Chapter 747: Chapter 765: The Unknown Good (8)

Ella Adams felt a tightening in her heart and hurriedly pulled the car door open. The car was unlocked, and it opened easily. She reached out and pushed Elijah Smith’s shoulder, but the man still didn’t lift his head. However, her fingertips felt his cold sweat.

Ella frowned and continued to gently pat Elijah’s shoulder. Elijah looked at her with a dazed expression and then rested his head back on the steering wheel, motionless again.

Ella could clearly see that his vision was blurry. She couldn’t help but reach out, pulling on his shoulder, and said, "Elijah Smith, get out of the car and sit in the passenger seat. I’ll take you to the hospital."

As she spoke, she exerted more force, dragging the upper half of his body out of the car.

Elijah let out a faint moan, opening his eyes reluctantly. His gaze was hazy, and it was unclear what he could see. With her help, he got out of the car, but he was so weak that most of his weight was on her shoulders. He mumbled with a slurred speech, "Ella, I’m so sleepy... Don’t mess around... Be good..."

His tone was affectionate.

Supporting Elijah’s hand, Ella suddenly stopped in her tracks.

She stood there, dumbfounded, in front of the car, motionless.

It felt as if time had reversed in that instant, and they were back in the season of love many years ago.

A girl in love is always a bit spoiled. Sheltered by his affection, she became so willful in his world. No matter how tired or sleepy he was the next day, if she wanted to go out, he had to get up from bed to accompany her. Back then, when she pulled his arm and asked him to get up, he also spoke in such an affectionate and blurred tone.

"Ella, I’m so sleepy... Don’t mess around... Be good..."

After such a long time, she always thought that this kind of affectionate and helpless words would only exist in her dreams. But now, he unexpectedly spoke them to her.

It took Ella a long time to come back to her senses. She continued to support Elijah’s body, walking to the passenger seat. She opened the car door and reluctantly stuffed Elijah in, fastening the seatbelt for him, before getting in the car herself and driving away from the airport.

Ella found a hospital near the airport and registered for emergency care. After a simple checkup, the doctor told her it was just a cold and a fever, nothing serious. Only then did Ella breathe a sigh of relief.

The hospital was always busy. The doctor hung an intravenous drip for Elijah and instructed Ella to press the service bell when it was nearly finished before hurrying off to another ward.

The infirmary suddenly quieted down. Ella sat on a chair by the window, staring at the patients resting in the garden below for a while, then turned her head and looked at Elijah, lying quietly on the bed with an IV connected.

Seeing Elijah in such a quiet slumber, Ella finally felt free to observe him closely.

Some patches of sunlight filtered through the window into the infirmary, casting a gentle glow on his face and highlighting the dark circles under his eyes.

She used to love staying up late, but doing so often resulted in dark circles under her eyes. She would always use makeup to cover them the next day, even though she continued to stay up late and involve him in her late-night activities. His complexion was fair, and a laugh would reveal a beautiful curve under his eyes. Even when he frequently stayed up late, he rarely had dark circles.

Back then, she would apply an eye mask and grumble at him while he would proudly tell her that it was his natural beauty.
