Chapter 774: Chapter 792: Then, I’m Ready to Love You (15)
From outside the room, Isabel clearly heard Percy’s calm response: "Hmm, I know, put it down."
She found this surprising. Every time she gave him his medicine, he’d grimace and refuse to drink it. But why was he now agreeing to take the medicine so easily?
Isabel quietly pouted, standing by the window. She covertly peeked into the room, where she could see Percy lifting the bowl of medicine and taking a few sips. However, once the nurse left the room, he quickly put the bowl back down on the table.
About two minutes later, the nurse returned to Percy’s room. She saw that he had barely touched the medicine and asked, "Mr. Stanton, the medicine has cooled, why haven’t you drunk it?"
"I forgot," Percy lied blatantly, then, appearing slightly restless, raised his head and glanced at the door. He wondered why Isabel was taking so long in the restroom.
Frowning, Percy took out his mobile phone. Isabel’s phone, tucked in her pocket, began to buzz.
Isabel quietly stepped back two paces, hiding by the wall while answering the call. She heard Percy’s nonchalant voice from the other end: "Isabel, when are you coming back?"
"Very soon."
"Mmm."
After Percy ended the call, Isabel moved towards the door. Before she could open it, she heard Percy’s voice saying to the nurse: "Please heat the medicine again and bring it back to me."
"Very well, Mr. Stanton."
There was a microwave in the room. After about a minute, the nurse brought out the heated medicine and put it back on the table next to Percy. "Mr. Stanton, I have other patients to attend to. Be sure to drink this while it’s hot. I’ll check in on you later."
Percy didn’t respond verbally, just nodded. The nurse quickly turned and left the room. With many people milling around in the corridor, the nurse, who was quite busy, didn’t notice Isabel.
Isabel waited until the nurse entered another room before opening the door and walking in. She glanced at the bowl of medicine on the table, still steaming hot, and acted as though she was oblivious of what had happened earlier. She said to Percy, "Did the medicine come? Drink it while it’s hot."
"I think I’m almost recovered." Like always, Percy started finding excuses to not drink the medicine.
Deep down, Isabel understood Percy’s motive for his earlier actions — he wanted her to coax him kindly. As per usual, she pulled up a chair next to Percy’s bed, sat down, picked up the medicine bowl, stirred it a couple of times with a spoon, then looked up at Percy and said softly, "What you think doesn’t matter. What matters is what the doctor thinks. The doctor says you’re still in the recovery period and need to be nourished well. This medicine might be bitter now, but close your eyes, drink it, and you’ll be fine."
Percy’s brows and eyes relaxed noticeably, although his words were still somewhat gloomy: "Drinking all these bitter medicines every day even makes my breath bitter."
