Chapter 588: Chapter 605: There’s No Place in Life Where We Can’t Meet Each Other (8)

Isabel Smith tightly gripped it, like gripping the last strand of life and survival, regardless of the man’s struggle, she had no intention to loosen her grip.

Perhaps, at the most dangerous moment, a person always bursts out potential she didn’t even know she had - right now, Isabel Smith had such strength that even the man in front of her was somewhat helpless.

The man stared at Isabel Smith, his face creased, then suddenly sidestepped, holding the golf club, inching his way closer and closer to her.

Watching the man approaching closer and closer, Isabel Smith stepped back slightly, until she could only grasp the tip of the golf club. Her heartbeat quickened, and as the man drew near, she suddenly let go of the golf club and ran towards the living room.

The man furiously discarded the golf club in his hand, took up the dagger, and began his pursuit of Isabel.

Percy Stanton had told her not to go out for safety reasons.

However, at this moment, Isabel could no longer consider that. If she were caught by the man behind her, she was sure to meet her doom.

Isabel swiftly opened the door to the living room and ran into the corridor.

The man, though injured, still had great explosive strength. Before Isabel could get few steps away, she was grabbed by the man, who caught her wrist. Then, she felt a force pulling her back into the room. Before she could react, she was pressed against the wall near the entrance.

The man then raised his dagger and thrust it towards her neck.

Isabel’s heart skipped a beat, and her face turned pale in an instant.

Just as she thought she was doomed, suddenly, the living room door, which was ajar, was forcefully kicked open.

The dagger-holding man, taken aback, had not yet turned his head when two undercover policemen who had kicked open the door pounced on him, seized his arm, immobilized him. They scolded the man, handcuffed him, and took him away.

The other two undercover police officers, looking at Isabel, asked, "Miss, are you okay?"

Isabel, still shaken, leaned against the wall, her chest heaving heavily. After a while, she swallowed her saliva and nodded to the police officers in front of her, panting heavily, hardly saying a word.

"Miss, please accompany us to the police station to give a statement now."

Isabel nodded again, then stood up and took a step towards the door. Her legs gave way, and she almost toppled over.

"Watch out!" The police officer near Isabel reached out to steady her, and was somewhat concerned, "Can you walk? Do you need help?"

Isabel stood in place, leaning on the police officer. After a while, she started walking towards the door.

...

On the way to the Public Security Bureau, Isabel, still somewhat in shock, didn’t even notice when Percy Stanton called her. Finally, the police officer next to Isabel answered a call, informing them of their present situation.

At the Public Security Bureau, the man who had infiltrated Isabel’s home was taken straightaway by two severe-looking officers to the interrogation room, while Isabel was escorted to an office.

After Isabel sat down, a young female police officer poured her a cup of water and said with a friendly smile, "Have some water to calm down, then we’ll take your statement."

Isabel had recovered a bit. Accepting the glass, her voice hoarse, she said, "Thank you."

The warm water flowing into her stomach somewhat calmed Isabel, and her face was no longer as pale as before.
