Chapter 675: Chapter 693: Even if I Die, I’ll Accompany You (26)

Following that, Isabel’s phone had indeed become much quieter, and Percy’s mood had also improved slightly. During the dinner with his family of three, Percy in a good mood instructed his son, Raymond, to eat more to grow stronger.

After the meal, the nurse came in to clean up. Isabel first took Raymond to clean up in the bathroom, then returned to the infirmary. She gave Percy a hot towel to wipe his face, handed him a toothbrush, helped him brush his teeth, and then she and Raymond sat on the sofa together. The three of them watched television in harmony.

Midway through the television show, during a commercial break, Isabel went to the kitchen to prepare fruit. Her mobile phone, which she had left on the table outside, chimed with a new message.

Percy glanced at it out of habit and saw a text message from George Vincent. At first, he frowned, then suddenly he remembered that he had only put George Vincent’s number on the blacklist, forgetting to do the same for his text messages.

Percy rolled his eyes and saw Isabel busy in the kitchen. He silently reached out, preparing to grab the phone and delete the evidence.

However, Raymond, who had been trying to earn Isabel’s praise, picked up the phone before Percy could reach it. The phone slipped from the sofa to the ground, and without a second thought, Raymond ran towards the kitchen, stood at the doorway, and with an enthusiastic expression, said to Isabel, "Sister Isabel, your phone rang. It seems to be a text message."

Percy stared at his son’s small figure, teeth clenched, silently cursing: Who raised such a fool?!

Isabel was deftly peeling an apple, and she responded with a warm smile to Raymond, "Thank you, Raymond. Sister will check it after she finishes peeling the apple."

Raymond nodded and stood at the kitchen doorway with the phone.

Percy thought for a moment and then called out, "Raymond."

As soon as Raymond turned his head, Percy beckoned to him.

Just as Raymond was preparing to walk over to Percy, Isabel finished preparing the fruit. Raymond immediately turned to Isabel and offered cheerfully, "Sister Isabel, let me help you with the fruit. You go ahead and check your text message."

Raymond, after receiving the praise from Isabel, joyfully carried the large plate of assorted fruits of varying sizes to Percy. He carefully placed the fruit platter on the table, then looked up at Percy, blinking, and asked innocently, "Father, did you need something from me?"

Looking at his son, who always spoiled his plans, Percy felt a tightness in his chest. He clenched his teeth and replied tersely, "Nothing!"

"Oh." Raymond acknowledged, and although he felt that Percy seemed a bit upset, he didn’t understand why his father was unhappy. So he picked up a toothpick and offered it to Percy, "Father, would you like some fruit?"

Percy cast a cold glance at his son and said, "No."

Raymond, holding the toothpick, blinked at Percy.

Just as Percy raised his hand to take the toothpick, Raymond slowly withdrew his hand. He used the toothpick he was about to give to Percy, to spear a piece of apple, cocked his head to one side, and began to eat with relish.

In a moment, Percy’s face darkened. Staring at the back of his son’s head, he took several deep breaths before raising his head to look at Isabel.

She was heading towards the sofa while browsing the text message on her phone.

The message from George Vincent read: "Isabel, what’s going on with your phone? Why can’t I get through?"

Isabel fiddled with her phone in confusion and responded to George Vincent: "Nothing, I’m not sure what’s going on, what did you need?"

A little while later, George Vincent sent another text: "Didn’t we agree to have dinner together a few days ago? Why didn’t you show up?"
