Chapter 583: Chapter 599: There’s No Place in Life Where We Can’t Meet Each Other (2)
This time, Percy Stanton didn’t mind what Raymond Thompson said. He just looked at the road ahead, maintained a steady car speed, and watched the neon lights by the roadside keep zooming past. He swallowed his saliva and asked, "Raymond, do you want Isabel Smith to marry me and become your mum, or do you want her to marry someone else and forever be your Sister Isabel?"
His words were a bit confusing. Raymond blinked twice, his expression a tad stunned.
Percy didn’t find this bothersome at all. He maintained the same calm tone and slowly repeated, "Do you want Sister Isabel to marry me, become your mum and be part of our family, or do you want her to marry someone else and always remain as your Sister Isabel?"
After finished speaking, Percy stared straight at the road in front of him, waiting for Raymond to answer.
Raymond stared blankly for a moment, then impulsively blurted out, "Of course I would hope Sister Isabel could become part of our family..."
Suddenly, Raymond paused and with a frown, he then said, "But Sister Isabel could also be part of our family if she married me."
Percy didn’t take issue with his son’s wild imagination. He laid out the truth bluntly, "The person who just called Sister Isabel is her fiance."
Fiance?
The expression on Raymond’s face suddenly became that of hurt.
"By the time you’re old enough to marry Isabel Smith, her child could probably be dating you," Percy stated, not caring if his young son’s heart could handle this. He laid the "cruel" truth before his son, "So, if you really want to see Sister Isabel every day, the only solution is for your father to marry Sister Isabel."
...
Raymond’s reply to Percy was, "Let me think about it."
Even though Percy inwardly sneered at his son, as if there was anything to really think about, he outwardly nodded at Raymond, grunting approval of his thinking time. He even told Raymond to think carefully, then added with a hint of threat, "If you can’t figure it out, then your Sister Isabel will become someone else’s."
So, during the drive back home, Raymond was extraordinarily quiet, staring outside of the car window with a serious expression, as if deep in thought.
Percy didn’t disturb his son, silently drove them to the underground parking lot of the apartment, entered the elevator in silence, came home and in silence prepared the bathwater for Raymond. Then in silence, he watched Raymond crawl into bed and go to sleep.
Just as Percy came out of Raymond’s room, stepping into his own bedroom and closing the door behind him, he heard a knock on the door.
Percy casually opened the door, looking at Raymond dressed in red and blue pajamas, who stared at him seriously and asked, "Dad, can I have a serious talk with you?"
Percy swept his eyes up and down his son, moved aside, and made way for Raymond.
Raymond walked in, sat down on the sofa in an orderly manner. After Percy had also sat down, Raymond seriously continued, asking, "Dad, do you really like Sister Isabel a lot?"
Of course...Percy answered in his heart without hesitation, but didn’t answer his son.
Raymond furrowed his pretty brows, reiterating his purpose, "Dad, I am talking to you as a man who likes Sister Isabel. Please take this question seriously."
This scene was a bit absurd indeed.
Where else could you find a father explaining his feelings to a five-year-old child?
Percy was rather disdainful of his son using "man" to describe himself, but still, he assumed a very serious demeanor.
