Chapter 590: Chapter 607: There’s No Place in Life Where We Can’t Meet Each Other (10)

In a moment, the once-normal testimony recording room turned into a chaotic scene, with the sound of someone calling for a doctor and some people apologizing to Isabel Smith just to please Percy Stanton.

Isabel knew that Percy accusing the people around him was a bit of an overreaction. She also knew that she should speak up to reassure him that she was fine.

But at this moment, seeing the people in the room, who would usually behave politely around her, all gather around her, and Percy sitting by her side, softly and anxiously saying, "Just wait a little longer, the doctor will be here soon," something warm welled up inside her heart. She was stunned and couldn’t bring herself to break free.

It had been many years since she had last experienced being held in the palm of someone’s hand, treated as the center of attention, and relishing in the adoration of others.

Perhaps the happiest thing in life is to be favored by someone for no reason, just like what she was experiencing now.

Even if anyone saw the few drops of blood on Isabel’s body, they would know that it wasn’t a significant injury.

Yet, in Percy’s eyes, it seemed like a shocking and earth-shaking event.

Isabel never knew that she could be so delicate again.

However, while she was enjoying the attention, Isabel did feel a bit uneasy, and after indulging for a moment, she lifted her hand and tugged at Percy’s sleeve.

Percy quickly looked up at her, his eyes filled with deep concern, "Isabel, what’s wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable?"

Suddenly, Isabel felt that her previous infatuation was a bit excessive. A pure uneasiness flickered in her eyes as she bit her lip and continued in a hushed voice, "I’m fine."

Percy furrowed his brows and, looking at the blood on Isabel’s body, said, "How can you be fine? There’s blood."

Isabel felt even guiltier. Her little hand tightly clung to Percy’s fingers, twisting them with unease, wrinkling his sleeve.

Percy Stanton had never known that Isabel Smith, who was arrogant at times, rogue at times, and a goddess at times, could also have such an innocent side as a young girl. His mood suddenly improved significantly.

He could see that she had something to say but seemed hesitant and afraid.

Unable to resist smiling, Percy raised his hand and stroked her head with indulgence, asking softly, "Isabel, what’s wrong?"

The gentler his tone, the more uneasy Isabel’s heart became. She was even unsure if he would become angry upon learning that he had caused such a mess in the room while she was unharmed.

"Hmm?" Seeing that Isabel hadn’t spoken for a while, Percy gently reminded her again that he was still patiently waiting for her to speak.

Just as Isabel was struggling to find the words, the doctor who had been called arrived, rushing in hurriedly.

Isabel’s mind suddenly went blank.

"Who’s injured?" The doctor put the medical kit aside and asked.

A police officer pointed to Isabel and said, "This young lady."

The doctor looked at Isabel and asked, "Miss, where are you injured?"

Isabel looked at the approaching doctor, her face turning red. She instinctively looked up at Percy.

Percy raised his head, giving a meaningful glance to the doctor to halt, then turned to Isabel, "Isabel, what did you want to say just now?"

The whole room quieted down at once, with everyone watching Percy and Isabel.

In that moment, Isabel felt like she had become history’s greatest sinner, unable to lift her head, nor dare to say outright that she wasn’t injured. She hesitated and kicked her feet, then tilted her head towards Percy’s ear.

Percy immediately understood what Isabel meant and leaned his ear closer to her mouth.

Only then did Isabel use a voice that only the two of them could hear to say, "I’m not injured. The blood on me is from the criminal."
