doctor leading the team looked at Isabel Smith at the doorstep, hesitated a little, and then awkwardly greeted her.
Percy, whose chest heaved with unstable emotions inside the room, heard the greeting "Miss Smith" and tensed up slightly. He raised his head and glanced at the door.
Isabel met Percy’s gaze and then looked at the group of doctors who had just been yelled at by him. She smiled apologetically, "Thank you all."
The doctors nodded their heads hurriedly and rushed away one after another.
The infirmary quieted down again, and Isabel walked in after pushing open the door. She didn’t see Raymond Thompson in the room, so she asked aloud, "Where’s Raymond?"
Percy had no idea how much Isabel had heard while standing at the door. He indeed didn’t want to remove these bandages, and he didn’t want to be discharged from the hospital either. In the hospital, he could find an excuse to have Isabel keep him company every day.
Hearing Isabel’s question, Percy swallowed his saliva and turned his head, looking out the window in annoyance, and said, "He went downstairs to play."
Isabel placed the milk on the table, walked forward, and smelled a faint scent of cigarette smoke. She circled the room and saw seven or eight cigarette butts of different lengths in the ashtray on Percy’s bedside table. Frowning, she walked up to him and, without a second thought, opened her hand and demanded, "Give me all the cigarettes you’re carrying."
Percy didn’t speak.
Isabel, however, simply bent down and rifled through Percy’s bed and clothes for a while before finally getting a soft box of cigarettes. She opened it and found five or six cigarettes inside. She took them out, broke them, and threw them directly into the trash can nearby.
"Percy, you’re in such a state now, yet you’re still smoking. Do you know how harmful smoking is to your health right now?!"
Isabel’s voice was slightly angry when she spoke, and her eyes were round, staring intently at Percy. In the end, she decisively raised her hand, picked up the ashtray from the table, and threw it into the trash can as well.
Percy stared at Isabel, still not making a sound. However, his whole body felt a little dizzy. Was she caring about him?
But he was afraid that this was only temporary. Once he was healed and discharged from the hospital, everything would return to how it was before.
While she was leaving the infirmary with George Vincent, he also followed and walked out. Standing by the window in the corridor, he waited for a while, then saw the two of them leaving the building together.
The afternoon sun was exceptionally bright and beautiful, shining warmly on them. The scene looked very beautiful and harmonious; they were very well-matched as a couple.
That’s why, at that moment, he felt an unexplained panic deep in his heart. Several times, he wanted to pick up his mobile phone to call her, but he ended up putting it down every time.
In such anxiety, he waited for several hours before she finally returned.
What did she and George Vincent talk about? For so long?
The more Percy thought about it, the more frightened he felt deep in his heart. Even though Isabel was standing in front of him now, he still felt uncertain.
