Chapter 643: Chapter 661: The Cute Baby’s Smart Counterattack (4)
He finally slowed down the car, and even though his worry had subsided, he still drove it to the ground floor of his apartment building.
He directly stopped by the roadside, got out of the car, craned his neck and counted the stories until he reached the eighteenth floor. Seeing the light inside, he took a cigarette out of his pocket, ignited it slowly, and inhaled.
...
When Tony had waited for Isabel to finish her meal and clean up the dishes, he left Percy Stanton’s bedroom. He aimlessly watched TV for a while and then walked to the window to admire the nighttime view.
There happened to be a telescope on the windowsill which must have been Raymond Thompson’s toy. Tony casually picked it up and scanned the scene outside, eventually spotting Percy Stanton across the street.
The man was still wearing the same clothes from the daytime, standing indifferently. The telescope showed a clear view of his face, which held no expression. However, Tony, who had followed Percy for a long time, sensed a lost and disoriented look.
Tony watched Percy for a while, counting that he smoked eight cigarettes. Finally, he put down the telescope, turned his head, and looked at the closed bedroom door. He felt that same sense of melancholy he experienced when watching a romance drama where the male and female leads had a cold war.
Tony paced around the house for quite some time before gritting his teeth and deciding not to worry about whether his next action would anger Percy. He walked straight to Percy’s bedroom door, raised his hand, and knocked. "Miss Isabel, may I come in?"
After a long while, a soft voice came from inside: "Hmm."
Only then did Tony push open the door and enter the bedroom.
Isabel remained in the same position she had been in after finishing her meal, curled up on the sofa, staring blankly out the window.
The bedroom window was open, and the chilly night breeze of spring blew gently through the window, making the room’s temperature drop.
Tony entered, closed the window, then walked to the refrigerator nearby. He took out two cups of coffee, placed one in front of Isabel, and held the other one in his hand. He sat down opposite Isabel, watched her for a while, and spoke in a respectful tone. "Miss Isabel, did you voluntarily surrender yourself today?"
Isabel’s gaze only then moved away from the window. She glanced at Tony but said nothing.
Tony put down the coffee in his hand, picked up the bottle in front of Isabel, opened it for her, and pushed it to her. "Actually, Miss Isabel, I saw you six years ago."
Isabel frowned, looking puzzled at Tony since she had first met him just a short while ago.
Seeing her confusion, Tony smiled gently and corrected his words. "I saw your portrait six years ago."
Isabel picked up the coffee on the table and took a sip.
Tony continued slowly, "You must have guessed by now how that portrait came to be. It was drawn by our young master."
"Our young master is none other than Mr. Stanton," Tony explained, "I was trained many years ago to be Mr. Stanton’s personal assistant, so I’ve always known him quite well."
"Mr. Stanton was popular since childhood, and many people wrote love letters to him. However, I rarely saw any girls getting close to him."
"Even though Mr. Stanton didn’t say anything to me at that time, I could tell from his expression that you were the woman he recognized at first glance."
Isabel smiled slightly, acknowledging Tony’s words without commenting.
Tony fell silent for a while and suddenly looked up at Isabel. "Miss Isabel, may I ask you a very presumptuous question?"
Isabel nodded. "Go ahead."
