Chapter 574: Chapter 590 Romantic "Encounter" (3)
Percy Stanton and Isabel Smith were battling Evelyn Osbert.
So, he suddenly became inexplicably tense.
In his little head, he kept thinking about what he should do, how he could help his father and Sister Isabel...
After half a day of thinking, Raymond Thompson finally interjected as soon as Percy finished speaking, nodding frantically: "Yes, I don’t know this auntie. I was standing on Main Street, and she came up to me and then bought me KFC."
Percy looked satisfied with his son’s response and continued speaking to the police with a serious face: "According to national laws, it is abduction when a stranger takes a child away and buys them something. So I hope you will thoroughly investigate this matter since it concerns my son’s safety. Today, my son was alert and quick to react, so he managed to find help and avert a bigger problem. But next time, it might not be so lucky."
Percy’s words made sense, and the police nodded in agreement.
In a moment, Evelyn Osbert felt as if her world had blossomed and withered, leaving her in a desolate and silent place.
She had thought that by bringing up her connection with Isabel Smith as family, she could avoid trouble, but to her surprise, Isabel took a completely indifferent and unhelpful stance, saying they weren’t close.
Percy insisted he didn’t know Evelyn, and the little boy who had asked her for KFC insisted she was the one who offered it.
All signs pointed to child abduction.
Evelyn’s look turned pale, and she glared at Isabel from behind the bars, almost spitting fire: "Isabel Smith, you know full well I am not abducting children. You’ve always disliked me, so you’re taking advantage of this situation to target me!"
Evelyn really was... Isabel’s anger flared up inside her in an instant. Just as she was about to retort, Percy, standing beside her, hooked his lips in a cold sneer and cut in with a chilling tone: "Miss Evelyn, I think you may have misunderstood something here. The matter today is between you and my son, and as his legal guardian, it’s ultimately between you and me. What does it have to do with Isabel?"
"I don’t know whether Miss Evelyn’s comprehension is the problem, or if I’m not expressing myself clearly enough. Even if Isabel were to stand here vouching for you today, she could do nothing if I were determined to look further into this. After all, the child is mine."
Percy paused and involved his son: "Children don’t lie. Now let me ask my son... Raymond, what did this older sister say to you?"
Raymond hurriedly answered Percy’s question: "She said she’d take me to find my father."
"Sir, I don’t know Miss Evelyn at all. She told my son she would take him to find me and then bought him KFC. This is abduction. If my son were really lost or unable to find me, he could just call me."
Upon hearing this, Raymond quickly took his mobile phone out of his pocket and showed it to the police.
Percy shifted his gaze from Raymond, looking stern and even righteous, like an expert detective, and continued: "Suppose my son did experience something unexpected, such as his phone breaking down..."
"Father, my phone isn’t broken." Raymond quickly turned on his phone, waved the lit screen at Percy, and then called him.
It took less than half a second for Percy’s phone to ring with music. With a slight headache, he took his phone out of his pocket, feeling that his clever son was now being a bit too nosy. He canceled the call and continued speaking to the police: "Or if the phone got lost...".
