Chapter 681: Chapter 699: Go and Please Isabel Smith (2)
Isabel Smith looked at George Vincent and blinked, first thinking carefully in her head, realizing that she hadn’t said anything to make George misunderstand, but how could he think that she had fallen for him?
"Isabel, actually, girls shouldn’t act like this. Girls should be more selfish. Most men in this world are bastards, only a few men with sweet talk can make you happy. There’s only a one in a billion chance that a man will be a good man. So, taking care of a man everywhere, it’s really unfair to yourself."
Isabel Smith was completely stunned. She blinked again. Was George Vincent giving her a lesson?
Where did the sign go wrong? How did things get so weird?
"Isabel, I was the first to propose breaking the engagement. You really don’t need to act like I wronged you and consider my feelings." George Vincent paused, slightly adjusting his body as he spoke: "And besides, once a man is determined to break up, a woman can’t hold him back. So... Isabel, don’t be silly. It’s really unlikely for us. You deserve a better man."
Isabel’s face flushed red.
Suppressing the urge to jump up, she looked at George Vincent and laughed softly. Then she lowered her voice and said, "George Vincent, you really misunderstood. I never had any intentions of being with you. The marriage proposal was arranged by our parents. We only met a few times. How much do you think I could like you? I am here today to genuinely break off our engagement. I am not lying, nor am I trying to save face, and I’m not being foolish thinking about you everywhere."
"Do you want to know what my lines were for breaking the engagement? First, I wanted to genuinely apologize, take responsibility, and then tell you, we really don’t suit each other, and I hope you can forgive me. Yet, you started out well but ended up acting like I can’t let go of you anytime, annoyingly adamant, saying ’Isabel, let’s break off the engagement. I don’t want to marry you.’ So, I was just shocked by your attitude, and I really didn’t mean anything else. You’re just overthinking it."
As Isabel spoke, her tone became more urgent. She paused, took a deep breath to calm herself, and continued: "To be honest with you, George Vincent, my son can already walk."
As she had hoped, George Vincent’s expression froze.
"Just like you said, I might forget you because I never remembered you in the first place. Also, I do think about men, but from now on, I’ll only think about one man, and that’s my son’s father."
After saying this, Isabel stood up, picked up her bag, and looked eager to leave immediately: "Actually, I don’t need to explain all this to you, but I’m really afraid that rumors about me liking you and not wanting to break off the engagement will affect my life."
After finishing, Isabel turned around without any hesitation, walked away in her high heels.
Although she did explain everything she had been thinking about to George Vincent, she still felt a bit depressed, so she stomped her way back to Percy Stanton’s infirmary.
But just as she stomped in front of Percy Stanton’s infirmary, Isabel suddenly seemed to remember something, turned around, and walked out of the hospital.
