Chapter 648: Chapter 666: The Cute Baby’s Smart Counterattack (9)
"It’s okay, don’t tell Percy about it," Isabel forced a smile.
Tony hesitated for a moment, finally nodded and said, "Alright then, take it slow."
Isabel simply curved the corners of her lips without saying anything else, and turned towards the door to leave.
Watching Isabel leave, Tony felt uneasy. He decided to pick up his mobile phone and call Percy.
Percy answered quickly and the first thing he asked was, "Has something happened to Isabel?"
Upon hearing these urgent words, Tony inexplicably felt a bit guilty. He hurriedly said, "No," and then after some hesitation, said, "Mr. Stanton, there’s something I should tell you."
Percy didn’t say anything.
Tony knew he was listening, and he felt increasingly nervous. After a while, he recounted every word he had said to Isabel last night behind Percy’s back-
On the other end of the call, there was complete silence.
If not for the fact that the call was still connected, Tony would have thought he was speaking to himself on the mobile phone.
As he neared the end of his explanation, his voice began to tremble, even lowering in pitch. Once he had finished speaking, he immediately held his breath. Despite being separated by the phone call, he felt scared and closed his eyes. Deep down, he felt he had made a big mistake in the spur of the moment yesterday.
After a long silence, Percy finally spoke, asking, "Did you just say you let Isabel go out alone?"
"Yes." Tony replied shakily. He then promised, "Mr. Stanton, I’ve got all those evidences about Sebastian’s crime in my hands. I guarantee Miss Isabel won’t turn herself in. She just went to that place."
"We’ll settle this later!" Percy coldly responded the moment Tony’s words fell, and hung up abruptly.
Tony held his mobile phone, listening to the beep of the disconnected call. He couldn’t help but shudder.
...
Isabel went downstairs and hailed a taxi by the roadside. She handed the address Tony had given her to the driver who, after glancing at it, started the car and drove towards the destination.
Shortly after Isabel’s taxi left, a red sedan parked by the roadside followed suit, leisurely trailing behind her taxi.
Meanwhile, Percy, who was taking care of Raymond Thompson at the hospital, hastily put away his mobile phone, went downstairs, started his car, and headed towards where Isabel had gone.
...
The address Tony had given led to the outskirts of Bellshire. It took two hours for Isabel’s taxi to reach the spot.
Upon arriving, Isabel discovered that the area seemed familiar. She looked around and realized it was actually the place she had gone to after being discharged from the hospital following her abortion.
Following this road to the end, and walking a bit further, she would reach the temple she had visited last time.
Isabel had the address in her hand and, following the taxi driver’s directions, walked forward and saw a white wooden gate.
The gate was half-open, and as Isabel stood outside looking around, she didn’t see any people. Just as she considered calling out, an elderly man emerged from a single-story building nearby. He walked over with a slightly hunched back, not asking Isabel anything, and went straight to opening the gate.
Behind the door was a low hill. At first, Isabel was unable to see what this place was, so the elderly man pointed in a direction and said, "You can go up that way."
Isabel nodded with a smile, then followed the direction the old man had pointed out and walked forward.
As she walked in, she discovered that this place was actually a cemetery.
Isabel immediately wondered what Tony’s purpose in sending her here was. She simply checked the number on the paper against the tombstone numbers she saw, then followed the stone stairs, step by step, up the hill.
