Chapter 773: Chapter 791: Then, I’m Ready to Love You (14)
After twenty-four hours of close observation in the Intensive Care Unit, Percy Stanton’s condition has become stable. On the second day, he was transferred to a first-class VIP ward that was extremely spacious, had a south-facing floor-to-ceiling window beside the bed, a leather sofa, and a separate bathroom and kitchen.
In the room, Percy’s family and the hospital dean, along with the expert doctors responsible for Percy’s treatment, were gathered, chatting politely. The fresh flowers and supplements they brought filled half of the room.
Percy had woken up twice during this time, but due to the severity of his injuries and the pain-relieving medication added to his intravenous drip, he was groggy and not very alert. Faced with everyone’s greetings, he appeared somewhat silent, and soon fell asleep again.
Thomas Quincy, worried about disturbing Percy’s rest, instructed everyone to make their conversations short. Before the Thompson Empire Group’s people left, they each said goodbye to Isabel Smith and asked her to take good care of Percy.
By noon, the room was finally empty, leaving only Isabel and a nurse.
There wasn’t much medicine left in Percy’s infusion bottle, so Isabel asked the nurse to keep an eye on it while she went to visit Raymond Thompson’s room. She found him in the company of Ella Adams, having a great time.
Having confirmed that Raymond was out of danger, Isabel arranged his discharge procedures and brought him back to Percy’s room, thinking that there was nobody to take care of him at home.
There were two beds in the VIP ward; Isabel and Raymond slept on one, and Percy had the other one.
Over the next few days, Percy’s wakeful hours gradually increased. Tony Williams visited the hospital daily, sometimes staying for a long time, sometimes only briefly. He even brought up some matters for the Thompson Empire Group to seek Percy’s opinion.
Isabel caught him doing this once or twice and grumbled about Tony disturbing the patient. Eventually, every time Tony came, she couldn’t wait to send him away. On a couple of occasions, Tony didn’t even get to see her face.
Days in the hospital were actually quite dull. Although Isabel was there to take care of Percy, most of the tasks were done by the nurse. The Smith Corporation’s work had been delegated early on, and there were no major matters in the company. Furthermore, keen on not letting Percy work, Isabel and Percy ended up being completely idle.
For Isabel, her main task afterward was to feed Percy traditional medicine. She had personally visited the Department of Traditional Medicine at the hospital to carefully choose the prescription supplements for him.
Traditional medicine had slower effects but was better for the body, unlike the strong stimulation of western medicine. However, drinking traditional medicine was quite agonizing. Percy was no exception, disliking the medicine and even showing an aversion to it.
Isabel wasn’t angry; instead, she gently coaxed Percy. In his dreams, Percy wished for Isabel’s kindness, so he couldn’t resist her smiling eyes and gentle words. He immediately picked up the medicine bowl and drank the black and bitter potion without saying a word.
With each subsequent drink of traditional medicine, Percy would always put on an extremely unwilling and disgusted expression. At first, Isabel didn’t know that Percy was doing it on purpose and always patiently coaxed him. Later on,
