Chapter 709: Chapter 727: They seem to have a mother-child resemblance (10)
Isabel squatted on the toilet, noticing the bloody stain on her underwear, and remembered she was in Raymond’s restroom. She used some sanitary paper as a makeshift pad and went back to Percy’s bedroom to look for sanitary napkins.
Isabel had been staying with Percy for a while, but she spent a good amount of time in the hospital. Percy, being a man, naturally wouldn’t have female hygiene products on hand. Coincidentally, there were no sanitary napkins at their place!
Isabel knew she was bleeding heavily and wouldn’t be able to hold out until she bought sanitary napkins. As she continued to rely on the paper pad, she reluctantly left the restroom and called out for Percy.
Perhaps she was too loud, and as she called for Percy, she also summoned Raymond.
Given Raymond’s presence, Isabel reconsidered blurting out "I’m on my period, can you help me buy sanitary pads?" Instead, she thought for a moment and told Percy, "I need bread. Can you help me buy some?"
Many women would understand the meaning behind calling a pad ’bread’, but men usually don’t. So Percy furrowed his brow and said, "Didn’t we just buy a lot of bread before picking Raymond up from school? Why do we need more?"
Raymond, being the innocent child he was, assumed that Isabel wanted the same bread he usually ate. Thus, just as Percy finished talking, Raymond eagerly told Isabel, "Sister Isabel, wait here, I’ll go get you that bread right away."
Having said that, he dashed out of the bedroom.
No, that’s not what I meant!" Isabel urgently tried to stop him. Biting her finger, she thought for a moment and said, "I need bread with wings, long and wide, folded into a square shape."
After speaking, Isabel lifted her hand to her face, pretending to flutter wings, then looked at Percy with bright eyes, asking, "Do you get it now?"
Percy blinked before suddenly understanding. However, Raymond shouted loudly from his side, "I know!"
Isabel was astonished. How could a five-year-old boy understand what she was referring to?
Did Percy prematurely educate the boy?
Raymond’s black eyes rolled a few times, still innocently gazing at Isabel. He asked nervously as if playing a guessing game, "Is it an angel? My teacher said angels have wings!"
Isabel froze on the spot, lacking the experience of raising a child. She raised her head, looking at Percy for help.
But Raymond blinked, continuing to ask, "Sister Isabel, do you want angel-shaped bread?"
Isabel’s face instantly turned red.
Percy picked up his wallet from the table, telling Isabel, "I’ll be right back."
He then left the bedroom.
Raymond turned toward Percy’s retreating figure, shouting, "Dad, I’ve never had angel bread. Can you buy me one too, please?"
Percy walked even faster.
Raymond pouted and followed, asking, "Dad, what flavors do angel breads have?"
Percy silently changed his shoes, a trace of barely noticeable red flushing his fair-skinned cheeks.
"Dad, is there a matcha-flavored angel bread? I like matcha-flavored ones the most."
At this moment, Isabel barely mustered the strength to walk out of the bedroom, holding onto the door frame. She told Percy, who was about to leave, "Remember to buy both day-use and night-use."
