Chapter 633: Chapter 651: Dad, You Home-wrecker (4)
After Secretary Emille reached this point in the conversation, she suddenly realized that she seemed too gossipy and apologized with a smile, closing her mouth and saying to Percy Stanton, "Mr. Stanton, I’m going to have lunch with my colleagues now."
"Goodbye," Percy replied politely, waiting until Secretary Emille had gone and his elegant eyebrows furrowed gently.
What did she mean by saying that Isabel Smith has arranged many things for the company?
And why did she print his photo? What was she going to do with it?
As Percy was puzzled, he saw through the car window a familiar figure walking out of the Smith Corporation Office Building.
It was Isabel Smith.
Her steps were hurried, and she didn’t look around, walking straight down the stairs and hailing a taxi by the roadside before leaving.
Watching her from his car, Percy hesitated for a moment before starting the engine and following closely behind Isabel’s taxi.
The daytime roads in Bellshire City were always slow-moving. Although there were two cars between Percy’s and Isabel’s, he never lost sight of her.
After more than half an hour, Isabel’s taxi came to a stop.
Percy merely slowed down, glancing left and right, and realized that there was nowhere else for Isabel to go other than the People’s Public Security Bureau directly across the street.
What was Isabel doing at the Public Security Bureau?
Was she turning in Sebastian Smith?
The first thought that came to Percy’s mind was this, but he soon frowned, feeling that something was off.
If Isabel was turning in Sebastian Smith, why would she have delegated her company work to others?
According to Secretary Emille’s words, it was obvious that she wouldn’t be returning to the company for a long time.
Percy lowered his gaze, thinking back to the time when Tony Williams had anonymously sent evidence of Sebastian Smith’s business crimes to Isabel, and vaguely felt that something had changed about her since then.
At the time, he thought he was overthinking, but now, in retrospect, Isabel’s unprovoked invitation for him to meet yesterday afternoon, and her tear-stained eyes this morning...
All the clues clearly laid out in Percy’s mind, giving him a sudden sense of foreboding.
His mind raced, and he quickly pulled out his mobile phone, calling Tony Williams: "Tony, you told me earlier about someone who invested in Sebastian Smith. What was their name?"
"Timothy Howard."
"Which Howard?"
"Howard, as in the land."
Percy paused for a moment before continuing, "Check if there have been any large sums of money transferred from Isabel’s account."
"Mr. Stanton, wait a moment..." There was silence for less than a minute on Tony’s end before the voice came through again: "There’s a transaction of 12 million from Miss Isabel’s account with the Bank of Industry and Commerce, transferred to an account belonging to someone named Emily Taylor. Huh... Emily Taylor, that name sounds familiar... where have I heard it before?"
"Where did you hear it?" Percy asked urgently, straightening up in his seat.
"Mr. Stanton, give me a moment, I’ll look it up... found it!" Tony’s voice was filled with excitement but suddenly stopped.
As Percy held the phone, he sensed that his previous assumption seemed to be correct.
He opened the car door and got out while shaking with concern, asking, "What did you find?"
"...Timothy Howard..." Tony’s voice was shocked, "The 12 million in Timothy Howard’s account came from Emily Taylor, which essentially means it’s Miss Isabel’s money... Oh my God, Mr. Stanton, at first I only checked the source of money in Timothy Howard’s account, but I didn’t continue looking into it. Now it seems, we were right in our guess that Sebastian Smith committed commercial crimes, and we collected evidence of Sebastian Smith’s crimes, however, it wasn’t until now that we realized Sebastian Smith’s accomplice is... Miss Isabel Smith!"
