The young female police officer noticed that Isabel’s complexion looked slightly better, so she sat down in front of Isabel with a pen in her hand and began to ask Isabel a multitude of questions.

Most of the questions were about Isabel’s experience during the incident.

Isabel answered each question in detail.

The female police officer was taking notes and recording their conversation.

Just as the record was about to be completed, the door of the office was abruptly swung open. Isabel turned her head to see Percy Stanton standing at the doorway, slightly out of breath.

On his speedy drive here, Percy had called the head of the Public Security Bureau and found out that Isabel had been safely taken to the Police Station. However, since he hadn’t seen her in person and didn’t know her current condition, he was deeply worried.

This concern made him appear somewhat flustered.

Not until he saw Isabel’s familiar and delicate face did his worries gradually subside.

Without any hesitation, he strode toward Isabel. Ignorant of others in the police station, he directly grabbed Isabel’s wrist, pulled her towards him and whispered with a hint of residual fear shaking his voice, "It’s okay, Isabel. You’re safe now."

His tone was gentle, as if he were comforting a child.

His words softly sank into Isabel’s heart, shattering the resilience that had been supporting her since she discovered the intruder.

She had confronted the criminal without shedding a tear, even when she was inches away from being stabbed in the heart.

Yet now, the reassuring words from this man made her feel as if she had suffered an extraordinary wrong, her eyes turned tearful at once.

The peace that had been gradually returning after giving her statement was disturbed again.

Percy thought that Isabel hadn’t fully recovered from the terrifying and dangerous situation, so he tenderly stroked her back, trying to console her. However, the sight of the blood on Isabel’s clothes suddenly made his eyes turn sharp, "Whose blood is this? Where are you hurt?"

Isabel hadn’t realized there was blood on her clothes until Percy mentioned it. She looked down and saw a few droplets of bright red on the front of her blouse.

Although the blood drops weren’t very conspicuous, seeing them made Percy extremely tense. His rage quickly flared up. He turned towards the leaders and the police officers of the Public Security Bureau who were waiting for his instructions, his voice filled with fury, "Are you all blind? She’s injured and yet you’re still taking her statement instead of taking her to the hospital first?"

Watching this tall and handsome man stand before her, Isabel was slightly stupefied.
