Chapter 684: Chapter 702: Go ahead and please Isabel Smith (5)

However, he was afraid that this was just a fleeting moment, and that once he recovered and left the hospital, everything would return to how it used to be.

When she left the infirmary with George Vincent, he stood up and followed them out, standing by the window in the corridor, and watched as they left the building together.

The afternoon sun was exceptionally bright and beautiful, casting a warm and dazzling glow on them. The sight of them together seemed picturesque and harmonious, a perfect match.

As a result, Percy Stanton felt an inexplicable wave of panic deep in his heart, and several times he wanted to pick up his mobile phone to call Isabel Smith, but ultimately put it down.

It took hours of anxious waiting for him before she finally returned.

What did she talk to George Vincent about? For so long?

The more Percy thought about it, the more panic he felt at the bottom of his heart. Even though Isabel Smith was now standing right in front of him, he still felt unsure.

He wanted to ask what they talked about, but he was afraid to hear from her that she and George Vincent might soon be together.

When did he become so insecure?

At this moment, Percy Stanton felt as if he had been isolated in another space, helpless and at a loss.

Isabel Smith could see that Percy was unhappy but couldn’t guess why. So, after getting through her anger, she sat down beside his bed and began massaging his legs.

She had found this on the internet, saying that injured patients who often stay in bed for a long time without moving could suffer from slow blood circulation, causing numbness.

So, she would typically spend her free time massaging his limbs these days.

She had never done this before, so when she first started, she alternated between applying too little and too much pressure. She got scared and quickly adjusted her technique. As the days went by, she gradually became more skilled and figured out how much pressure to apply.

During their inseparable days in the hospital, she’d grown accustomed to Percy’s occasional moody behavior. Whenever she appeased him nicely, he would quickly become cheerful again.

She continued massaging him and then looked up to see if his mood had improved, and finding he looked a little better, she asked, "Percy, what happened today? You don’t seem to be in a good mood."

Percy didn’t respond but just closed his eyes and enjoyed the massage from Isabel Smith.

Isabel rolled her lips and didn’t continue asking.

After a while, she kindly started a conversation, asking, "Percy, what should we eat tonight?"

Percy remained silent.

Isabel considered a few dishes and was about to suggest them for Percy’s opinion, but a knock on the door interrupted her. A caregiver’s voice came from outside, "Miss Smith, Mr. Stanton’s medicine is ready."

The caregiver stood at the door, not coming in.

Isabel knew that they must have been scared by Percy’s earlier outburst, so she got up, went to the door, and took the medicine, saying, "Thank you."

"You’re welcome." The caregiver whispered politely to Isabel, not daring to look at Percy. She added, "I’ll come back later for the medicine bowl." Then, she hurried away.

Isabel chuckled as she closed the door and carried the medicine back to bed. She stirred it a bit, looked up at Percy, and said, "Time to take your medicine."

Percy lay down, pulled up the quilt over his head, and ignored her.

Isabel frowned, feeling that today’s Percy was somewhat different from the usual him who would deliberately refuse to take his medicine. Holding the medicine bowl in one hand, she pulled the quilt with the other, revealing his head. "The medicine will be bad when it gets cold, so drink it. It’s good for your body."

Percy lifted his hand and pulled the quilt back up again.

"Why are you acting like a child? Even Raymond knows better than that," Isabel said gently before lifting the quilt again. "Drink the medicine, then we’ll go downstairs together to get Raymond."
