Chapter 609: Chapter 627: Shen Shen, can I pursue you? (10)

"Where is Raymond now?"

Percy Stanton asked as he and Isabel Smith hurried towards the emergency building.

Raymond’s head teacher followed Percy and Isabel’s pace, saying: "He’s on the third floor of the Emergency Building, just pushed into the Emergency Room."

Percy didn’t say anything, but quickened his pace.

Isabel, in her high heels, jogged a couple of steps and asked the head teacher who was also jogging beside her: "What happened? How did Raymond suddenly fall down the stairs?"

Raymond’s head teacher glanced at Percy and patiently explained the situation to Isabel again without any impatience.

Isabel listened alone and felt a shiver down her spine.

Falling down the stairs, and only a five-year-old child...

When Isabel thought of it, she suddenly felt as if she had experienced it herself, her heart contracting all at once.

It was as if the person at the brink of life and death was her own blood relative.

Isabel, pale-faced, followed Percy to the entrance of the rescue room.

They were now preparing for surgery, a group of doctors coming in and out with surgical instruments.

As Isabel and Percy arrived at the door, they saw Raymond lying motionless on the operating table, his school uniform stained with a large patch of blood, his eyes closed, no longer showing the lovable and lively appearance of his usual days.

Seeing that scene, Isabel felt her heart missing, and her legs gave out.

Raymond’s head teacher quickly supported Isabel, who was pale and barely holding onto Percy’s arm, asking helplessly the passing doctor: "How is Raymond now? Is he going to be okay?"

"Sorry, Miss, we haven’t started the examination yet and don’t know if he has suffered brain damage." The doctor replied with courtesy, and then entered the operating room.

Isabel subconsciously wanted to follow, but was stopped by Percy, who retreated two steps and then watched as the door to the emergency room slowly closed.

Isabel held Percy’s arm tightly, anxiously asking, "Percy, Raymond will be fine, right?"

Before she could finish her question, the image of the motionless Raymond reappeared in front of her eyes, and tears involuntarily fell down her cheeks.

Just this morning, Raymond had been happily pulling her hand, cheerfully telling her, "Sister Isabel, remember to pick me up from school together after school tonight."

Just before she and Percy returned to the apartment, she had thought of picking up Raymond and taking him to Blue Harbor to watch the musical fountain and have dinner.

Those images were so beautiful, but now, what she saw was Raymond, in a coma, barely clinging to life.

The more Isabel thought about it, the more powerless she felt, finally collapsing into Percy’s arms.

She couldn’t quite explain her feelings, as if the pain Raymond was experiencing at this moment was also felt by her.

Percy supported Isabel with one hand and carried her to a rest chair nearby. After settling her down, he went to the water dispenser in the corridor and got her a cup of water.

Isabel trembled while holding the water cup, not taking a single sip, spilling more than half of it as her fingers trembled.

Raymond was Percy’s flesh and blood with no blood relation to her. They had only known each other for less than a year, but now that he had an accident, why did she feel like she was about to die as well?

...

Isabel sat on the chair, pale-faced, staring straight at the door of the emergency room.

Percy stood in front of the window, appearing calm as he looked outside, but the white knuckles of his clenched fist revealed the urgency in his heart.

It had only been a few minutes since the door to the emergency room closed, but Isabel and Percy felt it like an unbearably long and excruciating time.</paramref
