Chapter 619: Chapter 637: I Choose to Like You (10)
"Judging by appearance alone, it’s easy to recognize that Raymond Thompson’s child is Mr. Stanton’s son. However, somehow, when it comes to feelings and atmosphere, it seems as if Miss Smith and Mr. Stanton’s son look like mother and son." The female nurse tilted her head, looked at Percy Stanton, and asked, "Mr. Stanton, what do you think? Do you also feel like they resemble a mother and son?"
Percy Stanton steadied his steps and looked at Isabel Smith, who was standing by the bed, and Raymond Thompson, who was sleeping in the hospital bed. He paused for a moment and forced a smile, not answering the nurse’s question. Instead, he said: "Thank you for taking care of Raymond just now. If you have something to do, you can go now."
The female nurse smiled and nodded, not forgetting to leave a message: "When the medicine in the infusion bottle is about to run out, just press the bedside call bell."
"Thank you," Isabel Smith said, and Percy Stanton nodded. The female nurse then left the room.
Only then did Percy Stanton slowly walk to the bedside. He bent over and reached out to touch Raymond’s head. Feeling that the temperature was normal, he straightened up and glanced at Isabel Smith before casually asking, "Didn’t you go to the company to work? Why did you come back so early?"
Isabel Smith instantly thought of her conversation with Evelyn Osbert just now, and her heart felt somewhat heavy. With a slightly weak tone, she replied, "There was nothing much to do this afternoon, so I came to see Raymond a bit earlier."
Percy Stanton remembered that Isabel had her blood drawn yesterday and asked with concern, "Are you tired? Do you want to rest for a while?"
Isabel shook her head and sat down on the sofa, not saying anything. She stared at Raymond on the bed, her thoughts drifting to her own child.
Percy Stanton was about to ask Isabel if she had lunch when his mobile phone rang. He quickly took it out, put it on silent, and stepped out of the infirmary to answer the call.
The phone call was from the Thompson Empire Group Headquarters and the conversation lasted quite some time. By the time he hung up and returned to the infirmary, Isabel was already slumped against the sofa, seemingly asleep.
Percy Stanton looked around the room, grabbed a blanket, and gently covered Isabel with it.
As he straightened up, he looked at Isabel’s face. Her skin was fair as snow, lips moist and rosy, and her small, upturned nose gave her a delicate and cute appearance.
For a moment, Percy Stanton was entranced by her beauty. He didn’t know what Isabel was dreaming about, her eyebrows slightly furrowed in her sleep, causing her delicate brows to tremble ever so gently.
Percy couldn’t help but swallow and quickly straightened up. He turned to look at Raymond’s infusion bottle and walked to the front of the bed to adjust the flow of the drip, slowing it down a bit. He then looked down at Raymond.
Perhaps because of his injury, Raymond was sleeping restlessly, his brow furrowed, looking quite distressed.
Percy Stanton looked at Raymond’s furrowed brow, and he couldn’t help but feel, perhaps influenced by the female nurse’s earlier words, that he and Isabel had similar expressions.
While the two didn’t have similar facial features, Percy, like the female nurse earlier, saw a resemblance between Isabel and Raymond that made them seem like mother and son.
Percy picked up his mobile phone, took a photo of Raymond, then walked over to Isabel and took a photo of her as well. He sat down on a single sofa by the window and started to slowly compare the two photos on his phone.
Sometimes, when you don’t intentionally think about it, you’ll never notice any resemblance between two people. However, when you truly analyze it, you might find many similarities.
Percy Stanton stared at the two photos for a long time and finally discovered that the similarities between Raymond and Isabel were not just in their furrowed brows but even in the corners of their eyes.
