Chapter 740: Chapter 758: The Unknown Good (1)
He didn’t dare to offend Ella Adams, he just approached her carefully and chivalrously bit by bit. They had been in contact for almost two years, but he had never had intimate contact with her.
In Ella Adams, he found everything he was willing to give his time and energy into.
He didn’t know if this was the universe favoring those who strive. Tonight, he drove Ella Adams to the hotel. As usual, he thought she would get off the car at the entrance of the hotel, say goodbye to him, and go upstairs alone. But he still habitually turned his head and half-jokingly asked Ella Adams, "Would you invite me upstairs?"
Unexpectedly, Ella Adams paused, then nodded slightly and said in a somewhat indifferent tone, "Okay, take the car directly to the underground parking lot."
They’re all adults, who understand what that means. That’s why Clarence Cooper was particularly excited. When they arrived at the hotel and Ella Adams went to take a bath, he said he would also take one. She didn’t object, so he knew, it’s happening tonight.
For a woman who required such efforts to win over, Clarence Cooper naturally wouldn’t rush like someone without manners. So, he opened a bottle of red wine and made an effort to impress her using all the charm skills he learned throughout the years.
Once he figured the timing was right, he pressed her down on the sofa, lifted his hand to touch her face, and then softly said, "Ella, I’ve liked you for a long time..."
Ella had only felt deep affection from Elijah Smith. That man, with just a devout look at her and kissing her carefully as if she were a precious treasure, made her feel deeply loved.
Now, as she stared into Clarence’s seemingly passionate face with her glass-like eyes, she felt no hint of deep affection,
Even when Clarence moved in for a kiss, she felt an impulse of disgust and nausea from deep within. She instinctually turned her face away, avoiding him.
Clarence’s kiss landed on nothing but air and he was left stunned.
Ella kept her eyes downcast, pretending to be oblivious, and continued to turn her face away.
Clarence swallowed, then touched Ella’s long hair, asking, "What’s wrong?"
Ella didn’t answer.
Clarence figured it was just because it was their first time and she was not comfortable, so he chuckled lightly, kissed her forehead, stood up, pulled off the bathrobe he was wearing, threw it aside. Then, he leaned over, intending to untie Ella’s bathrobe.
The loop knot of the bathrobe belt had just been untied somewhat when Ella, who had been wide-eyed, blurted out, "Clarence?"
Clarence’s movements did not stop. Lifting his head, he looked at Ella, hummed affirmatively, and asked, "Ella, what’s wrong?"
Ella dropped her gaze to the belt on her bathrobe, and said, "Clarence, remove your hand from my clothes."
Clarence wasn’t sure what was going on with Ella, but she suddenly seemed so rational. He paused while untying her bathrobe, stared carefully at Ella for a moment, then spoke as if making a promise, "Ella, don’t worry, I’ll take responsibility."
Ella swiftly raised her hand, pulling his away, pushed him and got up. She tightened her bathrobe and said, "Clarence, I’m sorry, but I don’t need you to take responsibility."
Clarence furrowed his brows. It was clear that Ella wasn’t joking. He thought carefully, but couldn’t figure out what went wrong tonight. Her sudden stop in the middle had left things hanging, and it was hard to avoid feeling a bit agitated. So his each word carried barely suppressed frustration: "Ella, if you didn’t want this, why did you invite me upstairs?"
