As usual, Isabel Smith pulled up a chair next to Percy Stanton’s bed, sat down, picked up the medicine bowl, stirred it with a spoon a couple of times, and looked up at Percy with a soft voice, "What you think doesn’t matter, what matters is what the doctor thinks. The doctor said you are still in the recovery period, so you must get better. The medicine is bitter now, but close your eyes, drink it, and everything will be fine."

Percy’s eyebrows relaxed a bit, but his words were still a bit dull, "Drinking this medicine every day makes even my breath taste bitter."

"Really?" Isabel leaned in close to Percy’s face, sniffed with her nose, and said, "I can’t smell it. Open your mouth and let me smell it."

Percy opened his mouth with an "ah," and Isabel quickly shoved the spoonful of medicinal juice into Percy’s mouth, then put the spoon back into the bowl, raised Percy’s chin with her hand, and let the medicine in his mouth slurp all the way down his throat.

Realizing that he had been deceived, Percy snorted coldly and turned his face away, waiting for Isabel to coax him.

That day when he woke up, he vaguely heard Isabel tell him that she had agreed to be with him, but after he woke up, she never brought it up again. He was unsure if it was his illusion or reality, and he did not dare to ask. He was afraid that once she opened her mouth, she would remember her parents’ blood feud.

Even though she was right in front of him, taking care of him day and night, his heart was still unsure about her, feeling like Isabel might leave him at any moment.

He did not know whether this was considered a lingering symptom caused by Isabel repeatedly choosing to give up on him when faced with choices.

Percy really didn’t have that much self-confidence and assurance anymore.

So, he genuinely cherished every bit of kindness Isabel showed him, deliberately pretending not to like the medicine, just so she would patiently coax him.

Looking at Percy’s stern face, Isabel was completely certain about her guess.

As expected, he was just being childish in order to enjoy her being nice to him.

He was not unable to drink traditional medicine; he just wanted her to accompany him while drinking it. Even when he let the medicine cool down, he still waited for her to come back.

For a moment, Isabel did not know how to describe the sadness welling up in her heart.

Percy saw that Isabel hadn’t said anything for a while, and his heart became slightly tense. He couldn’t help but turn his head nonchalantly and glanced at her.

Isabel quickly came back to her senses, smiled brightly at Percy, and brought the spoon to his face, "The medicine will cool down soon, drink it warm. If you really think it’s bitter, I’ll get you some sugar to eat afterwards."

"Look how nice the weather is today. After you finish your medicine, I’ll push you downstairs to get some sun. Raymond is downstairs playing games with his little friends, and we can pick him up for dinner."

"What would you like for dinner? If the hospital food is not to your liking, I can make a call to Love and ask the Smith Family’s servants to prepare something and bring it over."

Her voice was like soft satin, tender and gentle, which melted Percy’s heart and softened his demeanor. He couldn’t help but open his mouth and drink the medicine Isabel fed him.

Isabel knew that Percy’s heart had been comforted by her coaxing, so she smiled and continued to feed him medicine.

After finishing the medicine, Isabel really called the nurse to help Percy into the wheelchair and pushed him downstairs.

The spring in Bellshire was sunny but not hot. The weather was exceptionally good today, with cloudless blue skies and no wind. Isabel pushed Percy on a flat path to Little Garden, where Raymond was playing.

Raymond was a very enthusiastic child. He was telling stories to two children with congenital disabilities and didn’t notice Isabel and Percy.
