Chapter 611: Chapter 629: I Choose to Like You (2)
At first, Isabel Smith was fully awake when she laid on the operating table.
Isabel had been afraid of pain since she was little. When the needle was inserted into her vein, she almost shed tears from the pain. Then she watched as a needle pierced her arm’s vein, and the bright red blood flowed through the plastic tube into Raymond Thompson’s body on another operating table.
Raymond had lost a lot of blood, and Isabel’s constitution was not very good, with some slight anemia. So, halfway through the blood transfusion, she became slightly dizzy and fell into a deep sleep on the operating table.
As a result, at eight o’clock in the evening, she and Raymond were wheeled out of the emergency room one after the other, both of them in a comatose state.
Isabel Smith was the first to come out. Percy Stanton hurried forward and found Isabel sleeping with a pale face. He suddenly tensed up, raised his head, and asked the nurse pushing Isabel’s bed, "What’s wrong with her?"
"The young lady is fine, just asleep," the nurse politely said with a smile, then looked back at another mobile bed behind her and continued, "The little kid’s surgery was very successful, and no nerve damage happened due to the fall. He’s not in any immediate danger, but because he received a large amount of blood, even though it is the same blood type, there may still be a rejection reaction. So, in the next few days, he will be closely observed in the Intensive Care Unit. If nothing goes wrong, he will be transferred to the infirmary later."
Percy glanced at Isabel and then at Raymond. His anxious heart finally relaxed and returned to his chest.
...
Isabel woke up at 11 PM in the late-night, feeling listless because of the blood transfusion. She opened her eyes and saw Percy Stanton’s concerned face.
"How are you feeling?" Percy asked, his eyes full of concern.
Isabel shook her head and was about to close her eyes again when she suddenly thought of Raymond. She grabbed Percy’s arm and sat up past her remaining dizziness, only to fall back into Percy’s strong and sturdy arms.
"The doctor said you would have low blood pressure after the transfusion. Rest for a day before getting out of bed.".
Percy gently laid Isabel back down on the bed and raised the head of the bed. As he handed her a pair of tableware, he took out prepared food from the insulation box sitting aside and said, "Eat some food first and restore your strength."
Isabel looked at the table full of food, most of which were to supplement her blood, but she had no appetite and didn’t take the tableware. Instead, she just looked at Percy and anxiously asked, "Where’s Raymond? How is he now?"
"Thanks to you, he’s temporarily out of danger and in the Intensive Care Unit," Percy ladled a bowl of porridge for Isabel and stirred it with a spoon. After blowing to cool it down, he held the spoonful of porridge to her lips before continuing, "I already sent a professional doctor to watch over Raymond. He is still asleep now. Eat these things first. The doctor said that you need to recover."
Isabel listened to everything that Percy said. Only then did she obediently open her mouth and drink the porridge that Percy brought to her lips. She raised her eyelids and asked, "Didn’t they say that Raymond is out of danger? Why is he still in the Intensive Care Unit?"
"To prevent any possible rejection reaction between your blood," Percy scooped another mouthful of porridge and fed it to Isabel, his tone suddenly becoming serious, "Isabel, I really can’t thank you enough this time."
Isabel knew what Percy was referring to. For her, giving Raymond a blood transfusion was a willing choice. However, as Percy apologized, she suddenly felt somewhat embarrassed.
